Rockpaw trotted along the borders, stopping to renew the scent markings in some places. He kept his jaws parted and his ears pricked for any immediate danger. Looking back at his father, who seemed a bit better, he felt a touch of warmth for the cat. A squirrel shot out from a bush right across the apprentices path. Rockpaw leapt after it, his tail streaming out behind him. He caught it with a quick flick of his claws. Taking it up in his jaws, he brought it back to Sixstar, realizing he hadn't eaten when the fresh-kill pile was restocked.

Hailpaw padded ahead of Sixstar as Rockpaw went after prey, his jaw parted. He could catch a faint whiff of rogue but it was from before. As Rockpaw padded back, he paused, glancing over his shoulder.

Sixstar had been moving at a steady pace, but kept silent, eyes open and every muscle tense. He needed to be ready, he needed to be able to fight. He glanced at where Rockpaw had just been, He kept his jaws parted, he could only scent prey and the forest but that was it. Nothing to worry about yet. He continued forward briefly until his son came padding back with a squirrel between his jaws. At the sight of it, he felt his stomach rumble with hunger.
He curled his tail with amusement, proud that his son showed that he was concerned for another cat. "Thank you," he purred.

Rockpaw dipped his head, and started to remark the borders again. Once he was finished he padded back to where his brother and father were. "Sixstar, how long will it be until we are made warriors?" He asked, his tail twitching anxiously. He didn't want to upset his father at all, but he desired to know. And with no mentors, surely they were due for an assesment of sorts.

Sixstar lifted his head, his gaze meeting with Rockpaw's. He swallowed the mouseful of squirrel he had before speaking, "Your time to become a true warrior is nearly upon you, but..." he paused, groping for the right words. "I haven't been well enough to observe how well you hunt and fight nor have we any mentors to praise you as to how well you might have done," he explained, taking a last bite of the squirrel and rising to his paws.

Hailpaw couldn't help the disappointment that he felt, they still had some time before they could become warriors! It was unfair. They had trained, they could hunt, they could fight! And Sixstar said they still had a while to go.

Rockpaw glared down at his paws, flexing his claws into the almost frozen earth. He thought for a moment. There needed to be a loophole or a way around this. Surely there must be some cat that could asses their skills. They pretty much taught themselves all they needed to know. Maybe their father could teach the more? And then it hit him like an enemy's claws. "Sixstar, why don't you asses us? Then you would know what we are capable of. You'd be able to decided difinitively wether or not we are ready to be warriors." He mewed, his claws remaining unsheathed.

Hailpaw pricked his ears, chiming in an agreement with that idea. Thank Starclan Rockpaw was his brother!

The leader's gaze swept over his sons after the question, thoughtfully. "Mmm, yes, I believe that will work," he said after a short pause. "Once we get back to camp, I will arrange when to assess your skills," he said, his voice warm and strong at the thought. "Until then," he continued, padding forward, parting his jaws. "We should continue our patrol."

Rockpaw nodded vigorously. "Yes, we should." He agreed warmly, his whiskers twitching. His fur stood on end in excitement. The gray tom stood up and began trotting on the path that ran along the treecut place. His jaws were parted as he kept alert for the rogues or kitty-pets. His tail flicked back and forth, very pleased with himself.

Hailpaw padded after them, his tail in the air, excited and satisfied. They would become warriors soon! He caught up with Rockpaw, falling in beside him, clearly satisfied with what had just happened. Now all they had to worry about were the crowfood-eating rogues.

Sixstar had taken to renewing the bordermarking, his ears pricked.

ooc: There's not really much else that can happen, right? I mean we could just post that they went back to camp, or we could actually start a new topic at the camp? Whatever you want to do is fine.

Ooc: XD Aye, quite true. Sure, we could get back to the camp and a new topic would be better.
