Christmas is closing in us fast and I am looking forward to it..
what do you guys like the most about Christmas? what could you not do with out? for me I put tradition very high on my list and this year will prove to be with out not much of my traditions as I am gonna celebrate it with my boyfriends family and be away from home for my first Christmas. I think it will prove strange but I look forward to it none the less, I look forward to being able to celebrate it with my boyfriend. one think I could not do with out would be the Christmas star we have in our window. this star has a really special story behind it. for as long as I can remember, that star have been hanging from the first of December to the new year. so last year I saw it hanging in a window where no one really saw it and we had moved to our house and had no star. so I asked my parents if I could have it for the house for the next year. my father asked me if I would really take away his Christmas star that since he was little have been been hanging up every Christmas. the star itself is at last 40 years old. I felt I had to ask my grandmother as well since all in all the star was hers first. she was rally happy that I wanted it so much and my father let me have it (the last years, he and my mother had figured it did not fit in the living room anymore and my father hanged it up since it had to be up every Christmas). I had to take a trip to my home town just before December to get it and take it with me on a three hours bus ride to get it back home and I was so dam careful with it so it would not be broken and yet as I got home and just wanted to test and see that it worked, it lighted up for a second and then died. I was almost in tears, I was so sure I had broken it. my boyfriend, (bless him) told me could fix it and went out later in the weekend and got a new cord and plug for it, as he was gonna fix it he took out the blob and heard that ringing sound when you shake it... so all that was wrong was the fact that the blob was dead and just needed a new one so.. well at least we have the cord should it be broken at some point. so now that star hangs in our living room window and lights up the room and yard. I really care for that star and I could not have had a Christmas with out it. even less now that I know how long it has been in our family. -------------------- ![]() "The Name`s Lightingtooth, but call me Lighting"- Ligthingtooth avatar draw by my Friend Gemini |
