![]() I BUILT THAT! ![]() Group: Admin Posts: 704 Member No.: 1 Joined: 26-October 06 |
I started building a larger 1 3/4 size tubing, open class version of Kitt for racing with the open sportsman buggies.
It is an improved upon frame of Kitt with sleeker lines and additional strength for the bigger engine and parts it can use. The frame can use any motor. It's motor compartment is large enough to use any thing from a 4 cylinder to a v-8. The car depending on trailing arms, type of motor, tranny etc. is set up to have any wheel base from 110 all the way up to 125 inch wheel base. Rear housing is not installed so you can move and select where you end up mounting it. The cab is 55 inches wide so you have plenty of room for seats and passenger. The over all length from front bumper to back bumper is 14 feet long. This car can also be a great class 12 beam car and by using the 1 3/4 tubing you have great strength. The car was built for racing at MORE, MDR etc. and so was built using Steel tubing to keep cost down but not safety that is why it is built from 1 3/4 tubing. The back bumper is spliced together with .120 wall thick 1 3/4 tubing with another piece of 1 1/2 by .120 wall tubing inside making the back bumper .240 wall thick and extra safe and strong for rear impacts. The frame is tac welded so changes can be made easily. Here are some pics. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Please contact me for more information or questions.
