Human Village, The Human Village

"Well..." Dawn sat back and regarded her friend. "I don't know the whole story, so I can't pass judgment just yet. It would help if you told me." She licked her paw daintily as she had seen the cats around the village do. Jagex would meow at her if she did this, which would result in a merry chase around the chicken coop.

"actually im as clueless as you, i never knew my mother was dead". kiche barked. she needed more information. shadow said somthing about humans killing her, could she have been killed by hunters. "dawn i have to go back to shadowpack. i need to speak with shadow again. threat or no threat i have to renew our friendship". with that kiche ran away from dawn and began to search her yard for any holes or gaps in her fence. she found one and began to dig under it. she squeesed through the large hole and ran off in the forest to shadowpack.

Dawn watched her friend go with pity in her heart. She wanted to go with her, if only to see Jagex again, but Kiche needed some alone time with her sister.

Sighing, she lay down with her head on her paws in the long daily vigilance that was every guard dog's duty.

Before long one of her humans, the adult male, opened the door. Dawn sat up and licked his hands happily. He stroked her, scratching the matted fur behind her neck, and stopped in confusion when he withdrew his fingers with blood on them. He moaned something in the human language and shook his head.

"I was in a fight," Dawn barked. Of course, he couldn't understand her. Humans were such stupid creatures.

Her human scratched his head and went back inside. Dawn dutifully sat down to continue her watch on the ranch. A few minutes later both the adult humans emerged from the dwelling, the human cub trailing behind them. Laughing, she buried her tiny pink paws in Dawn's fur and hugged her tightly. Too tightly. A year ago Dawn would have wiggled away in disgust, but now she just sat patiently until the clumsy pup released her.

Lucky her humans seemed to have no sense of smell at all, for both the scent of wolf and Kiche lay thick in the dew-heavy grass. Dawn let her tongue hang innocently out of her mouth as she went over to eat some food while her humans jabbered to each other in their unfamiliar language.

The adult female came over while she was eating, far too close. "Stay away, I'm eating," Dawn growled at her. The female drew back and waited for her to finish. Then she knelt down and examined the cut on her shoulder. Standing up, she embarked in an even faster conversation with the adult male that made Dawn's head whirl.

Suddenly the adult male grabbed her around the middle and lifted her into the air. Dawn hated being carried. Absolutely hated it. "Put me down!" she snarled, but the human took no notice. Yelping to the female, he put her inside the smelly machine he went to work in.

Dawn growled and sat down on the floor of the machine, glaring at her humans. Then, she heard one of the few human words she could understand - vet!

The machine pulled back into the driveway, and Dawn staggered out of it, barely making it to the front porch before dropping to the ground and curling up in exhaustion.

Her eyes burned from the acrid smoke the machine put off as it raced along the black ground, and her head was still whirling with the strange scents and sounds in the other dwelling they had gone to. There a human wearing a white overpelt had jammed narrow claws into her, made her eat something that made her feel dizzy, and finally wrapped up her shoulder in a white skein of strange-smelling material. At first she had growled and tried to rip it off, but it tasted so terrible she finally gave up.

At least her shoulder didn't hurt much anymore. As her humans passed on their way into the dwelling, she growled at the adults, "You stupid things! Can't you see that I was doing perfectly fine on my own?"

But, as always, they ignored her.

Kiche had started to limp again halfway through the forest, but ahead of her only a few tail-lengths away was her yard. The sight of it gave her strength and she limped to the fence, but, almost imediantly the strength vanished from her in an instant. She had forgoten, she doesnt know how to open a fence door.

The thought made her fall to the ground panting, what could she do? But something popped in her head. She slowly moved her head up and let out a long desperate howl for her human's attention. A minute's later the adult male walked out of the house with something wooden and long (a bat ) only to drop it when he saw her.

He quickened his pace and called something back to the house. The gate popped open and she limped inside to have him feel around her fur and stop. He withdrew his hand with fresh blood among it, a minute later the female adult came running to Kiche hugging her with water in her eyes. Kiche was still so confused on how dramatic human's could get. Both human's began speaking to one another rather fast for Kiche to understand. Then the Adult male grabbed Kiche and shut her in his work vehicle. Finishing the conversation with his mate he licked her before getting in the vehicle and driving away. The last thing she saw before leaving for the vet was the human pup waving goodbye.

Dawn glared at her humans for a few moments more, then limped away to rest her head on her paws in front of the porch.

Before long, she scented the air and her hackles lifted. There was a familiar scent on the cool spring breeze, but it wasn't the one she hoped for.

"Kage," she growled, and rose to her paws.
