Title: Necron Super-heavies
Thorvald - March 30, 2011 11:50 PM (GMT)
The begining of my Necron Super-Heavies Megalith and Aeonic Orb. Both will be suitably Necronised. Monolith and Obelisk included for scale comparison.

That's pretty neat and I look forward to seeing what you come up with converting them.. keep us posted and good luck.

It looks cool. It totally what I expected too.
More pics would be really nice, though.
BTW, where do these super-heavy constructs come from, rules-wise that is?

Found these on a forum somewhere on the net.
Type: War Machine, Tank, Skimmer.
Speed: Lumbering.
Structure Points: 6.
Weapons: 2x Solar Flares (360 arc), Solar Burst (360 arc).
SPECIAL RULES:
Living Metal: The Aeonic Orb is subject to the Living Metal rules (see Monolith).
Ponderous: The Aeonic Orb is not destroyed if immobilised, instead it simply comes to rest on the ground.
Solar Flare: Range: 240" Str: 10 Ap: 1 Type: Ordnance 1, Titan Killer, Ignore Invulnerable, Slow Firing (may not fire for one turn after firing).
Solar Burst: Solar Burst functions as per the Monolith's Gauss Flux Arc, except it has double the range and is 1 Str higher.
Regenerate: At the start of each turn, the Aeonic Orb may roll 1D6 for each destroyed weapon system. On a roll of 6, the weapon begins to function once again. In addition, if the Aeonic Orb has suffered Engines Damaged results, they may be rolled for as well (a successful roll restores the Aeonic Orb to its full speed of 6").
Meltdown: When the Aeonic Orb is reduced to 0 Structure Points, roll 2D6 and convert the result into inches. All models within this distance (friend or foe) are wounded on a 4+ with no armour saves allowed. Vehicles suffer a Glancing Hit on a roll of 6. The explosion destroys the Aeonic Orb completely; remove the model from play.

The only change I would recommend is make vehicles affected take a Penetrating hit, or make the glance an AP1 attack due to the fact that a small sun just became unstable and blew out.

Why not use the Deathstrike explosion rule for the meltdown? That is, everything in the area takes S10 AP1 hit with no cover saves. If it's good for a fusion (plasma) warhead, it should be good enough for a sun going supernova.

Does it have to stay plugged in or have you figured a way around that? Does an Aeonic Orb actually exist or did someone come up with it? I mean, of course, exist game or fluff speaking?
The only other thing I can think of would be to make it static, fortress like and leave it stationary. Popped up out of the sand or something. Any idea if we will see them in November?

No it's not an official game piece in any way that I know of other then some experimental Epic rules long ago. At the moment it is still a plug in, but I have a mate who is a sparky so I might ask him to see if a battery pack could be made. The honest truth is this model is going to sit on my shelf, in the ten years I have been collecting and modeling Warhammer and 40k I have played a grand total of four games. The rules to me simply provide a framework to build the models to, in that they sit comfortably within the GW world constructs. By this I mean I would not build a Necron Rhino or put las cannon on a Tau Hamerhead just to gun it up as this is not in keeping with the games aesthetic. I wish I knew what was coming for Necrons but like everyone else I will just have to wait, but some of the rumours I have heard aren't where I would take them but then it's not my company.

Another quick update still waiting on a base and some detail parts but it's getting there.

Epic rules. That would explain why I have never heard of it. So far so good. 10 years and four games? Wow, I get ansy if we don't get a couple a month. We shall see where it goes then.
There are a lot of Necron rumors. New star god and elites as troops. Never been a real big fan but again, we shall see.
