For Liz and Marccc. Yay! ^^

Early in a spring afternoon, after a long and exhausting ride with his horse, Marc was returning to his bedroom. Or, as he should really put it, thebedroom that he was borrowing until he had enough money to buy his own house in town. Just because he was a stable hand at Willow Creek Stables didn't mean that he felt entirely comfortable with being a sort of freeloader. Sure, he would help out wherever he could, and would never refuse to do a chore if it was asked of him, but he didn't feel entirely right about taking a guest room in Liz's house.

Marc had just finished changing out of his riding gear, setting in over the back of a chair in the room, and had changed into jeans and a tee-shirt. His blonde hair was re-spiked, and Marc was looking into the mirror in his room, making sure that he had cleaned all the dirt off of his face. He and Blaze had spent a hard afternoon of riding together. Blazing Fire's exercise routine had been less than satisfactory, and Marc was going to get him back into shape again if it was the last thing he did.

Looking into the mirror now, he noticed that his facial features were clean and clear as crystal again. He hadn't been paying a lot of attention to how he looked lately, but smiled towards himself. He had been doing a pretty good job keeping up looks. He looked towards the door, that was wide open as usual, and walked over somewhat quickly to shut it more. It was still open a little bit, but that was just for modesty. He didn't think that anyone was in the house, so it didn't really matter, but just to be safe he didn't really want anyone thinking that he was looking in the mirror in his spare time.

'I need some music or something...' he thought, looking towards the desk that had been provided for him, and noticing the small radio he had brought from home. That would work. In a few seconds, he had crossed the room, and turned on the radio, scanning through frequencies until he came up to a song he actually enjoyed. The tune was soft, with piano, and Marc's blue eyes instantly softened. "Watch my life, pass me by..." he sang along, "in the rear-view mirror." He loved this song more than anything. As he leaned against the desk, he continued, "Pictures frozen in time... are becoming clearer. I don't want to waste another day, stuck in the shadow of my mistakes, yeahhh." He stood up fully, and looked into the mirror, singing, "'Cause I want you, and I feel you, crawling underneath my skin," he smiled, "Like a hunger, like a burning, to find the place I've never been." He put his hands down by his sides, walking towards the mirror slightly, "Now I'm broken, and I'm fading, I'm half the man I thought I would be." He closed his eyes, and then sang in a softer tone, "But you can have... what's left of me..."

Hey, he didn't want to be a singer for nothing. He loved singing, he was good at it. It was his dream, and it had been for years. He was going to sing someday.

OOC: hahaha listning to the song now!

IC:
"Come on now. You have to come in sometime. I swear you'll get back out." Brining in Favor from the pasture was harder today then it should have been. Coaxing her into her stall was not working either. Usually Liz could take her lead rope off and Favor would go right in her stall and turn around so her halter could be taken off. This time it wasn't working. She planted her feet, and was not going to move easily.

Liz had already tried to go in her stall and pull her in but that resulted in Favor pulling her head back a few inches saying Im not going. Liz unclipped her lead rope walked behind her and pushed her rump to try and get her to move. She turned around so her back was against Favor and pushed with her back. After it didn't work she did it again but this time took the end of the lead rope and tossed it across her own body and hit smacked Favor's right hind quater. It didn't hurt her, there was not enough force, it was just enough to get her moving.

It did. Favor jumped and went right in her stall. After closing her stall and hanging her halter and lead on her door she headed to the house. As she got in the house she looked around, no one was here. She took off her riding boots and threw them in her office. She ran up stairs taking down her hair at the same time. Going straight to her room she walked into her bathroom.

Thirty minutes later she was out of the shower and dressed. She was putting a black belt on and then she put her favorite multi-colored tall socks on. As she went to open the door she heard someone singing or something. She had her left hand on the door knob and her other hand flat against the door. Turning the knob slowley with her delicate fingers, she pulled the door open. Thankfully the door did not creek, she pushed her sidebangs out of her face. The carpet on the steps and through the halls were carpeted as well so it made it easier for her to tiptoe down the hall.

She only had to take a few steps to get to the door the sound was coming from. The door was slightly open so she did not want get in front of the door and disturb the person. It sounded like a guy, she thought it was Marc. The guy she was letting stay at her home until he got one. Leaning against the wall right outside his door she listened. He was singing a good song, well at least he had good taste in music.

After a moment she slowley looked through the door and saw him. She didn't want to scare him, but she just said what she had to. "Nice job singing. Sorry I couldn't help but hear you, and I wanted to come see or hear rather." Smiling she hoped he didn't mind her being there.

I <3333 this song.

Hearing the music reminded him of home, in a way. He used to sing for money, at clubs or bars. He'd never sing his own songs, since he rarely finished them anyways, but it was still a big part of his life. This song, in particular, he could feel the meaning behind every single word. He wasn't sure if he was doing the song justice, the way that he was singing it. He didn't feel so much emotion, as much as Nick Lachey had. He cuold feel everything in this song, every piece of sadness and longing. How could he imitate such an emotional song?

