So...I just went and saw the Half Blood Prince earlier today. Some things I liked, some were a bit disappointing. Such as: Horace Slughorn wasn't at all like my mind conjured. I saw him as a bit more...jovial. No Bill and Fleur romance. Need I say more? Luna finds Harry with spectrespecs (or whatever they're called). Isn't the whole point that they don't work and that it was just some silly thing made by the Quibbler? The kiss between Harry and Ginny wasn't at all up to my expectations. And, finally: the huge battle between the Order and Death Eaters at Hogwarts. No, I'm not confusing the sixth with the seventh book. There was a battle at Hogwarts during the sixth book as well, just not as huge in the seventh. In the movie, Bellatrix Lestrange just ran around the Great Hall (with, I believe, nobody else in there) and set Hagrid's hut on fire. Those were the things I didn't like. Now, as for the things I did like: Lavender Brown. Not at all like in the book, but, for some reason, I liked her this way. It made it a bit funnier. Not saying that I didn't like Lavender in the book, or that I like this more, I just simply liked it. The memories in the lessons with Dumbledore. Surprisingly, the ones that they put in the movie were quite close to the book. The bathroom scene with Malfoy. Quite well put together, in my opinion. The whole Ginny-Dean subplot. I actually thought they wouldn't put it in there, but it was in the movie, despite how small the role is. When everyone crowded around Dumbledore's body, they all lit their wands. This was very moving and sort of made you realize, "Wow. Dumbledore's dead." Those are just my opinions. Tell me what yours are. Whether you liked it or not. What you liked about it and what you didn't. Compared to the book what you thought (goodness knows I made enough comparisons to the book...). Honestly, I thought that as a movie alone, it was excellent, but as a Harry Potter story, it lacked some plotlines.

I LOVED it. As you said at the end, it lacked some stuff with it being a Harry Potter movie, but as a movie, it was excellent. The beginning sort of made me go "ehh" cause there were no dursleys AND HARRY LIKES GINNY DAMMIT, NOT SOME GIRL WITH COOL HAIR. ALTHOUGH GINNY HAS COOL HAIR. BUT YEAH. - I LOVED LOVED LOVED the wand scene. that was so moving, and just seeing everyone crying, it just made me cry. I seriously did.
- The battle was disappointing, although it made me laugh at Bellatrix xD.
- The lack of funeralness was disappointing, but the scene they replaced it for was beautiful. What with Fawkes and everything.
- there was one thing I DETESTED. DETESTED DETESTED DETESTED. I didn't like the new scenery. It didnt fit in my opinion, and I had always seen the Hogwarts grounds kind of like the grounds in POA and GOF.
- I didn't like Harry and Hermione and the crying scene. I liked the actual scene, it was well acted and the birds made me happy, but Harry isnt supposed to know! just like Hermione doesnt know about Ginny. well, they do know, but not as early as THAT. D:
- I liked the poisoning with Ron. It was important and made me go 0_0 because Rupert acted so well and the hospital scene made me laugh.
- There was a few things that confused me. Anyone else notice that the tables at lunchtime weren't organised by house? Like, when Lavender is staring over at Ron, she's sitting beside a Gryffindor and several Hufflepuffs, and a few seats down, a Slytherin and Gryffindor are reading or something.
- I NOTICED THIS EVEN WHEN IT WAS JUST IN THE TRAILERS PEOPLE. WHY WERE THE DE'S TAKING DOWN THE MILLENIUM BRIDGE? HBP IS SET IN 1997. THERE WOULDNT HAVE BEEN A MILLENIUM YET SO WHY DID THEY TAKE DOWN THE BRIDGEEEEEE.
- The burrow fire scene with Harry and Ginny made me go AMG I WANNA SEE. it was AMAZING. I loved how pieced together it was and it made me squee.

I loved the movie, like I normally do, but of course there were some things I didn't like and some things I did like. Pretty much all the things that you disliked were what I disliked. There was no Bill&Fleur, and I was a bit disappointed with Harry and Ginny stuff too. I liked it but I felt as if there wasn't enough. Like the kiss. There were some Harry&Ginny parts that I really really loved, when they were having dessert and Ginny walked in and Harry stood up. I loved it. Slughorn was different then how I pictured him but I surprisingly liked him. The Luna finding Harry didn't really bother me that much. The battle bothered me a bit too, but I felt everything important was there.
Now the things I liked...... I loved loved loved loved Quidditch in this movie. In the movies I always got bored during that part. & This time I liked it. I liked how hard-core it seemed. It makes you see how different it's become since the SS. I also loved the uniforms XD. I really really really liked all the Malfoy stuff in the movie. I thought everything was great. I especially loved the bathroom scene& the scene where he trys to kill Dumblerdore. I loved when Ron ate the chocolates from Romilda Vane. I loved Cormac, he was just as annoying as I imagined him in the book. I loved the memories and I loved the cave scene.&& My favorite parts were the Ron and Hermione parts. They always are my favorite parts of the movies/books. =D
Edit: Wasn't Dobby in this one? I'm not sure if I'm confusing the books or not. Sorry if I am, but if I'm not that is also something I didn't like. No Dobby D:

