I would have thought they'd have put protective charms ALREADY one the Burrow. I mean, it was SO easy to access and freaking Harry Potter's in there for the holidays. Wouldn't they have thought to do some sort of protection since he's so important to be killed by the Dark Side?
Anyway, I quite enjoyed the movie. It was their best one yet. I thoroughly enjoyed how much time and effort they put into the special effects. The bridge collapsing, the apparating, the Horcrux scene, Bellatrix destroying the Great Hall. It was all quite amazing. I also really enjoyed the humour in the movie. I was laughing the entire time. The romance got pretty awkward though. I didn't like Bonnie Wright though, especially since she's got a very limited facial expression. She's very awkward so I disliked the Ginny/Harry stuff.
I also adored Tom Felton in this movie. Draco's my favourite character so I had high expectations for the way he would be played out in this movie. Needless to say, Tom did such a stunning job, he had me swooning for how broody he was. Oh my god he had grown SOOO much. And he dressed sooo well. *swoons again* Loved the fight in the washroom too.
Does it bug anyone else how SLOW Snape talks? >_< "You... dare... use... MY... own... spells... against... me? Yes... I... am... the... Half... blood... Prince..."
Bellatrix being played by Helena Bonham Carter was the best casting decision ever made. She is amaaaazing and I was squeeing at the end when she was just skipping and kicking the stuff off the tables and laughing... omg she's so perfect.
Bottom line: Halfblood Prince was NOT my favourite book. I thought it was boring and a mere bridge between the fifth and the seventh. But the movie has made it much more entertaining than I remember. And made Dumbledore's death much sadder than in the books. I wanted the funeral though, but if it's going to be in the seventh one, then that's okay with me.
Edit: OH ANOTHER PERSON I LIKED. LUNAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA. SHE IS SO CUUUUUUUUUTE.

Mm... Cormac McLaggen.
This was probably far by the most emotional (is that the right word?) Harry Potter movie yet. Maybe I'm just over-sensitive but I really did shed a few tears at Dumbledore's death. However, I was a little disappointed they didn't have Dumbledore's funeral. The Burrow's burning was also a little achey. :/
It seemed to start off a little slowly, in my opinion, and ended too abruptly. I did like how they carried on from the fifth movie, though, at the office of the Ministry of Magic.
Like many people already said, the Ginny/Harry ship has just... sailed. They're just awkward around each other and it was actually uncomfortable watching them. I feel like it was too sudden, too, because I don't really recall them showing Ginny and Harry's progression in the previous movies, so their sudden closeness could be a little confusion for the non-readers.
I actually didn't feel/see much humor in the movie. The only part where people actually laughed audibly in the audience was when Cormac licked his fingers during Slughorn's party. (It was really just because he's so darn good-looking) It's still my favorite movie from the Harry Potter series, because I know when I read the book, I'll think of the scenes from the movie. When I read the other books, I guess they just don't connect with the their respectful movies that well in my mind.
Draco was amazing. He made me so sad and I'm pretty sure we really could feel his pain. I actually think it's awkward when Hermione cries, or really when any other character cries. When Draco cries, though, it just makes me so. so. sad. I guess it's because we expect him to be cold and emotionless when really... he's just so sad. :(

Does anyone else think Cormac looks like Ryan Phillipe? Except with a British accent, which kinda makes him better.
Oh and I much prefer Lucky!Harry to Moody!Harry.

So I'm a little late, since I saw this I don't know how many weeks ago, but I felt like adding my two cents. ^_^
- I didn't like how they did Hermione/Ron. With every movie except maybe the first two, Hermione's just wrong. She's supposed to be bossy, fussy, and shrill, and the way she's written in the movies makes her seem like she's better for Harry. And she's supposed to have issues admitting her feelings to HERSELF, let alone Harry. Harry/Ginny was pretty weird (the weird music while they leaned in for the kiss, oh god) but I liked them flirting instead of CHEST MONSTER!!1 D:
- I have no idea why Draco needed to fix the vanishing cabinet if three death eaters were just going to skip through the castle and leave everyone alone. At the same time, though, if Harry had told everyone to watch the room of requirement and yadda yadda, it wouldn't have fit since he didn't spend as much time angsting over what Malfoy was doing. And I was glad he didn't, since in the book it got to be annoying at times.
- The Burrow would have been easier to fix with magic, but it's was like, oh no, our house is destroyed, but look, Ron's girlfriend is annoying!
- Speaking of which, I really liked Lavender. She was so giggly and stupid. : D
- I liked the comedy, too. Let's see... the funeral, that would be counter productive!, nice skin, Ron falling off the couch, Cormac trying to get Hermione's attention, Cormac throwing up on Snape, Ron sitting between Harry and Ginny after she was FEEDING HIM, the knitting magazine, and a bunch of others I can't remember. I just hope they didn't cut out some of the more important parts FOR it, like Dumbledore telling Harry what he's supposed to do.
I'm still not sure exactly how I feel about it, but it definitely wasn't bad. I need to rent it and watch it 5 times in one day to make a solid opinion. /rambling, pointless review

