Rules

Respect every member on the board.

Do not flame, bash, insult, or act rude to any member of the board. Members are all entitled to their own opinions. If a member treats you poorly, don't return it. That will only make the situation worse for both of you.

No spamming. SPAM = Stupid Pointless Annoying Messages and includes anything already mentioned in the rules. It also includes excessive 1337, chatspeak, and emoticons. Keep in mind that the Admin, Gemini, is a Grammar-Nazi.

No Earth-based swearing. Remember that regular obscenities don't exist on Pern. Instead, use words such as 'shards' or 'shells.'

No pornography. You may not link to sites containing pornography, or include them in your posts.

Absolutely avoid being sexually explicit or vulgar in your posts. ANYWHERE. This board will be kept at a mild PG-13 rating tops. Any offending threads will be deleted ASAP. If you really, really want to, take it elsewhere. Instant Messaging or something.

No art theft! If it's not your own, please give major credit to the owner, and preferably get permission from them.

Avoid double posting. If you must add something to a post, click the edit button. It's there for a reason, people! While not a serious offense, it is one looked down on.

No advertisements. At a future point in time, there may be a forum for advertising websites,m but until then, keep it in your signatures at most.



Please report offensive posts.
If someone has broken a rule or is spamming, flaming, or anything of that matter, report it. It will be dealt with much faster in this manner. The staff can't be everywhere all the time. (Well, we can right now. Just wait until this place is bigger!)

Failure to abide by these rules may result in warnings or banning.


Sanctions and Punishments

Rules are enforced strongly on the community, and breaking them is strongly discouraged. Punishments are issued in a system called the "Warning System".
The system works in a 3-strikes-and-you're-out manner. For committing offenses numerous times after receiving notices, you may receive a warning describing the offenses you've broken within that day. Repeating the offenses after that will quickly gain you another warning.

Once you've accumulated 3 warnings (or will be receiving a warning) you will be banned temporarily. The length of the ban depends on the offenses given for all three of your warnings. Continuous SPAM may earn you 2 weeks ban. Repeat offenses after this ban may double the ban given or end it at a permanent ban.

Evasion (Making a new account while banned) while you are banned will see your ban period doubled. Continuous evasion may see the ban doubled up to 6 months or topped with a permanent ban.

Members who have just joined (or just have no former posts) who SPAM, flame or depict pornography may immediately receive an indefinite ban.
