I think it would be a good idea to be honest, When i play the game i sometimes take the route of cash cow Activision or EA. Making games which would be the "DLC" for another. But instead of the game implementing it, I make a standalone game called "[GAMENAME] DLC PACK" or something like that, with low stats and a quicker development time.
It adds to the realism and makes the game better for me smile.gif

What do you guys think?

I think that sounds like an interesting idea, and something that could add to the game.

it would be good if it added some sort of sales boost to the game if it was good, so for example;

You make the Battlefield games; sells brilliant.
2months into it you make a map pack; sales go up, players online raises.
another 2months you make another; sales go up, players raise again.
4 months later you make a dlc collection; sales go up, players raise.

This would go good with my subtitle idea. where you can make a sequel, lets say the first one was GTA, it could be called GTA: Vice City, a sequel just not a numbered sequel. If you wanted to make this game in the game it would have to be a standalone game so if it was good then you'd make a sequel called GTA: Vice City 2 which is unrealistic. Or the ability to make a sequel with a different name. for example clash of the titans and wrath of the titans.

that would be good for things like Sims games with Sims Pets, Seasons, Nightlife etc.

Suggested this as well.

Would be a good idea to implement in to the game.

It would be a good idea. I actually tried to make something simular in GB3, but that totally screwed up the balance of the game. But yeah It would be ideal if that could be included in GB4.

thank you for replying smile.gif i didn't think it would be complicated... my bad.

I do enjoy the game as it is, just that towards 2000s i usually give up because it becomes too long to make games and the sales arent that good.

Brilliant game overall though, spend well over 100hours on it smile.gif

I think others have found a similar problem late in the game. It seem like at some point you get some ultra-successful platforms that hang around for 8-10 years with only 10%-20% still in use so developing games for these platforms doesn't make much sense, yet these platforms keep killing the newer ones before they can establish themselves so developing for the newer platforms really isn't a good option either as they may have a high percent still in use but only a small number sold before it is retired. This problem has been discussed in at least one other thread, though.

Something that would go hand to hand with this is having the ability to change the prices of the dlc (also having that for the game itself would be good too). This would allow you to make free DLC, which could push the game sales up. It would also allow you to make free to play games (if you could change the price of the game as well), so you can add dlc to it...

Additional DLC content, sell content locked on the disc as DLC (and just about piss everyone off.)
