It looks pretty cool, but if I so much as placed the box near my computer, let alone inserted the DVD, my computer would start weeping in shame at those system reqs. faint.gif

Yes, I'm currently playing it, though I put it on hold because of other games like Half Life 2: Orange Box. winking0072.gif But to be honest, the Witcher is still rough and you really do need 2GB of RAM if you want to play it smoothly. At 1GB, you'll encounter stuttering in much larger areas. sad.gif

I notice some slowdown on occasion myself, it seem ridiculous that it's based on the five year old Aurora engine and has such reqs... Does look pretty good though, I hope you guys get to play it before too long. sad.gif

Aurora is the NWN toolset, right? NWN slows down on my computer sometimes, so, I think that's because it is really too heavy, or too badly coded. In other words, its normal tongue.gif

That's because it isn't. They switched to Electron (the NWN2 engine) once NWN2 was released. Anyway, I've been running it with 1.5GB RAM windowed with no problems (minimum graphics settings while windowed 1024x768 res, 1440x990 res, max graphics settings fullscreen).

I'm in Chapter 4 at the moment, probably near the end of it. winking0072.gif

Well, if it isn't Aurora, how come it still says 'Powered by Bioware's Aurora Engine' (Unless if NwN2's Electron engine is a heavy modification of the Aurora engine)? confused0007.gif

It says Aurora v2, if I remember correctly...that probably means Electron, I do remember reading something on the main website around the time NWN2 was released that they'd be converting it all to that engine from Aurora...other mod developers from NWN have done the same, the two are fairly similar, though the toolset GUI has changed among other things.

The game slows down at times because it only uses one processor core.
The first time I played I made choices I liked the best and at the end the king of the hunt told me that all my choices led to the greater evil....

So the game keeps all saved games made, one save is about 20 megabytes, by the end of the game I had made over 1000 saves, so that's around 20 gb of saves.
Also it starts to take a really long time to bring up the saved games list in the game at 300 or so, so I deleted most of the contents of that folder.

The Expanded edition patch is out today, it's 910MB so it's a hefty download for me, but it looks good. I'll probably try playing through the game again once it's all done. happy.gif

Four Steps for installing the Enhanced Edition.

Had to warn you that traffic is pretty high there, so it might be a little difficult to download at the moment.

They released it today, so that was fairly obvious.

Please tell us if the EE is worth getting, as one who never played it before

Once my laptop is in a fit state to download the patch files without cutting out halfway through a download forcing me to start it again from the beginning, I'll let you know.

I'd say the game is worth getting even without whatever enhancements the EE version adds, though. Considering the load times are cringe-worthy in the original, the EE version is supposed to improve that significantly, amongst other things.

I see that the EE version is retailing at double the price of what the original is selling for at the moment....assuming you can still register CD keys from the original, it'd be worth getting the original and taking the free download option to upgrade the game. I don't know how much longer the original will be available, though...especially if it costs retailers free money.
