Title: 3 Heavy Gear Quickstart/demo Armies
Description: 'Cause I'm a Gearhead!

Alright!

Since I'm quite a Gearhead, I've decided to concentrate my modelling project to Heavy Gear. Now, for those who wants to know more about the HG just click below:

Click me! You know you want to learn more about Heavy Gear! :P

You can find the Quickstart rules there --> English or Français

At the end of the QRS, you actually have 3 lists, one for each main factions, which I based my lists on. Since I own many of those Gears so I use the main rulebook, Heavy Gear Blitz! Locked and Loaded, to add a bit of flavour to my list. But, those QSR lists are pretty nice and only require that someone buys a Starter Army Set of the faction he wants. Each Start Army Set is $85,95 USD and gives you access to two nicely detailed squads! Yup! All you need is a handful of Gears to have nice games! You'll find a link to each boxset after each list.

So, instead of my original project to work on my main army, my beloved Southern MILICIA regiment, I've decided to built 3 small forces that are pretty much balanced. That way, I will be able to run demos and played some games with people that don't have HG armies. Below, you'll find the lists for the 3 main factions found on Terra Nova.

Now, here are my lists:

A small step was taken in this project! I've chosen the scheme:

I was suppose to use an Orange and Black one but I decided to go for an official Southern army camo scheme for the Badlands, the desert separating the North and South on Terra Nova where many many fights occur.

Now, I need to buy some paint!

More to come!

Dream Pod 9 might not be the size of GW but IMO, but I prefer the rules of Heavy Gear Blitz! to those of 40K. Much more violent then 40K :)And that's alway why I prefer the rules of Warmachine over 40K... more violent. I'm not saying that 40K sucks, just that it doesn't interest me much as it used to.

My 2 French-speaking Canadian cents! ;)

:vryhppy: Good one! Would have been a funny concept but most battle on Terra Nova occurs in the Badlands, a huge desert...

Well, here's a quick update! I give the 'rust' coat on the Gears of one of the General Purpose Cadre.

user posted image

That's the only pic I was able to take before the batteries died. But the rest of the bitz are also 'rusty'. Now, the next step will be applying some liquid mask here and there. That will protect small areas of the rusty colour from being painted over so once the mask pealed off, the rust will be seen on some parts of the Gears.

More to come! :)

Jon

PS For those who wonder, the rust is a 1:1 mix of GW Blazing Orange and GW Bestial Brown.

This is cool. I like Heavy Gear, along with Battletech...Hell, I even liked the Heavy Gear cartoon series.

Considering I have such a fetish for mechs and alike, you'd think I'd collect Tau...

Thanks mchawkeye!

I've updated my list. The WIP squad isn't in the list but still being done. I'll have the strip them off and reprimed them... it turns out that those a too small to use the technique I wanted to use. I'll work the rust another way.

More to come... eventually!

I was already aware of this contest. I'm a huge HG fan and I'm relatively active on DP9 forum so I'm aware of all updates, new minis, contests, expansion books and so on. ^_^

Anyway, I won't be entering those Demo squads 'cause. I'm going to build one squad especially for this contest. Why? 'Cause I want my MILICIA army to be super detailed. The details on the actual minis are really nice but still, some could be better but would have made the molding process harder if not impossible. So, I'm gonna redo those to make my army the way I want it! (Yeah, I'm a freak! :vryhppy: )

Thanks!

Jon the Gearhead
