The Defense of Hoeth

The premise for this is that the Phoenix King of the High Elves is visiting Hoeth when the Dark Elves launch an attack in the hopes of kidnapping or killing the Phoenix King. Obviously the game would be High Elves vs. Dark Elves according to the idea I just gave but The Dark Elves could be easily traded out for Chaos or Empire. I was thinking of this being 2,000-3,000 pts. The table would have an eye catcher in the Tower of Hoeth as well as other High Elf terrain. Also, with the new army stuff coming out through Nov., it would let us work with some awesome, new models.

The objectives of the mission would the Phoenix King has to survive the battle and victory points, with the survival of the King being Primary.

I was also noticing that it seems that the focus is only on table that are small. I don't have a problem with that but I think that we should have at least one full size battle. Yes a big table is more work but big battles are fun in their own way.

Luke Says:

My concern is getting into the trouble we had with this year's games day with the sides being too large and the game not being over in an hour. We need to accommodate as many people in an hour of gaming as we can. I say leave the big games to GW at Games Day and letís focus on smaller games I say 1000 to 1500 points.

I think Brendan brought up a good point about the High Elves possibly having an easy time shooting at the Dark Elves from inside the city during an attempted seige. Would it make any sense to have a Dark Elf raiding party attack the Phoenix King's entourage before they can get into the city? They would also have to complete the operation before troops within the city had a chance to organize and storm out or begin attacking from the fortifications. You might get to use smaller, more interesting units while keeping the the cool scenery and emphasizing the new, tricked-out High Elves. I'm way out of my league here, but just thought I'd try to contribute something to keep the conversation going.

I think this is one of the tables we will build.
I Like Mike's Ideas on the attack on the party as it arrives outside the gates.
