Captain Hester and his first mate, Kesh, sat in chairs leaned against a small wooden building with a sign saying:

"Crew Needed For The Tradesman. Anyone will do. 4 spots open. Doing 'risky' Business needs to be okay with all applicants.'

"so, Kesh, do you think we will actually get anyone?", Hester asked The Large, Minotaur sitting next to him.

"Maybe, Maybe not, I just hope for anyone other than elves", Came Kesh's deep voice. As he said this, he looked at a small elf across the road. The elf instantly an off.

'Hmm, You truly need to stop doing that.', Hester refrained from laughing.

Kesh got out of his chair and looked around a little. He yawned and then looked at their tiny ship. She was just over 100 square feet. He was not happy with her appearence and kept saying they should get some money to paint her. The letters T, and R were almost scratched off the side. Maybe they would come back to this very port and do some pirating. They didn't even really need a full crew. The ship only required two people. So if no one came, they could just do everything themselves.

Ishi studied the little ship with an appraising eye, chewing absently at his fingernails as he did so. He occasionally cast concerned glances over his shoulder, ducking his head and returning his attention to the Tradesman after having scanned the crowds for a while.

An incident on the other side of the city had very nearly resulted in his arrest. It was his own fault for not paying proper attention to the positioning of the market guards, but he was hardly going to go to prison just because he had been foolish. Oh no… much better to just get out of the city with all speed and wait until they had quite forgotten him.

So here he was, at the docks. At first, it had been a choice of which ship to stow away on… but now it seemed that he had been presented with the opportunity to spend his time in plain view of whoever captained the ship in question. There was nothing worse, after all, than being cooped up in the hold of a ship, hoping that the voyage was only going to be a short one and that no one would notice you.

He wandered over to the dwarf and the minotaur.

“You still looking for crew?” Ishi enquired. It seemed fairly obvious that they were, but he felt obliged to ask all the same, wearing one of his most winning smiles. Hey, first impressions were everything. Although, he got the distinct sense that they meant nothing here—it was probably something to do with the ‘anyone will do’ written across the sign.

Kesh looked at the Faun, "you are looking to join?" He asked as he looked him over, "You aren't the law or anything, are you, because we don't exactly-"

Hester hasd kicked him in the shin, "We don't exactly want to keep you from yoiur duties if you are.', He said through gritted teeth.

'Yes, we wouldn't want to keep you.", Kesh said.

Ishi laughed shortly at the idea that he could look in any way affiliated to the law, and shook his head.

“No, I mostly try to avoid that crowd,” he replied with a crooked little smile tugging at one corner of his mouth.

Of course, he was aware that he seemed to be getting himself into something that was unintended for the standard law-abiding citizen… but at least it would get him out of Jycan. Besides, he would surely be safer with people who aimed to avoid the authorities than with a crew who had nothing to fear from them.

At the mention of policing, he cast another wary glance over his shoulder, as if fearing that the mere mention of police could bring them down on him. The milling crowd seemed harmless enough and so the faun turned his attention back to Hester and Kesh.

"In that case. I am Captain Hester, and this is Kesh. We are, simply put, Pirates.', Hester said. He glanced at the Tradesman, 'that is our ship. A Faster and Finer one you won't find."

A large, red, Demon stood across the street and looked at the small vessel. He wondered whether or not they would pay him if he joined. They probably would not, but he could still go mess with them. Talbard walked across the road and stopped by the faun and the sign, "This rowboat couldn't make it half a mile before springing a leak."

Ishi looked up at the demon as he approached, and was rather unsettled to see that Talbard was nearly twice the height of the little faun.

He looked to the captain, upon deciding that looking at the demon would only put a crick in his neck. Indeed, he was already wincing slightly, but not because he was in a particular amount of pain—no, he was wincing more because he imagined that Hester was probably fairly fond of his ship, and that he wouldn’t take kindly to the insult.

“You’re awfully tall,” Ishi observed briefly, turning to look back at Talbard… or rather, at Talberd’s feet, because looking down seemed vastly favourable to looking all that way up. Perhaps he was hoping to avoid a confrontation. Perhaps, just as likely, he simply felt like his input was needed.
