| QUOTE (Masa @ Feb 21 2007, 07:57 AM) | What bugs me about gay people is that they always have to be so extravagant about it then at the same time they demand to be treated the same way as the majority of people. Why can't they just behave like "normal" people. Always praising about their gayness and that is what annoys people not the gayness itself. But of course this is just my opinion.
The thread was like giving a matchbox to an arsenist. |
Mardi Gras and Gay Pride parades are not the standards I'd judge all homosexuals by. |

Slade,
I wasn't criticizing you for changing the thread title, that was more related to Tsu finding the title in and of itself offensive. I agree that when taken in context it is offensive. But the words "Not gay" all by themself are no more offensive than the word "gay".
And you're right, people will be offended by just about anything. |

| QUOTE (Darzog @ Feb 21 2007, 07:54 AM) | Sorry, it's not you. But I find it hypocritical to approve of isolating minorities for discussion / praise but the opposite being "bad". If you want an all-women's gym then don't bitch about an all-men's gym. If you have the Society for Women Engineers, then don't chafe at an all-male version.
If you want a gay pride parade then don't get all huffy if there is a heterosexual pride parade.

If your referring to me having the title changed. My reason for them are simple,if your refering to the people who posted on Hessians thread complaining, than these people are just going to have to realise that other people have different opinions.my reason for chaning them is that, I have read most of his posts and most of his posts are gay bashings. If not hes calling you a homo. Im not going to have that here. If he wants a book topic that is only discussing books that dont include homosexual themes than thats fine. However if your not going to present it well, than it is going to come off as a flame to others, and therefore you either change it or I delete it. The title now is fine, if he wants to edit his first post to include what he wants thats fine, if he can word it right and not come off as a flame to anyone. Hessians straight books would of been fine, but his reputation here ,with that, made that a bad idea, people would send PMs saying that hes trying to flame people( which is what the other title before did). And I didnt want that. I honestly dont have a problem with people trying to express themselves or dislike something as long as they can word it in a manner that doesnt offend people. Apparantly though it appears that people get offended either way...................

I agree with the thread deletions... and it was announced publically, what is really ethical, or at least, you dont surprise people by "boo, your thread was deleted, dont ask any questions or you'll be temporarily banned. Two questions perma" |

You're right, if those words are used in a sentence like "I am not gay"... Clearly this is not the case, however. When used as Hessian did, in order to preclude discussion about material related to a particular lifestyle, they may clearly be offensive to some people. And clearly there's nothing offensive about being straight, excellent point. |
