The alarm clock rang loadly next to her head. Nabe groaned. Hitting on to the off botton hard so that it would shut off. She lay in bed for a few minutes before a light bulb practically went off over her head. She sat up with a start. "No! It's the first day of school!" She cried. Similar cries could be heard throughtout the dorm house and she flopped backwards onto her pillow groaning. After a few minutes of self pitty she pushed herself out of bed and got ready for the day.
As she looked in her mirror she saw the many pictures she had taped there. One of her family. One of her two best friends, and one of Mark. She smiled and blew a kiss to each in turn. "Wish me luck!" She chimed happily and ran out of the room to go get breakfast. On her way out she paused. "Oi! Wake up already! Time for school!" She yelled to her room mate. Also known as her best friend in the entire world. Henriette. -------------------- Be crazy! Because well behaved girls never made history.

As soon as she was sure that her roommate, and close friend, had left, Henriette pulled the blankets off from where they lay lightly, covering her entire figure.
Rather than the touseled hair and comfortably wrinkled pajamas that adorned her recently waken form, she was fully dressed, and her hair already styled as well as it ever was, with its choppy, uneven cut and eternal tangles. She had even already eaten, packed her bag, and laid out and gone over her entire schedule for the day. She was an early riser by habit, although she took pains to make it appear otherwise. She could have just woken up, gotten ready, and left early to enjoy the temporary peace, but the thought of being alone, and of everything being so absolutely silent, as though the world were waiting for something to happen, something horrible and momentuous... No, she didn't think she could stand that. Not if she wanted to get through each passing day with as much of her sanity as possible thoroughly intact. It was safer now though, what with all the people. Scooping up her bag, she rushed out the door, instantly melding into the rushing throngs, most of which far more confused than she, until she caught up with Nabe, coming into stride with her. "You ready?" she asked, although she already knew the answer well from the hours they had set aside to mindlessly discuss thr pros, cons, expectactions and hopes of this oncoming year. -------------------- All we are is dust in the wind.

Nabe turned to look at her friend and smiled. "How do you always do that?" She teased. Refering to the already dressed girl. "And of corse I'm ready! Mark-Sama comes back from his summer get away today!" She smiled at the thought. She held her camera in hand and was subconciously taking pictures of everything in sight. "Oh wait! Stop right there! Don't move." She told her friend. Snapping about ten-million repeated pictures of her. Taking some of herself as well. "What was I thinking? We need first day photos don't we?" She lauphed a bit and made a quick turn away from campus.
Instead of heading towards the school she headed towards the gardens and with increasing speed. When she got there she wasn't surprised to see her other friend Odori sound asleep in the flower bed. Nabe kicked the girl slightly to wake her up. "Get up!" She demanded. Odori looked confused for a second but when she realized the two she sat up. "What?" "A student councel member HAS to be there the first day!" She prompted. Odori groaned but hoisted herself up and began to walk with the others. -------------------- Be crazy! Henriette smiled, having known almost word for word her friend's response.
Mark again. Although she personally liked him, as friend of course, like most people did, she was by now weary of hearing Nabe utter 'Mark-sama' for what time she had long lost count of. The girl was infatuated, bordering on outright obsession. Of course though, as a good friend, she was fully supportive of this crush, and typically kept an eye on Mark's affairs when she had the chance, and when she felt particularly generous, would talk to him when Nabe wouldn't, just to find out little things about him that Nabe loved to hear about. It wasn't as though it was hard. He was a pleasant guy, and more than easy to talk to, or get information from. She actually enjoyed those chats, as he was always ready to talk with anyone who struck up a conversation, and he never failed to be polite and kind. Also, she didn't talk to that many people, and variety never hurt. At least it hadn't so far, and that line of thought may have been why she lacked said variety. Either way, she could see Nabe's attraction to him. "Hello, Odori." Henriette greeted the other girl, who she was on very good terms with, even if they didn't converse much outside of school. She had spaced out too much, as usual, and had barely noticed the girl until she was already walking beside them. In fact, she'd barely noticed that they'd made it this far in the first place. -------------------- All we are is dust in the wind.

