Title: Highalnder Tournament
Murch - November 23, 2010 11:29 PM (GMT)
Hello All,
On December 11th, 12-5pm UGG will be hosting a 25pt Highlander tournament. This should prove to be a fun one!
This will most likely be a 4 round, timed tournament.
Your army list will need to include:
1 Warlock/Caster
1 Solo
1 Unit (attachments are allowed)
and as many jacks or beasts as you can fit.
First, second and third place awards. We'll also have a paint contest and prize for anyone with a complete, painted army, so make um purdy!
FYI, you don't have to have your models painted to play in the tournament.
The Mangled Metal/ Tooth and Claw was a success, this one should also be a blast (if not more).
UGG will also post the Tournament info, with a running total of those who have signed up.
Hope to see you there,
Dale

Hey Mike,
I'm always up for a practice game, though I probably need more practice then most
I can probably meet you next week, perhaps during the day. I'll let you know when I can, if you're up for it.

Would anyone be up for a game this Tuesday or Wednesday evening?
ArtificialDecaySynthesis - December 6, 2010 10:29 PM (GMT)
Tuesday is good for me because i may be in the store earlier that day to play firestorm depending on whats going on. i usually go in there for 40k but i'm willing to pass on 40k to do warmachine anytime.
I'm also free on Wednesday evening if you want to get a game then too.
Oden - December 7, 2010 02:01 PM (GMT)
What time will you be there Tuesday? I can probibly get there around 5pm, so anytime after that is good with me.

Hey Everybody,
The Higlander Tournament was a hit! During the holidays it's hard to schedule a time where everyone can particpate, but we had a good turn out at any rate. A few people cancelled, hopefully they'll make it next time around.
I was glad to see a variety of factions and a representation of the all new Minion "faction" (here we go again- are they a real faction? :D ). A classic battle of Lord Carver against Bloody Barnabas (sorry pig lovers the gators prevailed).
Thanks to Ken and Kathleen for enabling this to happen and for the generous donation for the painted army raffle :ok:
An on line voting for the armies/factions, that were painted should be posted Monday and run for a week. At this site, under the painted models section, we'll have pictures of the painted armies. Anyone is welcome to vote for their favorite painted faction. At the end of the week (Sunday midnight) it will end and be tallied up. May the best faction win !
Congratulations to the winners of the Highlander.
...and the winners are.....
1st place: Mike Maneeniyom representing Khador with the very feared Kommander Strakhov
2nd place: Mike Malake playing a brutal Bloody Barnabas in a Blindwater Congregation
3rd place: Brandon Murchison throwing down with Borka Kegslayer and the more then tough Trollbloods.
Towards the end of January we're going to be having a really cool tournament. It will be a 15-25-35 escalation type list. More on this later.
Thanks to all,
Dale

Hey Cal,
Hope everything is well.
Actually Mike Maneeniyom was playing Khador this time, so score one for W.M.
We're going to have another one sometime in the middle to end of January, that would be awesome if you could make it.
BTW, Venetrhax isn't welcome around these parts  -just kidding, bring on the arm 720, p+s 72!
M.J and Oden, it was our pleasure (hope it's ok to speak for you Kyle), we also enjoyed it.

I honestly feel as like i lucked out hugely in this one. the first was the Drahkun saving a really botched turn 2 against ken. Wasn't sure if it would work but it did. Drahkun is just to damn hard to kill at times.
Then i lucked out again when Mike rolled double ones 3 times in a row against brandons knocked down troll heavy. i knew nothing of Gators, and generally i feel that no matchup experience = you lose.
Then I got some luck shifted away from me where brandon's pyre troll with 2 fury on him killed 3 iron fangs. I pretty sure i shouldnt have rain of death when i did because i dont think he could have handled 2 jacks sitting at arm 21+. So attrition kicked in and was starting to look bad. Lucked out when the Drahkun road out of melee with the long rider and avoided damage from a freestrike. then the luck really kicked in when i rolled an 18 on 4 dice to damage and kill Borka.
Stay stylin' Drahkun and Good Games to the people I played at the tournament and the people that i played in practice games with, they helped me alot.
big bad games to the wall that my case smacked into on the ride home for spraining my wrist.

Wow Mike, I'm starting to realize that you've some how managed to to use up all your luck credits and borrow some from fate for play, but pay later with your commute to and /or from the LGS.
Nice quick battle report. I for one wouldn't mind seeing battle reports from future tournaments. It informs the people that were unable to make it of (some) the experience.
Good idea. Maybe we could implement this in the future.
