Title: Segmentum Tempestus 2nd Amalgamated Regiment
Description: "The Dregs"

Deus Est - April 22, 2008 09:14 PM (GMT)
For a while now I've been wanting to "Renovate" my guard. They have been very neglected since I started collecting back when the cadian box came out. I've made several different armies and several single squad projects with my limited painting and modellin skills, but then abandoned them...
But no more!
I stumbled across the army build thing and it inspired me to create the "Dregs". The fluff reflects what has actually happenned - the shattered (Literally) remnants of several regiments - The Cadian 166th "desert rats", The Elkonian 8th "Makos", The Thracian 1st Mutant Purge Brigade (I was insane when I was younger) and the 16th Armageddon Light Support Regiment (the remnants of which were already in the Elkonian force, and there are now even fewer left).
I want them to be a cityfighing force, experienced, but not quite "Elite", and light infantry with very little vehicle support - except basilisks, the Cadian 166th had loads of them! :

So! Enough of that, on with the list!

Doctrines:
Light Infantry - a must, for these now experienced but lightly equipped soldiers. Also represents their aptitude at moving through city rubble.
Sharpshooters - considering what they've been through, they'd be pretty good shots by now...
Iron Discipline - Thse guys are what's left, who held the line at all costs, and who have nothing to lose bu honour. They aren't running any time soon...
Cameleoline: Lots of cover to take advantage of in cityfight. Plus, these guys know how to keep out of sight...
Special Weapon Squads - I was originally going for Hardened fighters, but is WS 4 really worth 15 points a unit? So there was a choice between this, veterans, and close order drill. Cityfight won't really allow close order, and veterans would be too expensive fo my limit... plus I never got to playtest the droptrooping meltagun-democharge combo so I'll try infiltrating and cover saving them instead.

Sorry about the inevitable grammar errors and wall of text syndrome, it be getting late...

Comments, questions and criticisms welcome, especially on the doctrines.

I like the idea, and I'll be interested in seeing the units.

My only complaint is the unit points....they seem completely wrong. It maybe me but a mortar squad does not cost over 300 points. Just help me out here, please. (actually I can see what you did, nevermind. Just maybe do the individual units costs, saves on the confusion)

About the doctrines, you picked a good mix, just seems your going to end up with a smaller army then usual. Personally I would have picked Hardened Fighters, but then thats me, although I can see where your coming from, sharpshooter will be handier for cityfighting, and the sniper rifles for light infantry add to the theme of the army.

Other then that, good luck.

anaraxe, hes taking the previous units points and adding onto them thats why it seems weird for a 300+ point mortar squad ;)

@Anarnaxe: Yeah, sorry about that, it was late and I was being shouted at to get off the computer
I was thinking about how expensive the units were - the basic cost per platoon squad is 90 points and 75 for command squads
That's expensive...
Some pics are going to be up soon. I have a colour scheme test model, plus a few guys with las(auto) guns, a grenade launcher, a sniper, and a demo charge. Pics as soon as I can... "requisition" my sister's camera...

@byram: Thanks for clearing that up, I think he realised in the middle of typing the reply

Does everybody kiiind of understand the unit designations?

Anywho, pics to come soon*!

After all that time, I finally got a brush and borrowed a camera. However, i dislocated my finger on friday, so the results aren't that good

Testmodel (originally the edging on the camo was going to be Astronomican Grey, but I changed it to dehneb stone and couldn't be bothered to repaint the model. The camo on the cape is poor too...

And the CO. I was meant to paint this when i got some good brushes, but he was the best model to use for my revision reward scheme (i.e. revise a section, paint camo base colours, revise a section, paint armour and top camo colour, revise, paint coat)
The coat is probably one of my best works with greenstuff, and combuines with the aquilla to form a trademark item.
