Been working on these for some months now.
No arms yet, the intention is to get the bodies cast up in resin then I can work on various sets of arms at the same time.

These are closest scaled to PP (Privateer Press for those not in the know) dwarves (Rhulic is thier race name), they are WAY to large to be GW dwarves. I haven't played Warhammer in over a year due to playing Warmachine, and I don't miss it (but I am going to start playing Armies of Arcana instead to satisfy my big blocks of troops desires lol), but i'm not going to get into this discussion. So forget I even bought this up lol.

Anyway here we go:

The first 2 I have done:

A Character? - this guy was an experiment with Pro-create, and although I think came out OK, I hated using the stuff for detail!):

The first weapons (note the gun was destroyed after this and I still have not come up with a decent version):

Some recent WIP (01/09):

Finished backpack (note I will get it cast up then add different items to the left hand side (i'm thinking canteen, axe, knife, that sort of thing) to get some variations on the backpacks).

Anyway Comments and critisism welcome though I may just blow raspberries at you lol.
I am no professional the first guy is my first "full sculpt".
I got the corks at xmas and they really do help.

EDIT: Oh and incase anyone is wondering there is Red Sculpy (hardend with a hairdryer lol - I used this for bulking out the first few armatures before I got some pro-create for xmas which is far better for the job), Greenstuff and Procreate (grey) along with plastic and brass tubing and the halberd handel I got off a toy I destroyed for parts. The hammer head is hexagonal extruded plastic.

Cheers

Nice work so far. I especially like the grey torso- sharp edges came out cool!

I jsut got pro create myself and found I liked it better. It did not stick to tools quite as annoyingly (I know lube lube lube, but I get tired of that!)

I have also found for hair, fur, and even chainmail it worked better than GS!
I also amde some gnraly fangs and teeth on some Orks that came out sharper looking than GS did.

Has anyone tried mixing Pro create and GS? I know that brown stuff and GS, and some other 2 part putties are mixable.

Hi, thanx for the feedback fellas.

RE: mixing PC with GS. it can be done (as long as they are first mixed seperately). the greenstuff on the back of the mostly grey character sculpt are a mix of the two.

I find with Pro-create, it seems to flake when I smooth it, and as it doesn't stick so well I have trouble using it, ok sticking is annoying but half the time it's falling off!!

I actually have a lot of trouble getting greenstuff to stick to the model when i'm working on small details, let alone PC sad.gif

Found a tiny bit of time to do a little bit of sculpting.

I've given up on sculpting my own heads for the time being, so I bought some from Hasslefree miniatures (with commercial licence)

Here we go, my dwarf joan of arc lol

That is looking good. The Hasslefree head doesn't look out of place and the creases at the back of the trousers are very fabric-like. Are you going to be adding the mini tabard thing with the armoured panels?

Hi, thanx for the feedback.

I'm not sure to be honest about the tabbardy thing, I kind of want to try her out with a few options.

I think she'd look goof for instance with a fully loaded backpack, neckchief and/or Cigar and a sci-fi rifle of some kind. Then I want to try the Tabbard thingy like the concept., however I also kind of want to offer her without it....

I might have to see if I can get her cast as is then try out some arms on her on the casts...

Still thinking about this, I have plenty of time seeing as it wont be ages before I do any more no doubt sad.gif lol

The pose seems right for a backpack, especially if it's sort of top heavy and upside down triangular in profile to mirror the armour bulk.

Not much of an update these dollies are still sitting in front of my monitor while I struggle with boots, but this one is cast (gave her a brown wash to show the sculpt better):

They do cover a multitude of sins, both in modeling and real life tongue.gif

Starting out on the coat, initial layer only at this stage, so this is just to get the shape right really.

I noticed that the coat tails were really different lengths (had they both been straight down the right would have been substantially longer than the left) so i've tried to do something about that too.
I will add the collar and edging after the arms are on as quite a bit of it will be folded over the arm / shoulder.

I've taken the advice from one forum of adding something to the sculpt where his head should be to help me when sculpting shoulders. In this case a Hasslefree miniatures open licence head blank (also I might never get time to do a head, so I might just use this one, not sure if that will void him from the competition, but i'm not likely to finish in time anyway).

So today I started working on the arms, just building the basic shape and working out the pose a bit.

The aim will be for his right arm to be indicating "come on then!" with the fingers curling up... if you know what I mean.

Anyway, enough rambling, here are the pics.
