Ryu's Mission

[Ryusuke]

Ryu just crossed the border into the Land of Earth. It was twilight, so the second he saw the landscape change to that of the barren land and rocky mountains of the Land of Earth, he collapsed onto the ground with a sigh and set up his camp.
He unloaded the supplies and tried not to remember. Though he couldn't stop the random thought of mom woulda never sold a ninja a piece of junk like this or she NEVER woulda let food this stale be part of her stock! go through his head.
So he tried to distract himself. He built a small, smoke-less fire and set some food to cook on it. While it was cooking, he got up and went to the top of a small hill there. He walked quietly and listened. He didn't hear anything but small animals from the other side. I wonder where those shinobi I'm after are? he thought.
He scanned the horizon but didn't see anything. Typical, the Cloud ninjas are all good at concealing themselves.
He made a few seals with his right hand and touched them to the base of his ear. All the nighttime sounds were immediatly amplified. He listened toward the interior of the country, toward where he assumed the Cloud shinobi's destination was. For quite a distance all he heard was animals and normal nighttime sounds.
There! he thought, zeroing in on a pair of noises that were definitely NOT normal nighttime ones. A pair of voices.
Not too far, considering the head start they got, Ryu thought. If he traveled with very little breaks the next day, he could gain some more ground and might catch up the day after.
That settled, he walked back to his camp and ate a nice meal (only slightly burnt ^^)

She really hated this place, it was so dirty and dusty. By the time they were done this stupid mission she would have to spend days cleaning her cloths, not to mention that she wasn’t sure if she would ever feel like she had all the grime off her body. ‘I don’t even see why Jounin have to do this, a Genin group could have done it just as easily.’
Looking over at her partner for this mission she was met with the same blank stair he always had. It was a little unnerving really. She wanted to know if he was having as much discomfort with there surroundings as she, but hell would frees over before she asked.
When he stopped suddenly and pulled off his backpack, as if to make camp, she looked at him questionably.
“What are you doing? There's still half an hours left of sun, we can cover more ground yet.” He looked at her blankly and she had a strange feeling that he thought her a fool.
“It will take almost half an hour to set up traps around camp, and I for one would like to do that when I can still see.” He replied calmly, in his normal cold voice. He didn’t understand how this women had made it to Jounin level, he was sure she had some how cheated on everything that required thinking. But she was a strong shinobi when it came to fighting, as long as she didn’t have to strategies.
He had been right about the amount of time it took to set up the traps and camp. By the time they had just finished there was only a pink glow left from the sun to allow them to see where there bed rolls were. Although they had traps they were still going to take turns with a watch.
No fire was made to give away there whereabouts or to blind them to the darkness. This had been something he had insisted upon, with a fire your eyes got used to the light and when you had to look out into the night you would see nothing but what's infront of your face.
She would take first watch and although she thought it stupid, who would attack them?, she did it with only a little bit of complaining.

Ryu woke up as the sun began to rise above the horizon.
He silently but quickly packed up his camp and erased all traces of his being there. And he set off again.
It was a long day, but like he'd thought the night before, with an early start, late stopping time, and limited breaks, he actually caught up with the ninjas that night. They'd stopped on the edge of a small forest to set up their camp. Ryu had crept up and set up camp in the farther into the forest. He neglected a fire, being so close to the enemy camp.
He did the same thing as the night before and listened in on their conversation.
He was greatly troubled by what he'd heard the two discussing, and walked back to his camp. On a second thought, he packed up his stuff and jumped quietly to the top of a tree. He would have to take care of these two before the night was up, but he had to do it quietly, and he had to do it rested. So he secured himself near the top of the tree and fell asleep.
He would awaken in the middle of the night, put whichever was sentry to sleep and then...
He smiled a bit... then the fun would start.

