Have just come back from an Easter Procession in Spain that was taken very seriously, with hoods and torches and robes all donned; was rather impressed with it all.
The whole town turned out, half the town actually in the procession dressed up, the rest having a few beverages and clapping their favourite floats as they went down the hill through the town.

To get going;

I'm toying with the idea of coming up with something similar for the Horde.
Different guilds marching in a long line through friendly lands, mainly just to show faces, dress ornately (or in uniform) and show who's who in our world.

Just a short, but well-planned event that could perhaps be done at an actual event, such as during the Midsummer Fire Festival.

The premise is that every guild taking part in the festival would walk along holding either a Staff of Metanoia (Scholo drop) or a Torch of Retribution (acquired at the end of a Searing Gorge questline).
These two staves/items give the wielder a large two-handed torch that creates light around them - you may have seen me wield one of these with Ram; I use it so that light bounces up to his face, to create a mysterious 'campfire' effect.
Naturally I don't bother doing this when he's wearing a silly purple hat.

If we can get even a few guilds of a handful of people each marching along, it would look good to have all the torches going.
We could start in Silvermoon, go to Tirisfal, then through Durotar, the Barrens, through Mulgore...
Or we could take a longer route if demand is strong.
It's altogether a peaceful event, but the main draw to it would be towns, fiefdoms and bands of men/women carrying the torch and standard for their kin.

The event may only last for under an hour, if that, but would be a good get together and could make for some memorable roleplay opportunities.
We could have roleplay before the event with guild leaders and emissaries discussing who goes where in the procession, which could be entertaining.
If anyone wants to know where the phrases 'sixes and sevens' comes from it's to do with a dispute between two real-life guilds in London; the Skinners and the Tailors, who used to fight each other in a small street battle to decide who went sixth each year. They eventually resolved their differences by one of them going sixth one year and one going sixth the next year; whoever was sixth hosted a banquet in the other guild's honour. Clever, methinks.

If you've any thoughts or comments on the above, let me know.
If I've a few 'sounds good' replies, I'll look at posting this on Argent Archives and asking around on LFRP/forums, etc. when I'm back from Spain.

With regards,
Rammy

Nice initiative. However Ilron will deffinately not like this, nor participate in it. Regardless, he'd allow such a "march", so feel free to continue with the idea. Also, have fun in Spain.

On reflection, I'm not sure tying the event in with Midsummer was a good idea on my part - it's quite a shaman-esque festival, after all, so it doesn't really sit well with the Forsaken.

I could plan the event on a shaman alt (don't have one, though), or adapt it to something more Forsaken-oriented.

Regardless, both options mean... back to the drawing board. :3

Oi, forsaken could celebrate such an event for the heck of it. Fire burns and we like to burn things, right? Somewhat of an excuse. Bring the pyromancers! Just, uh, dont forget to put carnival masks on, so that noone would recognize who exactly runs our...upcoming ,,march'', yeees...

Well... The shamanistic aspect could be covered if Brill were to form an association with Razor Hill as you suggested in your other post.

As to the event itself, it'd be a real fiddle to set up, but then again you know that the majority of people who hear about something sounding so impressive would love to be a part of it. I say, go for it! Shall wave you Brillians from the sidelines *grin*
