Title: Therians Wraith Golgoth
Description: something that could be used for Dreddy

raziellycas - August 10, 2009 06:18 PM (GMT)
hello to everyone, I like to show you a miniature that I've painted a couple of days ago, it's a wraith golgoth from the therians army in AT-43 a rackham w40k looks alike. This model could be easily used like a dreadnought during w40k games and it could be converted with dreaddy weapons. I hope you'll like it

That's an fantastic paint job! :o I really needed some seconds to realize what it is....thought of a piece of rusted junk first! Brilliant weathering and rust effects on the model which also looks great. With this weapon at the side it looks like some Tau walker. The other bulky weapon looks like a big psi-bolter. Excellent stuff! Is that base scratch build or comes it along?

thanks ^_^

the base is scratch built with things that were hanging around in the tool box, a metal plate, a plastic grill for computer fan, screws etc etc

a really great paint job. this looks like a warmachine for real.

Some models of this AT43-range are really cool imho, this one here and the bigger Walker from the UNA (don't remember the name, forgive me), which could be used as a venerable Dreadnought or with a changing to the legs maybe as a knight class titan.

lovely weathered effect

i actually was considering buying some AT-43 therians stuff

and this is a perfect scheme in which id like to learn how to do.

mainly the way you created the mucky effect, colours used etc

isn't that difficult, first of all the black undercoat, then a mix of scorched brown + boltgunmetal + black on the whole model. some wash with darkflesh, and then with darkflesh and mig standard rust pigment, then only on the metal parts a wash with light rust pigments. Then cover with mask fluid and a sponge in random way to achieve the damaged paint effect. Now the hard part, bleached bone + sand yellow (a vallejo color that I can't remind now, something like parchment yellow) and then a lot of covering layer with more and more b.bone until you are satisfied of the result. Then a wash with smoke ink (the game color range ones, not the model color.. they aren't exactly the same thing, game color one let some kind of dirt when used for wash that help in reach the weathered effect). That's all for the white, obviusly I've highlighted some recess with a scorched brown + old rust mig pigments that make a better effect but isn't really needed. Remove the masking fluid and that's all folks!

I really like that one!

The mini itself looks really nice, has a nice scifi feeling to it.

The paintjob and the base are very well done. It is a pleasure to look at such a mini. Thanks for that!

Could you post a scale comparison pic with for example a Space Marine next to it?
