My wireless has worked pretty well for the past few days, but starting last night it just won't cooperate! It will show that it is connected at full strength, and then as soon as I get online, it says my network doesn't meet the standards (or something like that!)!!!

There is nothing running to interfere with the signal.

I am getting really frustrated!

Any ideas?

Stick a wire in.

Wireless is dodgy at the best of times. I prefer a wired connection by far, if possible.

Have you tried turning it on and off again? Used to work for me.

Turning the router off, or the computer? I have not turned anything off yet!

The router. Also, have you tried re-entering the passwords?

No, it doesn't ask for a password.

Sometimes my router will lose it's mind and unplugging the cable modem and router, then plugging the cable modem back in, waiting 30 seconds for it to initialize then plugging the router in, waiting 30 seconds for it to initialize then try to connect again.

I have to do that about every other week.

I've also had the modem go wonky where it would no longer register new devices, and I've had to replace a router for similar issues, and I've even had to have the cables in my house rewired because the signal had degraded enough. But I've had a wireless setup for a few years, so those problems are not frequent.

No, it doesn't ask for a password.

It should!

Otherwise Kyo could sit outside your house downloading furry porn and your ISP would trace it to your connection. It probably does, just your computer logs in automatically (but now it doesn't).

I've had to re-enter my security passwords before.

I have too. You might try going into the properties of the connection and typing in the hex key again and password again (usually it's the hex key that's lost and not the password).

If it works in parts of the house but not others then it sounds like either the transmitter in the router or the receiver in the laptop isn't working properly.

If it still aint working, here's a few ideas.

Make sure you're computer is up to date with the most current version of the operating system you use. Not sure for macs, but when referring to windows, Make sure you have at least SP2, you have updates installed and stuff like that. I had this same problem at college where I had full strength yet nothing happened, and eventually I got it fixed by simply updating my laptop.

If that doesn't work, you might check your wireless card and or wireless plug in, see if it has any gunk in the area, and if it does, a small pin and circular rotation should take care of that with relative ease.

Other than that, not sure.