"I've been dying inside, little by little," he sang, making his tone stronger than it had been at the last line of the chorus, "Nowhere to go, but going out of my mind... in endless circles." He clenched his hands into fists, and nearly yelled the line "Runnin' from myself until... you gave me a reason for standing still...." He was trying to hit the emotion so much, and trying to feel these emotions with everything he had. It would take a while, but he was going to do it. He was, however, so caught up in singing that he hadn't noticed anyone standing at his door. He didn't feel he was being watched.

However, when she spoke, he jumped, and turned to his right to look at the door. He was standing at the other side of the room, and stopped singing in order to stare in awe at her. She was listening the whole time? He must have been such a dork, or looked like an idiot, singing with the radio in his room and watching his movements in the mirror. "U-Uh..." he stammered, not really noticing what he was saying, as he looked at her. His eyebrows were furrowed lightly, confused and shocked, and he had a very serious, almost strange expression on his face. "Thanks... I, uh, I'm glad you liked it," he said, smiling, not really used to getting praise like that for his singing.

The song played on without him, and he ooked back towards the radio for a minute. "You can come in if you like. I don't mind singing with an audience, if you want me to keep going," he said, walking over to the door, and smiling at Liz. He pulled the doorhandle and opened the entrance to his room, so that she didn't have to hide out by the doorframe for long. "Was I being too loud?" he asked, wondering if he should have turned his volume, and the radio's volume, down.

The second chorus was just ending, and he looked back to the radio again. "Fallin' faster, barely breathing, give me something to believe in, tell me it's not all in my head," he sang, looking at Liz, a smile bright on his tanned face. Now was a musical interlude, and he started to walk back towards the back of the room and towards the window. The sunlight was streaming in, and he looked into it, and sang, "Take what's left of this man... make me whole once again." He looked back towards Liz, and smiled, the sunlight hitting his face and highlighting his hair. He hoped that she didn't mind how he sang the song, even if it was a little dorky. He couldn't get kicked out of the house for being dorky... right?

After she had spoke it took him a minute to realize someone was talking to him, or it seemed that way to her. She watched him jump and then realize it was her standing there that had spoken. She didn't mean to scare him or anything but she did. "Im sorry I scared you." He almost looked shocked someone was listning to him, or that anyone was even home.

"Thanks... I, uh, I'm glad you liked it," She smiled letting her teeth show, a few of them pointed. She hated how they were like that it made her look like a vampire, but oh well she'd have to deal with it. "Your Welcome, Pausing she listened to what he had to say next."Sure, and yeah keep singing."

She took a few steps into his room and slid down to the floor. She didn't want to sit anywhere else because it was his room and that would just be abit odd she guessed. Becides she liked the floor, sometimes she'd sleep on it because she liked it better then her bed.

Watching him sing was entertaining, in a good way of course. He was good, now Liz had only ever sang in a school chorus. So she had only done piano written music, nothing like today's music. Sure she had sung to herself, but she sounded stupid. Well that's what she decided. She also sang to Favor sometimes, but Favor didn't care so it worked out fine.

As he finished the song she clapped lightly, smiling to herself she answered his last question, "No you were fine. I didn't even hear you until I came out of my room. The shower in there is loud. But if this went on at eleven at night then we might have a problem." She smilied even more, thinking about how she sung to her horse. It seemed dumb at this point. She liked to sing alot but not infront of people, she didn't know how Marc did it. " So hows everything going with you and Blaze, right?" Now that the song was over they needed something to talk about so it wasn't awkward.

Marc was glad that she liked his singing. He was glad that somebody liked his singing, if he had to be completely blunt about it. He didn't have many fans, and even in his home town, the people who heard him normally forgot about him through the many drinks of beer and the intense hangovers. Not many remembered him being the singer that he was. He liked to sing for people, and in front of people, but even if there wasn't anybody there he liked to sing. He always sang whenever he and Blaze were just taking a cool-down walk, or something like that. Blaze didn't really give feedback though... he just kind of walked along, flicking his ears now and then.

He now noticed, as the song ended and another came on, that Liz was sitting on the floor. "Do you want a chair? You don't have to sit on the floor..." he said, turning down the radio volume a little, and then pulling the chair out from beneath the desk. It still had his riding gear on it. Marc grimmaced, wondering why he hadn't remembered before, and walked over to his closet, hanging up his clothing where it should be hung up. "Here you are," he said, moving the chair so that it was right next to her, as he sat on his bed.

He looked towards her, and listened to her question. "Yeah. Blaze seems to be settling down nicely. He's gotten really lazy though; it took us forever to get going this morning," he said, smiling as he remembered Blaze putting up a small fight to keep just to a walking pace, rather than anything else. "How about you and your horse. Favor was her name, right? I saw you walking her out into the pasture this morning," he asked, explaining his reasons clearly for the question.