First of all I would like to say the midnight showing was so fun just to see everyone dressed up! I wore my Slytherin uniform (Hellz yeah). There were people dressed like Dumbledore, Snape, Voldemort, I even saw a Beatrix look-a-like.
I was also really impressed with the MOVIE itself. The acting was EXTREMELY well done on Tom Felton's part. He did a wonderful wonderful wonderful job portraying Malfoy as being confused and lost. Also, Emma Watson (as usual) was the best out of the trio. Rupert also did a fabulous job. I felt Daniel's acting was adequate but he could have been a little better with Dumble's death. Nevertheless, the special effects were also amazing and the actor for little Voldy was AWESOME. Exactly how I pictured him to be.
However, when it came to staying true to the book, I was severely dissapointed. The Half Blood Prince is my favorite book out of the whole series and I felt they missed a LOT of important details. First of all, WHERE WAS FLEUR AND BILL!?!? There was NOTHING about them in it which really really really upset me. Secondly, they covered NOTHING about Greyback. They barely introduced him and you never heard anyone saying his name. If I hadn't read the book I wouldn't even know that he was a werewolf.
Also, the Burrow Scene was SO.UNNECCASARY. The Weasley's house burned down and that was it. There was no extreme battle, Greyback didn't attack anyone, and Beatrix didn't get any shots at anyone either. It really upset me that they added that scene and took away the battle at the end. I think it should have been the other way around.
Also, I wish they hadn't spent to much time with Ron and Lavender. I thought that they should have sacrafised that in order to show more of Draco's struggles because the book was based off of that. And I also don't think they spent enough time with the actual potions book that Harry had.
Lastly, I thought they altered the entire mood of the book. To me, the book was very dark and depressing with the death of Dumbledore, the inner struggles Malfoy had, the relationship drama between Ron and Hermione, and Harry's struggles with Ginny. Instead of depicting this, I think the directors spent too much time trying to make the movie funny. They added too much humor (like the scene with Harry, Hagrid, and Slughorn).
Overall, the MOVIE ITSELF was well made, but it did not stay true to the book.
^^ Too long to read? Here is the summary:
-No Bill and Fleur -No end battle scene -No greyback -Too much comedy -Too much Ron and Lav -Not enough Malfoy -Not enough talk of Horcruxes -WTF @ BURROW BURNING DOWN -No Dumbledore funeral -Good Acting -Good Special Effects
EDIT: FAVORITE SCENE: Bathroom scene with Malfoy. SOO well done. LOVED LOVED LOVED

So I saw at it at midnight and I must say that it was absolutely amazing, although I was dissapointed at some things just like every one else. Likes- HD ness, the camera stuff looked so amazing
- The Malfoy fight scene
- The wand scene at the end, it was absolutely moving
- CORMAC!!!!! He was just as amazing, annoying, and arrogant as he was in the book.
- Lav-Lav. Jessie Cave did a brillant job. :D
- Snape. The thing is, I almost felt as if the relationship between him and Harry really showed in this movie. I almost felt like it was the next step to the whole thing that happened in the seventh book.
- Quidditch, it was a lot better then the other movies.
- The underlying things with Dean and Ginny. Also, the scenes such as the shoelace scene, they were sweet.
- The younger Tom's were absolutely AMAZING, especially the Teenage Tom. Gosh.
- The goldfish scene, thingy. I'm pretty sure that it wasn't in the book, but I thought it was kind of sad/sweet.
- Slughorn. Jim Broadbent was great!
- Rupert Grint was amazing as awlays. I loved the poison scene, the quidditch scenes, and the Romilda Vane chocolate scene. I also loved all the scenes with him and Hermione.
Dislikes- NO BILL AND FLEUR.
- WTH WAS WITH THE NEW SCENERY. D:
- No funeral? At least they had the wand scene and the scene with Fawkes.
- NO MEROPE? NO MARVOLO? NO MORPHINE? HUH HUH HUH?
- No Hogwarts battle? Just Bellatrix smashing stuff, and lighting fire to Hagrid's hut.
- This is what I probably disliked the most. The other characters seemed like invisible. Neville had like two lines. Seamus had like four. Hagrid only appeared when Aragog died. What about the fact that his favorite students weren't taking his class? Also, Blaise Zabini pretty much didn't talk. He like laughed. That's it. D:
- And where were the other classes? Non verbal spells yo. DADA with SNAPE. SNAPE. AWESOME SNAPE.
- They didn't talk about Greyback. He was in the movie, but he didn't talk and we didn't get to learn anything about him.
- This also really pissed me off. TONKS AND LUPIN. NO "FIGHT" AT THE END. THE SWEETHEART GAVE IT AWAY. THEY WERE ALREADY TOGETHER. NOOOOOOOOOOO. NO. NO. NO.
- There was a lack of Lupin. Just no.
- I hated how Luna found Harry on the train. I loved how Tonks found him, and sent her patronus and how Snape collected him. I loved that one line, "You're new patronus is weak," it really showed a lot of emotion, and when Harry and Snape were walking to the castle. GAH.
- The beginning. Lack of Dursley's and Dumbly coming in.
- The burrow was destroyed.