Overall, I enjoyed the movie (saw it twice), because it was a Harry Potter movie. I loved the comedy bits, Harry talking about the Acromantula pincers, and Ron on the love potion were two of my favorite scenes.
I was disappointed in the scene in the cave with Dumbles and Harry, because when I read the book that scene was soooo emotional for me, and I don't feel like it was played up enough. But that's probably just me.
I also thought that the DEs "big plan" to have Draco fix the vanishing cabinet ended up looking pretty weak when all they did was prance around the school, with Bella blowing up a few things for fun. I mean really, a YEARS worth of work and planning for that?
I was also pretty pissed at how calm everyone was when Dumbledore was lying there dead. No one was asking what happened to him, rushing to catch/find his killer, sending word to the Order... nothing. They just stood there and cried. The greatest wizard of their time is lying dead on the ground and no one freaked out or questioned it?
Then the scene on the tower with the trio (well, with Hermione and Harry... Ron was pretty much scenery) where they go from talking about what happened to "Oh! Ron thinks it's swell about you and Ginny!" I didn't like that, either.
The big "reveal" on who was the Half Blood Prince (it's only the TITLE of the movie, no big deal...) was even lame. Snape just says "I'm the Half Blood Prince". WHAT? THAT'S IT? Argh.
And how the heck is Harry going to find out about most of the other Horcruxes? I can see Ginny remembering the statue in the RoR instead of Harry, but Dumbles didn't really go over much about the Horcruxes with him before he died, or tell give him a single hint on how to destroy one. That's kind of important, no?
I could have forgiven pretty much everything they left out/changed in the movie up until the final scenes. Pretty much from the DEs entering Hogwarts on was awful.
Okay, done complaining. Looking forward to the next two movies, and I really hope they clear up what they messed up in this one. :D

*points to post above her* That's how I feel.
And setting the Burrow on fire? WHUT? And no Bill and Fleur? What a bunch of idiots. >>
But. I have seen this movie three times and am going to see it three more times in theaters. :3

There's not a lot that hasn't already been said about this.... One of my biggest problems was one of the things Thanatos said, though. The bit about the Halfblood Prince was just sort of tacked on.
That ticked me off. Big time.
See, I was a very big Snape supporter the whole way through the series... never doubted for a second that there wasn't something 'deeper' about his character than just being mean and snarky. Big softie that I am. ANYWAY, so they completely downplayed the whole bit--too much love story and disappointing Harry/Ginny climax to even bother much with the textbook or ANY of the Snape plot.
And at the end, Snape's like "Oh by the way Harry, that was my book."
GAH. :sharpen:
And, yeah.... not enough work put into the cave scene or Dumbledore's funeral. Seems like they got towards the end and were like "Okay guys, only have ten more minutes of movie-time to fill, better wrap it up." *sighs* The last two books needed to be three movies long each to be awesome.

The movie to me felt like it was more about teenage angst than anything else. :/
I'm completely in agreement with the Snape comments. I always knew, just KNEW, there was something more to him if J.K. kept making such a big deal about Dumbledore trusting him. When I read that part on the top of the Tower for the first time, I felt my heart break for him..to have to do something so clearly painful to save someone else. If they relegate Snape's past to a couple small scenes, I'm going to boycott the movie, seriously. He is one of the single most important characters in the entire Harry Potter series and to have been shafted the way he was in HBP irritates me to no end.
I'm relieved the last book is being done in two separate movies. It gives the producers plenty of room to work with in terms of making absolutely sure they get the story right. Things need to fall into place better than they have in previous films (though I'm still an avid fan of POA), though I suspect the majority will come down to Harry's search and the battle at Hogwarts.

i loved the movie! But the only thing a didn't like about the HP movies is that the directors keep forgetting that students under 18 aren't allowed to use magic out of Hogwarts. Harry used magic in the 6th movie and he was with Dumbledore. I didn't remember that scene in the book, and there was this one i can't remember which HP movie but in the opening Harry was using the "lumos" spell while reading his book hiding underneath his sheets.
AND i didn't remember the Weasley's house being burned! So where are they going to live in the 7th movie then huh?!?!?!
but i loved lavender ^_^ ooooh and Malfoy, i loved his acting. What else... *thinks of something to criticize* aha! Harry's haircut, don't like it :P i have to say of all the 6 movies my fav haircut of his is in the 4rth one.
the dude that flirted with Hermione is HAWT. Just sayin' :P

I agree with Sophia! Hermione in the first-bushy hair, bossy, bit overacting but hey, it's her first movie. Second-pretty much the same but bit better acting... Third, fourth, fifth, and sixth-Not how she's written at ALL! ARRRRGGGGGHHHHH! I though nobody else noticed! I also thought they played down the plot. I mean, there's this mysterious book, old Voldy's alive AND it turns out he can stay alive even if you kill him...but who cares, because of all the lovely romance! I do like the film though-I will have to see it a further 700 times to get a better picture. :)
