General Information
    Name: Dawson Lentarius

    Title: Advocacy Journalist

    Gender: Male

Side: Dawson doesn’t really care for sides; he sees the world as an assortment of stories for an opportunistic journalist such as himself. Bias towards Red means the front page story he constantly craves (as well as a tomorrow to look forward to). If the Resistance, however were to overthrow Red, he’d report them. He’s just after the story and a successful career.

    Nationality: Caucasian
Physical Characteristics
    Height: 6’2’’

Eyes: Deep chocolate brown. They can appear almost black in certain lighting.

Hair: A darker blonde based brown. Towards the tips, it falls under the lighter end of the brown spectrum. He styles his short hair so that the front is slightly spiked up and out to the sides, while the rest is left untouched.

    Age: 28

Build: Tall and average in build. His career isn’t very physically demanding, so while he is fit, he has no defined musculature.

Unique Physical Traits: Dimple in his left cheek and a smile that never seems to waver…it is the best way to follow law and keep people guessing.

Other: Dawson tends to play up and exaggerate his personality on occasion while working; he likes to fit under the stereotypical view of ‘annoying journalists’ and watch the various reactions of his unsuspecting victims.

Family: Dawson was an only child. His parents appeared to be very loving towards each other, agreeing on everything except one point: himself. His mother, Priscilla passed away during the first regime, while his father, Richard is currently alive, but due to a disagreement, Dawson has no clue where he is, nor does he care. With the demands of his career, he doesn’t see much of his extended family, except for a cousin and his young family on the ‘appropriate’ occasions.

Best Friend(s): None really. He has colleagues, but no one he would call a friend, mainly due to his fixation with his career and trust issues.

Relationship(s): Dawson doesn’t have time for relationships as he sees it: his career is his top priority; his family, his friend and his lover. However, he knows that his obsession to immerse himself in his work comes from a thirst to prove himself to his father, as well as his ever present issues with trust. Deep down, one day, he has a very, very miniscule hope that something or someone better will come along.

Personality: Dawson’s adult life has centered on his desire to prove himself to his father, which has led him to become rather competitive, determined and opportunistic. He strives for the ultimate symbol of success and attention, the one thing that will mark a win over his father that being a front page story. While these few characteristics are an important part of who he is, Dawson tends to demonstrate them more when he is working on an article. Sometimes it is intentional. Other times, not so much.

It is also his career which has given him a slight arrogance he perhaps might not have had if he had gone down a different path. This conceit tends to stem from his overconfidence in his ability as a journalist and the many marks of success he has achieved.

Being an only child, and then in later life only ever having himself to depend on has made Dawson rather selfish. For the majority of his life he hasn’t really had anyone else he’s needed to take into consideration when making decisions and the like.

Coming with the success of his career has been a good amount of money, and Dawson has no qualms using it as he sees fit. While he has spent a good deal on an apartment and car, he tends to enjoy buying classic literature and eating at various restaurants more; after his career they are the two other things he enjoys most.

Dawson also enjoys frustrating and annoying people while in ‘reporting mode’, exaggerating his personality quite a bit in the process. He plays up his sarcastic, trouble making nature, throws in a smile that never changes, nor wavers and a few choice remarks which leaves his companion (most of the time) completely confused and at a loss for words. This side of Dawson also comes into play when he’s talking to his assistant who is all too easy to tease.

Dawson also has the ability to hold grudges, the major one being against his father. It was this betrayal which caused Dawson’s complete disregard for the majority of his family, his general distrust of people and his fear of having to rely on others, even if he outwardly doesn’t show any reservations. These issues with trust have only been reinforced with the nature of Dawson’s job. He sees a lot of the world, the majority of it not pretty and writes/deals with many people whom one should never trust. It would take a lot for someone to gain his trust if they ever thought he was worth the effort. Someone who could throw him off balance and find a way in under the radar would probably have the best chance.

History: Dawson quite possibly had one of the most politically intoned childhoods ever encountered. As soon as he could read his father had placed a newspaper under his nose and instructed him to read, and that’s exactly what he did. Priscilla had naturally disagreed, voicing her opinion on the matter many times to her husband, but he continued to sneak the papers to the young Dawson.