I adore Bellatrix. Everything about her character is just so fantastic and she does such an amazing job at being a creeper XD She's so dead on with how I see her in the book--twisted, demented, creeper-ish, and just...absolutely insane! I doubt they could have found a better actress to play her. The way she always put her chin on people's shoulders kept making me cringe but I loved it XD
Really, she's my favorite person in the entire movie XD

So my opinions are strangely close to everyone else's in this thread. So to keep everything nifty and short, I'll just reiterate my most detested moment.
The scene that SHOULD have followed Dumbledore's death. I see I'm not the only one that remembers a battle. And I REALLLY loved that moment in the books. To me, it just brought on the feeling of the oncoming war even more. To not have it in the movie was kind of a let-down for me. But the whole death scene was really good. Even though I didn't like Bellatrix running through the Great Hall, I love her character, so it was kinda ok. xD
Overall, this is my favorite movie of the Six. This was, however, also my favorite book. :]

A lot of my opinions are generally the same (plus I'm lazy) so I'll just say things that stuck out to me.
- Neville being a waiter at Slughorn's party made me mad. - The Hermione/Ron was a little too obvious. - The actress playing Lavender was worlds better that I'd thought she'd be. - Harry trying to pass off calling Ginny attractive by saying she has nice skin made me laugh. - LUNA'S LION HAT - I didn't like Ginny tying Harry's shoe. Why would you tie someone's shoe? - I didn't like the Burrow scene. Also, after it burned, why wasn't it ever... mentioned again? - Harry and Ginny's kiss was horrible. - Cormac was great.
And I can't remember anything else.

Likes - DIRECT QUOTES FROM THE NOVEL YES PLEASE - Lavender was great - Cormac was great - lol @ Ron under the influence - More!lol @ Harry under the influence - Dumbledore wasn't all angry in this one, too bad it took so long - Bella was wonderful as always
Main Dislikes: - The Burrow WHY? That was so unnecessary! D: D: D: - No Bill and Fleur? D:D: - No fight scene, I was so look forward to that! With the staircase and everything! - Harry and Ginny. O_O Did they even get together? Wasn't Ginny still with Dean when she kissed Harry? Wasn't Ginny still with Dean after she kissed Harry. I swear when Harry took Felix and went out the portrait hole Ginny and Dean were together. Then at the end Hermione mentioned them being together but they were supposed to break up. Confused, yes. - Where was the Remus and Tonks plot? They're just suddenly together! D: - No Dumbledore @ the Dursley’s including no Harry now owning Kreatcher and no. 12 - Did Hagrid like die… his house was on fire and he was nowhere in sight HUH? - Harry just got away with almost killing Malfoy? No detention, no missing Quidditch no nothing?
P.S Although the lack of Bill and Fluer really annoyed me, apparently they've announced that they're not cutting the wedding in the next film so yay!

Lmfao, I like how there was just blood gushing out of Malfoy, and Snape was looking at Harry, and then he just ran away.

I was very disappointed at the movie. Everybody calls me a downer for it, but I feel like too much was WRONG about it for it to be "a good movie."
Having said that, I feel like the MOVIE was great, but it wasn't at all like the book. It surprised me that Rowling lets some of the stupid changes in it happen that do (ie Tonks not finding Harry, THE BURROW???, the lack of plot explanation (and lack of memories), etc).
I feel like everything's been addressed that I would say, but I really did like Harry under Felix. That was hilarious.

As for Harry/Ginny, YES, that did happen, but not how they showed it. Harry and Ginny kissed after they won Quidditch, before Harry goes off to the cave. I'd consider them together at that point. Ron also consents in that scene, since the kiss is in front of the entire Common Room
As for Remus and Tonks, I was vurrrry disappointed about that. The guy next to me even leaned over and ASKED what happened there. *headdesks*
and sorry about the double post >>

I was too. When Tonks said "Sweetheart," I started spazzing out in my seat. I was with a non-Harry fan, and I remember she was looking at me like I was crazy. xD But Lupin is pretty much my favorite character ever, and of course they decided to take away his plot. And what about him telling Harry about Greyback. THE DUDE DIDN'T EVEN SPEAK. GAH.