Odori smiled. "'bout time I'm seen!" She joked. "Nabe. If you hurry on now I beleive the Prince's car is being parked in the main driveway. If you go now we'll catch up with you latter." Nabe's eyes grew wide and she ran on ahead. Yelling a few thank yous on the way. Snapping pictues the entire time.
Nabe had made it just on time. As she reached the main drive way the princes car was just now driving up. She took as many pictures as she could and those she couldn't she snapped into her memory. With what she did have though she could easily make a movie out of. She looked over them and swooned whenever Mark got into the picture. Obviously resolting in a lot of swooning after he had gotten out of the car. "Hi Mark-Sama!" She cried happily as he walked by her. Obvious hearts flying all around her head yet invisable to all but herself. -------------------- Be crazy! Because well behaved girls never made history.

As her friend ran off, Henriette instantly felt less comfortable, simply from the removal, even temporary, of something she was accustomed to. In this case Nabe, who had run off just like she knew she would. She always did run off whenever Mark came anywhere near view. That never stopped the growing paranoia though. Repitition never did. She really couldn't blame her friend though. It wasn't as though she knew. No one knew. Not even her family. This fact never helped her, but it felt easier than trying to explain, and the mixed sympathy and confusion she would get afterwards that only made things worse.
Although she had contemplated staying with Odori, even if that was less easy without Nabe around, she changed her mind quickly, figuring it didn't matter if she intruded or not. With a small sigh, she nodded to Odori, "If you'll excuse me." before dashing off in pursuit of her friend, dodging and weaving through the slowly moving crowd, all of whom were less than eager about starting their first day. The door opened rather slowly and leisurely as Marrku, who was better known as Mark or Prince, stepped out. Even if you only took a brief glance it would pretty obvious where the latter of his nicknames originated. The car behind him had a new and expensive look to it, and was void of all but a few bits of dirt that looked as though they'd only been aquired on the way there. Which they might have been. If you happened to have glanced at the car's interior, you'd see soft, luxurious seats, and a man in the front seat who was obviously a paid driver. After giving the driver, who took little notice, a cheery wave goodbye, and closing the door, Mark turned around, looking quite pleased with the world in general. On him too, signs of wealth were obvious. Even though he wore a regular uniform, it was neatly pressed, and definately brand new. He had a nice, clean-cut appearance to him, which in some way definately mirrored his personality. "Oh, Nabe-chan, hello!" with one parent of proud Japanese ancestry, he had yet to lose his habit of adressing people using honorifics, and many people had caught on to that, and had begun to use them as well, which suited him fine. Even if he didn't know why so many girls insisted on adressing him as 'Mark-sama'. "How was your summer? It's nice to see you again." his voice was cheerful as he moved on to the next topic with barely a pause for reply, "And where did Henriette-chan go? The two of you usually hang out. I was hoping to see her again as well." -------------------- All we are is dust in the wind.

Odori sighed and just waved her good byes to Henriette.
Nabe felt a pang of jelously when Mark remembered Hennry but it quickily left as she was her best friend. "Oh shes coming. She's always been a late sleeper after all." She smiled a bit. it had been two and a half months scince the last time she had seen Mark and she wasn't going to let anything get in her way. She could feel the onlooks of so many envious girls but easily brushed them off. With each passing millasecond her face began to turn a slight shade of pink. Making it look as though she was waring a slight bit of blush for make-up. "My summer was great!" She went on. "And it's good to see you to. I missed you a lot." She blushed a bit more at this comment but tried not to show how embarassed she really was. -------------------- Be crazy! Because well behaved girls never made history.

Mark's grinned at the girl, not seeming to notice her blush, or that anyone was watching. For his general awareness, they might as well have been alone there, at the edge of the crowd. "I'm glad to hear you had a nice summer! Mine was cool too, but although I love our summer home, I'm glad to be back. People aren't so friendly there." his grin only widened as she continued, "Really? That's great! Well, I mean, it's not great that you had to miss me, but it's nice to know that your friends think of you while you're gone. I missed you too!" to his own ears, this sounded like a pefectly innocent statement between two decent friends, but the ears of the surrounding girls who heard turned pink with embarassment, and especially jealousy at hearing those words directed at someone else.
At that moment, Henriette managed to wiggle her way through the last of the crowd with a final effort that jerked her a bit too far forward, and nearly caused her to fall on her face where Mark's car had been not too long ago. "Woah there, don't hurt yourself on the first day!" Mark said, catching her by the shoulders before he even saw who it was. When he did notice who it was his grin managed to grow even more, however that was possible. "Henriette-chan! Long time no see! How are you? Did you have a nice summer?" he jumped straight into the pleasantries, still with his hands on her shoulders. "Oh, Mark, good to see you too. You and Nabe were who I was looking for. I'm fine, and so was my summer. Yours?" in a quick motion she stepped backwards to both regain her full balance and remove his hands from her shoulders. While they both knew he would never mean anything by it, she wasn't sure how Nabe would take that. "Just great! I missed you and all my other good friends though." he enthusiastically told her, not seeming to have noticed her stepping back from him. She laughed, remembering once again how catching his good moods are. "I missed you as well." that was definately the truth. Although she wasn't half so attached to him as Nabe, she couldn't help but miss his incessant cheerfulness. -------------------- All we are is dust in the wind.

