came across this today http://www.mdickie.com/downloads.htm There is one game there called Under Development that looks like a Gambiz style game
But with 3D cutscenes and more RPG like - you start off as a single coder/game creator, and can create and customise your character in 3D, plus stats etc much like current RPG games. |

Good find! This guy looks like a prolific developer with tons of free games. I found an interesting wrestling management game (Wrestling MPire 2008: Management Edition), the first one that looks like it's any good since the on again, off again development of ESWF. |

I've played a couple of this guy's games and they all are basically the same, I think. (I may mix him up with someone else.. but I recognize the images) I don't really like those games, though. Don't really find them fun - just confusing. My opinion, of course - Feel free to prove me wrong and make me have another game to try out!

It looks like he uses the same 3d engine for all of his games, and reuses code, graphics and animations whenever he can so that might explain why his games all seem similar.
As for the confusing part, IMO having more detailed instructions would help with that, I found the games confusing at first as well, but with some trial and error, and what instructions he does provide, I have been able to start to figure some of them out. Due to the lack of instructions it just takes time and patience. IMO that's not a bad trade-off considering he's released all his games for free. If I had to pay full commercial prices for them I'd, of course, expect a full commercial quality instruction manual for each game, but for free games designed by one developer working alone, much like nino does, it's not bad. |