[Faith]

‘This is just stupid, I don’t need help, Iv never needed help on a mission before. And now some sound shinobi was going to be apart of my mission?’ She didn’t dare say anthing out loud for a need to keep hidden but if she could have she would be muttering right then.
Running through the barren land she kept her eyes peeled for any movement other then her own, feeling the disadvantage she was at. She would have felt much safer if this mission had taken place in the fire county.
She had set out a few days ago, about a day after the sound shinobi. After traveling for days with little brakes, the first day with none which hadn’t been a good idea, she felt she was close to catching up. Her speed was something she took grate pride in and another reason why she liked to work alone, being able to move faster.
Night had fallen a few hours ago and she was just coming up to a small forest. The didn’t seem to have many of those here so it would be a good place to take cover. Coming up to it she noticed three bodies outside the trees, one was laying on the ground and the other two were sitting, she could only guess the two were keep watch. ’Better keep low.’
Quietly making her way into the forest before stopping and thinking back to what she had just seen. The report had told them there had only been two unknown shinobi. So the third had to be a new member or a clone. moving so as she could see the shinobi camp she kept as still as possible and watched, comparing the two guards. ’Yep, clones.’
Unconsciously she checked her gear, scrolls in place, shuriken and kunai knifes at the ready. ’I never did find that sound shinobi. His lose, my gain.’ She thought, smirking to herself.

[Ryusuke]

Ryu had woken up and had gone back to the cloud shinobi's camp. As he approached he noticed that there were more than two figures in the camp.
Damn, he thought, they made clones. Oh well, more fun for...
He froze and noticed someone else in the forest looking at the camp. As he got closer, he recognized her as Faith, the Leaf Jounin he'd met outside the village gates.
What the hell is she doing here? This is my mission!
He creeped up on her silently and dropped down to her side.
"What the hell are you doing here?" he whispered, "this was my mission!"

[TPC Jounin]

He looked up from where he sat at the edge of their camp, his turn to guard. Nearby his clone was gazing off into the distance, and his team mate was fast asleep. Looking around he squinted through the darkness. It was a clear night and he had a good view into the forest in front of him. He could have sworn that he had heard something... un forest like.
He quietly created a clone to stand guard at his spot and strode over to his team mate, waking her.
"Someone's watching us," he whispered as quietly as he could. All she did was glare at him and roll her eyes.
"You woke me up to tell me that? What? Can't handle it by yourself?!" She snapped back quietly well pushing back her blankets and getting up. With an angry look at her, he turned back towards the trees and pulled out a kunai. After a few minutes, she joined him, her hand resting on her katana and eyes scanning the trees.

[Faith]

Rolling her eyes she cursed under her breath. 'Found him.'
"Listen, I don't want to be here as much as you don't want me here so deal with it, but do it quietly." She hissed through her teeth, glancing through the trees at the enemy shinobi. Grinning she looked over at Ryu again.
"Three of them, think you can handle it boy? Your little friend doesn't seem to be her to help you out." She said mockingly. She didn't have anything against Machika, she rather liked the girl, but she was in a weired mood and it was either annoy him of kill something. Hopefully she would get around to the second soon.
Grabbing a kunai knife she stood from her crouching position before jumping up onto a tree branch.
Turning her focus back to the mission her face was whipped of expression and mind emptied. Her only thoughts were now on what to do about the two shinobi and the one clone. They couldn't afforded to lose this fight, if even one of the shinobi got away and ended up making it to the Rock Village the mission would be a faile. The Rock Village would know about the alliance proposition and there would be nothing more Konoha, nor Oto, could do.
Putting the kunai knife between her teeth to free her hands she began making rapid hand signs activating the most common and effective Genjutsu ability. Laying it over the enemy camp she made the cloud shinobi see and feel the illusion of the ground being on fire. Using their chakra against them she forced it to their legs and up words, creating the feeling as if they were burning from the 'fire' around them.
Watching she waited to see what would happen. This and most Genjutsu techniques were easy to counter for shinobi of very high intelligence, and Faith wasn't putting enough chakra into the move to keep anyone in the illusion if they were smart enough to try and dispel it. The only purpose of this move was for two things, first to use up some of the enemies own chakra for the move and when they dispelled it, and second to see what kind of shinobi they would be up against.

