Ok here is a beta English translation of the old PC version

http://205.196.121.16/55hy3xik104g/slumgcz...GamedevBeta.rar

You need to run the game save editor first to make it English - enjoy!
Has a realism mod option

In many ways it's a lot like Gamebiz! Although the Android and iOS versions seem different based on Youtube gameplay videos of those versions.

You can take on client work to get extra income, inbetween making games, improving you tools/engines etc. Even create your own console

The PC versions is quite different from the Android version - the PC version seems more complex.
You can also have more than one team from what I can tell as well, unlike the portable version.

from the guide above - the Android version does not allow for a lot of these

Invest in Genre Variety: Improve the selection of genres you can potentially get when making a game.
Invest in Infrastructure: Improve the amount of game units you can manufacture in a single week slightly. This will be done automatically based on your management selection
Purchase Technology. Will be explained separately.
Get a loan from the bank (30% interest!) lists current loans.
Purchase computers to develop e.g. 16/32/64 bit games. These don’t do anything except let you develop that set of games (and below).
Management options: Auto-investment in infrastructure at 3/100 million cash on hand, or manually. Send workers to rest automatically at never/100/80/60 stress. Return workers at 40/20/0 stress.

and target audience etc

QUOTE

You start out with one employee, two game development tables, 8-bit computers and a license to develop on the MSG game system.  Hiring a few people is a good move at the start.

Left-click on one of your game dev tables to bring up the development menu:

    Original Game
Sequel (requires certain # of sales)
    Game based on Manga
    Cancel

Pick a system and a target audience:

Your developers will decide what percentage of work they should devote to each aspect of the game (Japanese left, English right – order is the same)

全年齢 All Ages
小学生 Elementary School
中学生 Middle School
高学生 High School
青年 Young Men
おじさん Middle Aged
おじいちゃん Grandparents

again more details/options in the PC version
QUOTE
Once you’re ready to ship, you get a cartridge/disc size automatically based on the game’s size in KB, then pick an amount to ship (the number ending in 本) and the price point (in 円).  The table shows the cost per disc then the cost for this shipment at the top, and the revenue per sale and then total revenue for the shipment on the bottom.  You can also enter your game’s name above the number to ship (using English helps to pick out your game in awards ceremonies smile.gif )

And from what I can tell you don't level up your people on demand, they gain experience points and level up RPG style on their own. Which is how it should be

This game looks interesting. I'll d/l it and take a look. There might also be some good ideas to suggest to nino for GB4.

cool.gif

EDIT: I just tried playing the game, I found it hard to figure out what's going on or what I'm supposed to do because most of the text is still not translated so I can't understand it. It looks like it might have some potential when the translation is done.

I played Game Dev Story on my Android a lot, around a year ago, too.
It became way too easy after a while though so I lost interest but the basic gameplay was good. Especially for it just being an android game. If there is a PC version that's more fleshed out and more complex I would be really interested in it. If it's japanese however.. I don't think so wink.gif tongue.gif

I tried the game 1˝ years ago or something like that on the PC. My impression of the game was actually goos but it seemed very easy, but i played it with japanese texts so i probably missed out on some good stuff.
Make sure to keep my adviced if there is something that you would like to be added in some way to the GB series.