Nabe's blush deepened dramatically at his words and her smile grew wide as well. Again the pang of jelousy came when Mark had cought her but she tried not to show it. "Hi Hennry!' She stated. Hoping to hide all of those feelings. The bell to get into school rang and Nabe whirrled around in surprise. She hadn't realized how late it had gotten. In the attempt she lost her balance slightly and almost tripped herself. Catching her fall at the last minute with her arms to protect her face. She rubbed the bottom of her back as it had made the hardest colision with the ground and she cringed slightly. School hadn't even started and she had already gotten her first bruise of the year. Quickily she pushed herself up. Her entire face now flushed. Quickily she grabbed Hennry's hand and began to run off towards the school doors. Waving good bye to Mark as she went. "Bye Mark-Sama! See you later!"
She dragged Hennry through the doors. Taking a flurry of pictures as she went. Easily able to make a quick film movie out of them. With her foot she pushed the doors open to the school. They were the first students to enter the house all year and Nabe was documenting every last second of it. Out of the corner of her eye she cought some movement and took rapid shots. It looked like...a bird? A bug of some kind? She wasn't sure. "Come on!" She stated. Letting go of Hennry's hand and running up the stairs to get to the second floor. "We're on the third floor this year!" -------------------- Be crazy! Because well behaved girls never made history.

"Alright then, bye." Mark waved after them, slightly disappointed that at least Henriette hadn't managed to stay to walk to class with him. He wasn't too surprised about Nabe though, she had a tendancy of running off after she ran out of things to say. Maybe Henriette was just being dragged along. That would explain it. Fully comforted by this thought, Mark began at a quick pace towards his own classroom, cheerful as ever.
She barely managed a half-wave before being dragged off by Nabe, as was customary when they talked to Mark at the same time, in the few circumstances that happened. She let her friend guide her threw the crowd, only attempting to go a seperate direction in the event that she nearly ran into someone, in which case a quick step to either direction sufficed. As soon as they were officially on school grounds, Henriette began to examine every square inch of it, including the sky and behind her, as she always did whenever she entered a place. Even if it was somewhere she knew well. Her mind wouldn't give her a fraction of rest until she did so. It was this particular habit that led her to catch a movement, half-way into her peripherals, but still enough in her main sight that she caught a good glimpse of it. She froze up at the unexpected movement in the sky, trying to discern exactly what it was from the fragments she had seen, if slightly blurrily. It was winged animal of some sort, though of wrong proportions for a bird. It was too large to b most insects, but it was too think to be a butterfly or dragonfly. She shook the thought though, crediting it to not enough details and mainly her own paranoia. Throughout the years, she had thought she had seen all sorts of things, mainly near or in her peripherals. Although she had kept quiet about them during her latter years, after she was considered too old to be seeing monsters in her closet, they still lurked there, sometimes. That must have been what it was. An unnerving thought though, that even here her treacherous imaginations followed her. With an involuntary shake, she pushed the thought to the back of her mind, where she could worry about it later. Getting to her first class was a far more pressing matter. -------------------- All we are is dust in the wind.

Nabe ran into her room. Being sure to set a trap or two for the bitch of the school. Last year they had gotten the better of her, but this year for sure she was going to beat the hell out of her. She took a seat in the back toawrds the window. Flashing pictures of everyone who came inside and everything she saw. Outside the window she noticed Odori standing with a group of rood stern looking kids. odori didn't seem happy, so Nabe guessed it was the rest of the student council. Thoughts of what had happened with Mark flashed in her mind and she burryed her face in her hands. How could she have been so stupid! And when they first saw each other again too! All the times he had mention Hennry came at her at an alarming speed and her heart sank deep into her stomach. To an experianced eye it was obvious she was depressed but to those who hardily knew her she just looked to be gazing off into space.

