Shadowy Effect

I was looking through the forums, and I noticed one of Gold's old sigs that have a really sweet shadow effect on the render...It's not a Drop Shadow, because I couldn't get one to work for me, at all. (If it is, tell me how )

I think what he did was duped the render layer, transformed it by skewing it over. Then he selected it, made a new layer, feathered the selection maybe 1 or 2px. Filled it with black and turned down the opacity. Plus he deleted the skewed render, so all you have it the shadow. that's how i would approach that.