When he wasn’t reading, Priscilla often took Dawson aside and together they would cook and bake all kinds of things. Richard often spotted them in the kitchen and knew Priscilla had Dawson cook with her because she couldn’t win the argument concerning Dawson’s regular reading material.

By the time Dawson was seven he had a clear understanding of the political system, the theory behind corruption and everything else that a young child should not know. He admired his father to the point where he idolized him and had decided that when he grew up he would be a journalist, just like his father.

The rest of Dawson’s school life went by much the same way most kid's do. He discovered he had a love for literature (not all that surprising when he had spent most of his early childhood reading) and enjoyed cooking, even though he burnt things most of the time and had once set something on fire. He worked hard and joined the school paper writing articles on school politics and the like.

At the end of high school, Dawson’s resolve to become a journalist was only strengthened when his father promised to get him a position at the newspaper he worked at after he completed university.

Almost as soon as Dawson had graduated with a bachelor degree in journalism and political science, he had gotten his promised position at the newspaper, becoming the envy of his classmates. He worked hard as an assistant and then on articles he knew were way beneath his ability for a year before he began to rise in the journalism hierarchy.

Dawson wasn’t an idiot. He often wondered how he had gotten where he was so quickly and had almost passed it off as recognition of his ability until he had inadvertently overheard a conversation with his father and the owner of the newspaper discussing when he should rise in the ranks again. At first the conversation seemed innocent until sums of money were mentioned.

Distraught and completely shattered; his whole career had been a complete lie, Dawson confronted his father. They argued for some time, Dawson stressing the betrayal he felt, but his father insisted he did it because he wanted him to be happy. Soon after, Dawson stormed out of his father’s office and out of his life, quitting his job and applying for a rival paper. He would prove his ability to his father no matter what it took.

A few months later the first regime came into being and Dawson was a part of the reporting frenzy under all kinds of restrictions. It wasn’t long before he landed himself his first front page article, but the glory of success was short lived. Priscilla had soon become terribly ill. Upon examination it was discovered she had bowel cancer that had gotten into the rest of her body. She was given six weeks to live, and had passed away shortly after. While Dawson was saddened to see his mother go, he was glad that she didn’t die by the hands of the regime.

Now with all links with his father severed, Dawson continued with his life as a journalist. He immersed himself in his work and started to be noticed nationally.

Eventually he got wind of a Resistance with a woman by the name of Red at the helm. Dawson began to investigate, compiling information from terrified citizens and any other source he could get his hands on. When all out public opposition became known with violence and riots he had been one of the first journalists on the scene to report, landing his best and most acclaimed article when the dictatorship was overthrown by Red and her followers.

These days, Dawson continues to write articles in Red’s favour, becoming one of the most successful journalists around, even if he doesn’t agree with her new regime. He does however wish that the new Resistance he’s been hearing about (and covertly gathering information on) would hurry up and expel Red; stories have become rather repetitive of late, and he feels his reporting skills are going to waste.

    Example Roleplay Post:
The long black limo pulled up at the curb, humming slightly as the engine continued to run. “Come at the usual time.” Kyouya told the driver, taking a hold of his laptop and pushing the door open with his other hand. He stepped out of the car slowly, taking his time before his feet hit the cool concrete beneath. He shut the door with a slight slam, watching as the car took off again down the street and waving somewhat to the driver, before turning on his heel. With a semi-quick gait, he walked into the grounds of Ouran, sighing deeply to himself, a recognisable scowl on his face. He had spent the majority of last night pulling some strings and making a few deals, thus getting the Club out of their previous money issues of the last few weeks, but as a result hadn’t really gotten himself off to bed until some obscene hour of the morning. He was currently running on about, maybe four, five hours sleep, and he did not thrive well with hardly any sleep, let alone early mornings. Tamaki, as well as the rest of the Host Club could vouch for that. He had made his way into one of the courtyards, silently cursing the glare that kept itself firmly situated on his glasses, when he spotted Helena, and two other girls he had never seen before seated by the fountain. Glancing their way for only the briefest of seconds, he continued his quest to some coffee and a quiet place of the music room.