Henriette walked into the new classroom a minute later, still wrapped up in thoughts of which she saw. Or more likely, didn't see. Despite that she had told herself, repeatedly, to put it out of her mind, it had a troubling way of worming back in the second she let her mind wander. Unfortunately, it was her first and possibly foremost surival instinct to let her mind wander away like that.
Now she didn't feel like she was really safe in the real world or in her mind. Not a good feeling. So distracted she was that she didn't even notice when Nabe shot on ahead. She knew the way by heart, so it wasn't an issue, but had she been paying more attention, she would have been distressed at suddenly losing sight of her friend. Either way though, she made it, and was surprised when she looked around to see Nabe already in her desk, and, if she wasn't mistaken, looking rather upset. For whatever reason, none of the people who had already come in had taken the seat next to her friend, something for which she was greatful as she quickly snagged the seat for herself. "Nabe, what's wrong?" she only had to lean over slightly to ask, even in a quiet voice. This was actually solving two of her problems at once. The first being that she could possibly cheer up her friend, and the second being that she could take her mind off of her own problems to worry about someone else's. -------------------- All we are is dust in the wind.

Nabe glanced back at her friend before looking back outside the window. "Are you sure you want to hear?" She asked in an equally quiet voice. "It's got to do with Mark-Sama..." Before waiting for a responce she turned to face Hennry. She sighed slightly then took a deep breath. Almost as if what she was about to say was so painful it hurt to even think about it. "I think Mark-Sama..." Another deep breath. "I think he...he likes you..." Her eyes became sullen at the thought. She had no problumb with Hennry and if she had to loose Mark to someone her first pick would be her. Yet just the prospect of Mark liking another girl...She tried to clear her mind of these thoughts. She glanced out the window and saw something fly by. She turned her head quickly to see what it was but nothing was there anymore. She heard one of the other girls saying that a bird had just flown by so that must've been what it was. She looked back over at Hennry. Half watching the door to see if the betch would walk in and fall for the traps she had set.

This statement caught Henriette almost completely off guard. She had been expecting something of a totally different nature, though, knowing Nabe, probably still about Mark.
But Mark liking her of all people? The very thought of something like that sounded laughable. In fact, she almost did laugh, until she remembered just what a serious matter this was to her friend. It certainly wasn't laughable in her eyes, and she knew that if she succumbed to the temptation of laughing, it would only make things worse. "Mark? Like me? I don't think so." she replied, frowning now, "I don't think he likes anyone, to be honest. I don't even think he'd know what you meant if you walked up to him and asked him if he liked someone. Where would come up with an idea like that?" she only had to think about it for a second before an answer popped up, completely obvious. "Oh, is it because he's so nice to me? I know he's nice to everyone, but you're probably thinking that he's extra nice to me. Well, you're just not thinking. If you'd stop and consider the possibilities before jumping to crazy conclusions, you'd know why. It's just because I'm so often talking to him, and hanging around him. Mainly because you want me to. He's said openly at least a few times that he thinks I'm one of his best friends, just because I hang around him so much, finding out about him so that you can know more about him than most anyone. He likes me as his friend, and certainly nothing more." When she finished her little speech she realized she was speaking a bit louder than she had originally intended to, but luckily no one seemed to be paying a whole lot of attention to the two of them, caught up in their own private conversations. -------------------- All we are is dust in the wind.

Nabe crosed her arms over her desk and put her head on them. "Mabey..." She mutterd. Her eyes were closing now and she was on the brinck of collapsing into sleep mode had she not heard a beautiful sound outside.
"Gah~!" Nabe's eyes fwipped open and she ran to the door. From here you could just see the betch's locker, and how it had been discovered full of old chewing gum. Nabe had been working on that all summer long. With the help of Odori's all acsess key of course. The betch's name was Karin. She was rood, obnoxious, a pain in the butt, and the most popular kid in school without a station of automatic power. She could do almost anything she wanted, when she wanted and no one ever cared. Much less did anything about it in return. Until a few years ago that is. When Nabe came to this school. She wasn't about to let her get away with what she was doing. So the two of them had raged war. This was how it was going to start of this year. And this year, Nabe wasn't about to leave her camera lying around in plain sight. -------------------- Be crazy!
