I've read that, to take part in tournaments, an army must use mostly gamesworkshop pieces.

I am considering taking up the hobby once again after a year or 3 break, only this time I want to compete.

I want to make an imperial guard army using heads, backpacks and weapons from other hobby sources. Would such an army be tournament legal. If not is it possible to just use guns from a different hobby. My argument to counter objections would be that I could make my own weapons from plasticard and putty which I'm assuming would be legal.

Also for model heights, While not practically useful I want to make my imperial guard slightly taller (to look less heroic scale) Only a millimetre or so. Would this be disallowed?

On plasticard tanks, I am short on money so intend to make tanks from plasticard (probably buying 2 so I know the proportions) will plasticard tanks be disqualified? as it is not gamesworkshop models.

Thank you.
