I played GRID's demo quite recently and I'm pretty impressed by it overall. Challenging AI, realistic damage and crash physics, visuals much better and more optimised than NFS: Pro Street and some diverse race modes like racing and drifting (though I admit that I suck in this department).

I'm considering getting it, does that count?

It does.  But I had to warn you that it can be punishing at times. One small dent is enough to make your car behave funny. If you're lucky to avoid any crashes, then hooray for you.