Ryu got out some kunai to try to hit some of them, when Faith did something.
What are those cloud people doing? he thought.
"What did you do?" he whispered. He'd missed her hand seals.

[Faith]

“Not to bright are you?” Faith answered in a low tone. She wasn’t willing to explain it to him incase the cloud shinobi heard her and figured out that it wasn’t real fire like in ninjutsu.
“If you’re going to do something useful then the first one to attack is yours.”

[TPC Jounin]

((OOC: all right, I have no idea what kind of moves cloud shinobi know so I,m just making this up))


Panic flooded through her body as fire covered the ground under her and her partners feet. Instantly her lags started to burn and she screeched in pain. The only thing she could think of was getting out of the fire, not even taking notice of the other cloud shinobi anymore.

Watching the fire with wide eyes his first thought was on how dirt could catch fire, and when the burning started he was almost convinced that it was real fire, if not for his doppelganger. Because he hadn’t used a high ninjutsu like Kage Bunshin no Jutsu his clone did not have chakra and there for it had no chakra flow that could be used against him.
Quickly he dispelled the genjutsu and yelled at the other cloud nin to do the same. Not looking back to see if she was listening he sent his doppelganger into the small forest beside their camp. Using it’s eyes to scout out where the unknown attacker was hiding.

[Faith]

’The girl!’ It seemed the girl was the less knowledgeably when it came to genjutsu and would be the easier for her to fight. Not that she couldn’t take them both out, but she hadn’t been on a mission like this in a while and was itching to use some of her more complicated moves.
Turning slightly to Ryu she slapped him on the back and pointed to the doppelganger and the man it belonged to.
“They’re all yours sparky.”
Making the proper hand sign she left the tree branch and appeared behind the female cloud shinobi. ’Let’s play.’

[Ryusuke]

Pft, I'll sparky you! Ryu thought, jumping down to the ground.
It's no high class clone, so it probably doesn't have chakra to use, he thought.
He came up behind the clone. He used some chakra to make sure he didn't make any noise, and he pulled out a kunai.
Then he was behind the clone, and with a quick slice across the neck he finished it.
Now to help Faith... though I don't see why I should. She obviously likes sharing a mission even less than I do. But it's still my mission too.
With that he ran silently back to the cloud's campsite so he could help Faith.

[TPC Jounin]

He felt his Doppelganger disappear and instantly pulled a kunai out and held it ready, eyes scanning the trees infront of him, waiting for who ever he would be facing to show themselves.

The fire disappeared and seconds latter the burned all but stopped leaving her with a sense of relief. Seconds passed and nothing happened but there was only one thing on her mind at the moment. ’Why aren't my cloths burnt?’ But she didn’t have time to think about it as her eyes shot up, wide and searching. A large amount of chakra was being used.... behind her!

[Faith]

“Kokuangyo no Jutsu.” The words rang in her mind as she watched the pitch black envelop the cloud kunoichi infront of her. The second it totally surrounded the cloud nin Faith finished the Genjutsu with the last hand sign, making it so she could not see the darkness.
Watching the kunoichi look around wide eyed and stumble around Faith smirked before silently walking up to the women and whispering softly in her ear.
“Are you lost?” Jumping back when the women turned to the voice continued to taunt her, whispering from behind and at her sides before moving and doing it again. After a time she started adding more.... physical features into her taunting. Never making a pattern of where she would show up next, Faith would add a kunai nick to the women every time she failed to catch her.
Soon the women was covered in little cuts and a angry look was burning in her eyes. As Faith stood not a foot infront of the nin she began to laugh, her voice echoing in the darkness for the cloud kunoichi.
“It seems your mission didn't work out.” The women's eyes went wide as Faith appeared behind her, grabbing her head and twisting it sharply tell she heard and felt a crack.
Letting go of the body it crumpled to the ground well she ended the genjutsu.
