Hello all.

I've started a brand new army project: Hammers Slammers.

Inspiration for this comes from Hammers Slammers books by David Drake (some of my favourite books!). While I draw inspiration from the books, I will not follow the Slammers fluff slavishly. Time to time I will take liberties from the backround and add something of my own to the project. This is mainly to attach the Slammers into 40K universe. I'm also limited by the rules of the codex I'm using.

I chose the TAU codex as the rules to rep this army. They just fit the best to the image of Slammers in my head, that's all. And while I use TAU rules for them, my figs are human force.

I will post more of my thoughts if there is interest for it. But for now, may I present the first finished figs of my project:

In the first pic there is a Slammers Line Infantryman. Armed with 2cm Powergun (a sort of plasmagun, but not the kind of 40K plasmagun). This fig reps Tau Firewarrior in the rules.

The second fig is a sergeant from a recon squad. Armed with 1cm SMG powergun with attached Painting Laser. This fig reps Tau Pathfinder in the rules.

The third picture shows another recon squadmember. This time armed with Light Armour Piercing Rocket (called "Buzz-bomb" by the Slammers, reps rail rifle in the rules). Another Tau Pathfinder.

The final pic shows Drop Commando (sometimes nicknamed as Ghosts by the Slammers). Has combat shield, 2cm tri-barrel powergun and jump pack. This fig is a deviation from the Slammers background... You won't find any "Ghosts" there. I added (made up) this troop type to the roster because it has rules in the Tau codex. Reps Tau Stealth suits if you didn't guess it already.

This is it for now. More stuff to come in the future, as soon as I get more to done!

Edited the pics to links, 700x700 max please - BW

Looking good. Just what a mercenary unit should look like, tough and battle-ready. The Ghost looks especially good.

I'll try to remember to take some WIP pics when I build more troops. But basically these are just space marine scouts (with chest eagles shaved off) with cadian IG heads... They are not that complicate conversions.

I love the plastic scout sprues! They were godsend for this project. smile.gif

Yes, I've seen those figs. I draw part of my inspiration from them, but my tanks will look very different, more edged, not so rounded. I want some 40K look for them too to fit in the universe.

Panzergraf
I have several tanks already underway. I use the chimera kit as the base for them and go on from there...

Thanks for the replies!

sweet drop commando, the sheild is a brilliant touch. Is the little window see-through?

Great minds think alike, eh? wink.gif

Yes, the window on the shield is see-through. I just got some paint on it... I'll be more careful with the next shields to keep the window clear.

I thought I'd seen these somewhere else, at sotavasara. Great looking mini's, even though I don't have the slightest idea what these Hammers Slammers are... Maybe it'll come up someday. Keep up the good work.

when we see some new figs?

After the weekend, I hope. I'm having a paint fest with Migsula this sunday and I'm furiously working on more troops to paint then...

Upcoming stuff:

Pair of soldiers and some of the Jeep crew. The jeep itself is sadly still under construction...

Watch this space... tongue.gif

Uh, oh!

This thing turned out to be not much of a blog... the reason why it's taken this long and I still have nothing to report in the slammers front is that I'm gonna attend a finnish Fantasy Battle tournament that it scheduled in about five weeks from now.

I'm currently building a Slaanesh daemon legion for it (just about starting to paint it, in fact).

This has totally taken my time and effort, so I haven't done anything for the slammers for some time.

When the tourny is done and over, I'll return back to slammers and try to get something done so that I can give you some new stuff to see.

I'll post some pics of my daemon legion stuff in the FB section once I get something painted.

Nice figs by the way - though since it is the Slammers I'm waiting to see a tank...
