Well A-10ish as twin-linked Punishers aren't really going to pop tanks, but you can see where I'm going (though I'm thinking of doing a Vendetta with a it's 3 TL lascannon represented by a 6 barrel rotary lascannon)

since these were taken the 2nd engine is done, 1 wing is magnetised for easy removal for transport and the punisher has been magnetised so that I can come up with some other weapon options

Looking very cool! I just happen to have some extra parts laying around to! I like your idea about the vendetta to! Imintarested to see how the engines come out, they seem to far forward but you actually have it just right for the A-10

This conversion is impressing me not just because it's awesome, but because it's managing to stay true to its A-10 roots AND its Imperial Navy roots. Very nice work, keep it up! biggrin.gif

Very nice looking hybrid. I see what you did there with the thunderbolt....wink.gif
All things considered, I think you should totally go for the gatling las-cannon. The 30mm on the thunderbolt is one of the most powerful guns in the air right now, and while a punisher cannon is pretty wicked, it just doesn't have what feels like a proportionate 'punch', lol. Although, the punisher DOES look a lot like it.

The A-10 is, without a doubt, my most favoritist military aircraft of all time. You have certainly done it justice with this conversion. Well done, sir!

I agree, it's a perfect mix of the A-10 and the chunky Imperial aesthetic.

Why not Marauder Destroyer instead? Twin-linked trippled autocannon on the nose, wings full of bombs and missile, etc. The TL heavy bolter and rear assault cannons might be a problem, though.

While I agree on the armament the Destroyer is just too big - it's based on a bomber, and whil eI'd love to build one (one day!) it's not really the right size.
The perfect solution would be a Vendetta with even more guns and no transport capacity

Big game coming up so hope to do a bit more work on this over the next weeek - at the very least cover over the connections to the wings and a base coat

The Marauder's not that big, considering the size of current GW flyers.
http://i140.photobucket.com/albums/r14/qui...lTopLabeled.jpg

It might lack some of the bulk, but once it's mounted on top of a long rod, the size really doesn't matter, it's in plain view (no pun intended) of everyone and can't really hide behind anything.

I know someone who made a Thunderhawk out of the stormraven with the chapterhouse hull extension and some other bits. Was smaller than the FW one (which is also much bigger than the original GW metal one), but no one had a problem with it on the table.

Talk of flyers reminded me I had done some work in this recently

user posted image

bit of paint, and boxed in the wing roots

also despite how much fun twin linked punishers sound, they're not so great in Apoc, so a bit more armament and the cannon counting as a Heavy Bolter

user posted image

caused a lot of pain in a recent game - until a Baneblade opened up with all it's Heavy Bolters and lascannon

Makes me miss my old Rattler, A-10s in whatever RL or game/ toy form makes me smile. Beast of an aircraft!

Obviously somebody over at FW saw this and had a light bulb moment. The new Avenger Strike Fighter looks awfully similar.
