Networks,

From time to time feature movies will be put up for auction in this section. This will give your Network the possibility to buy the rights to these movies and put them in your schedule (this means airing those movies).

The process is very simple; it’s going to be done in a bidding format: 5 movies will be put up for auction each time. Each movie will have an initial price. The Networks interested in buying the rights to those movies have to reply to the post offering a price (equal or higher than the initial price). When the bidding finishes, the Network that offered the highest price, wins the rights for the movies.

Only Networks are allowed to bid for feature movies.

As usual, if you have any questions please post a reply and I’ll try to answer as soon as possible.

Regards and let the bidding start!

Pablo

I have two suggestions for movies/adaptations/etc...

1) Movie lengths

Movies are usually adapted to TV format, scenes are often cut, so that it can easily fit into a 90-120-150 minutes format. The movies now on the list below is the real length of the movie (122 minutes, 87 minutes, etc...).

I think the length of the movie should be like:

- Ernest goes to Jail (2 hours)
- Ernest goes to School (90 minutes)
- Ernest goes to... (2 hours).

In that 2 hours, there is the usual 16 publicity slots/30 minutes.

Right now, I can bid on a 122-minute movie, so I have 28 minutes of publicity, so 56 X 30 seconds of publicity = A lot of money! And I don't think that it is really fair for everybody.

2) Bidding process

I'm not comfortable with the bidding process. That means that I can enter the bidding process 2 minutes before the end and easily win without really participating. I may have a suggestion:

- Before the deadline, this is still a bidding process.

Let's say, for Ernest goes to Hell:

- 27th Avenue bids for 2 millions
- Dreamscape bids for 2,1 millions
- 27th Avenue bids again for 2,4 M$
- And just at the end of the deadline, Future bids for 2,6 M$.

- After, the networks who participated must send their final bid to Pablo

Right now, 27th Avenue, Dreamscape and Future are the networks up for the race. So they have 24 hours to send their email to Pablo.

- 27th Avenue bids for 3M$
- Dreamscape for 4M$
- Future for 3,5M$

Dreamscape wins.

Like that, I believe that it's most fair for everybody. We have participants from around the globe. I believe that Tal is from Israel, I'm from Canada, Pablo is from South America, some might be from the States. If the deadline is at 7 PM for Pablo, it may be 3 AM for Tal, for example. Some players have a decisive advantage. I also believe that it is more interesting that way.

Great Idea!!! I really am from Israel, and you are right about that some of us would probably sleep while the bidding is over... so if i understand it correctly, let's say that 4 networks are bidding for a movie, so they are also the finalist that after the bidding ends, they submit to Pablo an e-mail with their final offer. am i right?

That's exactly it!

We could say that if it's equal for the final bid, the one who placed the highest bid before the deadline win. What do you think?

You mean that if the bids sent to Pablo are equal, the highest bid by the time the original bid ended, in your example, Dreamscape, wins the bid?
If it is like that, then i'm for it.

Oops, I don't think I made myself clear on that one. Sorry, I'm in the middle of something at work and this might not have been too easy to follow.

If we use the same example:

- 27th Avenue bids for 2 millions
- Dreamscape bids for 2,1 millions
- 27th Avenue bids again for 2,4 M$
- And just at the end of the deadline, Future bids for 2,6 M$.

1- For the final bid, let say that Dreamscape and Future bids for 3 M$ and 27th Avenue bids for 3,3 M$: 27th Avenue wins the bid.

2- If Dreamscape and Future bids for 3,5 M$ and 27th Avenue for 3,3 M$. It's between Dreamscape and Furture. Before the deadline, Future was for 2,6M$ and Dreamscape for 2,1M$. So Future won.

This way, we encourage to bid in the forum. We could also say that we can't bid for 2 199 999 $. Always something like 2,1M$, 2,2M$, 2,3M$, etc...

Ok, i got it now.... the network that "won" at the deadline, wins in the case of a tie.... good idea Marc.
Now all is left to get Pablo's approval of this concept before the end of the current bidding. Pablo, if you see this, please reply with an answer.

Great idea guys!

Marc, thank you very much for this suggestion. And also thanks to Tal for helping in some way... tongue.gif

This is going to be the Official Process then, after the deadline Networks who participated must send their final bid to me.

Important: Networks will have exactly 24 hours to send their final bid.

Regards,

Pablo

Maybe we should give that responsibility to a production studio instead, since VDN is implicated in the race. What do you think?
