The time of year has come again, when that speedy devil in red, harnesses up his reindeer loads up his sleigh and takes flight... this year I aim to catch him, but I need your help... I need I need to have some fast attack or cavalry to keep up with him (this Sinterklaas character seams to be able to travel all around the world in one night, and baring an orbital strike i don't' think we can get him)



A new contest has begun!

1 Fast Attack (40k) or Cavalry (Fantasy) (other games can be discussed)


That's right any Fast attack or Cav... single mini, entire unit, just make it GAME LEGAL. (counts as is fine but if it's it iffy, discuss it with me)


CONVERSION AND PAINT... it's all to be considered and judged by your peers... no excuses, convert it and paint it.. (please try to do some thing new and not something from last year, nothing posted before)


1) All entries due by 11:59pm Pacific Standard Time (GMT-8) on the 12/24/07 (December 24, 2007). (need time to attack that jolly fat man)

2) All entries must be submitted with ONE 700x700 max photo (you may make it a collage, you may also send more, but only one will be posted) Any entries not fitting that criteria will NOT be entered (if there is time left you may fix and resend it)

3) All entries will be submitted to "The Contest Guy" (the contest guy may be one of several people, whoever is running that contest, or perhaps multiple people if deemed needed)

4) All judges ruling is final.

5) Voting will begin shortly after the 24th (as soon as the 25th, probably the 26th, i have kids!) and will last for aprox 1 week (I might take it to 2 weeks if i feel vacation is interfearing with people voting!)

And with the remains of his bloated corpse we just may be able to scrape up enough stuff to send out a grab bag of bitz to the winner!

Can this be a vehicle done throught the VDR?

pm me with the idea of it, i prefer to generaly say no to vdr, but if it was sutibly a FA choise i'll allow it

I like this contest, particularly as I don't really emply any fast attack forces, so its a good excuse to make some!

I'm tentatively in. Which probably means a month and a half to doodle and sketch things that turn out to be completely unrelated to my final outcome, and a week to convert/paint.

Fast Attack eh? Well my entire new build is fast attack SM... What if the converts are subtle and thus difficult to spot? :scratch:

yea know you don't HAVE to convert it... what your peers vote for may be the best conversion, or best paint, or best idea... that's the fun:)

usually my converts look bad unpainted (might be the photographer), and most of my conversions are unremarkable as in not obvious. So I usually don't get many points for that :blink:

Anyway, I'll enter for sure. My problem is my latest army is designed to *not* stand out in any way...a form of psychological warfare; in 40K the bigger and brighter the thing is the more dangerous it is. Well, if everything is small and dull it is thus harmless :lol:

Oh and for the record I convert/modify every single model. It is the game for me.

Though I dont plan on doing it, would chaos spawn still work for this contest? :scratch: they are in that fast section but do not take up a force org slot. just though I would help out all chaos players out there.

does a DKoK centaur count? Its not really specifically on the list but its more of an additional option....
Its a fast vehicle and moves much father than other vehicles so does it count as being a fast attack?

if it is in the fast attack then yes, if not then no... rules are pretty simple:)

If it is fast attack it's in, say... pathfinders... they are in, the piranha they ride in is in....

Baal pred, when it OVERCHARGS it's a fast vehicle, it is not in, it's not in the fast attack selection.

if you can get it witht he Fast Attact selection in yor list, then make it so... and remember, game leagal!

BW, its an upgrade option... to many things on the list, plus its permanently fast, so can I enter it or not.

No the centaur is a transport option for 2 units both of them elite choices so it is not a fast attack choice. Just as an eldar falcon is not even though it is fast.

Just build so riders, you know you want to. I'd love to see some in your black paint.

you know not one person has said any thing about cavalry, not including rough riders being as they are a fast attack choice. And I got to thinking about this at work, but would night goblin squig hoppers count as cavalry? sorry but I dont know the rules for those guys.

Shouldn't be a problem with them, they are technically fantasy cavalry (even if they are the WHFB equivalent of giant space hoppers ;) . We need more gobbos in 70s flares...)

Jash actualy would know better then me on what counts as cav in fantasy, and that's why wi put Cav in, for the fantasy players:)