"By the way, Liz," Marc said, "I really appreciate everything you've done for Blaze and me. Thank you." He hadn't really told her that he appreciated everything she did, as far as lending him and room, and Blaze a stall, and everything. "Do you know when we're expecting any new students or anything? And, do you need me to help with anything?" he asked immediately, looking curiously at her, and then added in sheepishly, "I just... y'know, felt like I wasn't doing that much, and wanted to know if you needed help...'

Liz sat on the floor watching Marc, they hadn't really talked that much until just now. Even now it was more like singing. He asked if she wanted a chair and before she could answer with a, "No Im fine." there was a chair sitting next to her. Not wanting to seem rude she got up and sat in the chair this time. Listning to him talk about how he and Blaze were doing, and the horse's lazyness thismorning.

She smiled as he asked about her own horse Favor. She'd had Favor sense she was around two years old, and their bond was amazing. Liz had never connected with another horse like she did with Favor. What she liked most about her was unless she was riding her, she'd buck and not listen at all to anyone else. "Favor, she's good. We had abit of a problem getting her in the stall before I came inside, but I got her in there."

Thinking back on Favor's yonger years Liz remembered how hard it was to get her to even go over trotting poles when she was teaching her to jump. She'd almost gotten throw a few times because Favor would stiffen her front legs and slam on the breaks. The next thing she thought about was how it felt to get her over a jump finally for the first time without any trouble. Favor even being a smaller horse sure could jump. Liz wasn't going to push her any higher then 3'3, seeing she was getting older, and she soon would not be moving like she was two years old.

Snapping back to what was happening she caught the last part of what Marc was saying, "Your Welcome. It makes the house less lonley, and well at least Blaze has a place to stay." He also asked was there anything he could do to help, as a matter of fact, he could do the simple job of watering which Liz hated.

"If you want you could do me a huge Favor and water the horses when they need it. That would help me a bunch. And don't worry to much about helping. If I need help, trust me I'll ask." She didn't mind him staying here, as long as he would help out when she needed it.

Marc nodded towards her, and asked, "Favor's usually no trouble then, huh? I normally don't hear anything bad about her. But the stalls can sometimes be tricky; Blaze is like that sometimes." Blazing Fire wasn't normally any trouble at all; he was a very shy horse, powerful, but shy. He was the only horse that responded normally to Marc, and Marc only. Blaze normally backed off, whinnied, bucked, etc. with anyone other than Marc, which made it harder for other people to handle him. Moving away from his parent's house so long ago meant that Blaze had to come with him; Blaze wouldn't even trust Marc's parents.

"And I'm sure Blaze really does enjoy being here. Lots of open air, and a lot of grass," Marc said, looking up towards the ceiling as put his hands behind his back and rested on them. "I guess it kinda reminds him of my parent's place. Nice and open. We had a little farmhouse, pretty far from here, kinda like this place," he said, remembering the place where he was born, where he grew up, where everything happened. Truth be told, he kinda missed living there. Being with all the farm animals, galloping through town with Blaze, and all that. He missed working that hard, but he also liked having a little bit of a break as well.

Marc looked back to Liz, and smiled lightly. "Of course. I'll water them, I don't mind. As long as I can help out," he said. To Liz's comment about asking for help when she needed it, Marc smirked, and said, "I'm sure about that. Just wanted to offer up my services just in case you needed someone to help, but didn't know who." He shrugged, sat up straight again on his bed, and said, "I just like helping out. I don't want to be like a freeloader or anything. Y'know?" The smirk returned to his face, and then he said, "Besides, even if I went public with my singing, I don't think it would help too much, huh?"

Liz shook her head slowly indicating Favor usually was never too much trouble. She was always pretty good, and like anyone she had her off days so Liz couldn't hold that against her. Even today's little stall squabble wasn't anything huge. Who cares if she didn't want to go in her stall, who would? Being in a 12x12 box with nothing really to do. She'd much rather be outside running, bucking, exploring.

Hearing him speak about where he used to live made her smile. She didn't know much about this person so it was nice to hear him talk about his life. "Well I'm glad Blaze likes it. The grass is defiantly a plus, to the horses that is." She scrunched her nose at the thought of eating grass herself, it didn't sound to appetizing.

She was glad he agreed to water when the horses needed it. That took up so much of her time, because you stood there waiting for a bucket or two per horse to fill up. There was nothing to do to pass time, and it's not like you could really multi-task. "Nah don't worry If I need help with anything I'll let you know." She smiled once again leaning her head back against the wall. Now on to his singing, she did like it but yeah it probably wouldn't help him too much, except put some more money in his pocket. "It'd put a little extra money in your pocket. But around the barn, no. Unless one of the horses like to be sung too."

Her head now off the wall she laughed, picturing Marc singing to one of the horses while he was watering. She sung to Favor sometimes but it's not like the horse knew what was going on. So it really was her singing to herself.
