So there was this Warlock.
Standing on top of a fort.
On top of a hill.

Featuring a nice view.
A nice courtyard.
Inner walls and bottle necks.
For easy defence.
And ample parking for Devastators.

All made from styrofoam. Styrofoam. And some paint.

That thing is a single piece fortress a guy I know has made. It's been around for some time, but he brought it to an Apocalypse game last weekend and I got a chance to take some shots of it. He's no hard core miniature player or anything. He mostly has stuff for smaller games, like Mordheim and Inquisitor (we play it with 28mm models), but that doesn't mean he doesn't like to craft stuff that'd make even GW jealous.

Other stuff he has made, feature this bridge (PIP), this ruined altar (PIP), this hill (there's a cave behind the tree), these hills and much, much more. All styrofoam. He's even making a Tyranid Trygon out of styrofoam, and so far what I've seen, it looks very nice.

Every time I see those, I just want to take my models and terrain out and shoot them. And as I like to share, thought you might want to feel that way too.

I think that's supposed to be Helm's Deep. It's okay. Its game-able, which is what counts.

It's definitely big, but I've also definitely seen more detailed terrain than this. Doesn't stop it from being a pretty cool table addition though.

Yes, it's doable and all, but so is everything else posted up here (if it's not boable, then how can one post picks of it, eh?). But that's not the point really. It's not like something like this sort of stuff is in every player's possession. At least I don't know any players who has. Not even many clubs.

It looks really nice but you'd be surprised how easy that stuff is with a few basic techniques and the right supplies. I guess you haven't been to a Games Day if you say it puts their terrain to shame.

It's decent tabletop stuff and it's always good to have a player in your group with some nice pieces (still waiting on my friends to start helping me out by making some of their own to complement my collection for some variety), but I think you're getting a lot of 'meh' responses due to the subject line. For a lot of hype like that, I was expecting stuff that blows mine away never mind gaming club and Games Day level terrain.

Well, I've seen people who have been around and even worked for GW on various events, and seen plenty of terrain, still take a moment or two to go over these things. And I've seen plenty of stuff done by individuals and groups, that aren't that impressive to begin with.

For a guy in his 20's with a toolbox of tools (as in hammers, screwdrivers, knives, etc. not some fancy crafting tools really), etc. This ain't half bad. To me it even tops some of the GW stuff I've seen. No, it's not mind blowing or the best f-ing stuff in the world, but well above your average stuff. Or do I live in some sinkhole of miniature terrain, where the skills are just so naturally bad compared to the rest of the planet that something like this rises up from the dung pile like a towering weed of awesomeness?

Yes its big, but a little colourless for me. Some more shapes of grey would help. And more details it looks so clean.

The little cave is nice and the big hill, too. But the hill appears to me as not playable.

And the other pieces are big, o.k.

O..M..G... drool.gif Now, that made me wet myself. The detail and scope is astounding. But 30 years? That's dedication.

It's nice terrain and all, but I've seen way better terrain like this Imperial Fortress posted up by one of our very own members... or like the stuff that's sitting right here in my basement. wink.gif

It's good work for sure but not all that hard. I have trouble doing GS work to fix things like gun barrels and armour joints but i could do a styrofoam negative sculpt like that without much trouble.
