..::Other Things::..

Description: Matthias Faust is not a man who can be easily picked out from a crowd. While his shaved head, a habit picked up from the military and prison, is not the most common style, it’s far from uncommon. He doesn’t have an actual beard, however, he dose forget to shave every now and then, and quite often his face is covered in stubble. His facial expression is usually one of boredom and impatient. He has few distinguishing marks, save for a scar from an old shrapnel wound on his left shoulder. His clothing is nondescript and casual, usually consisting of blue jeans and a grey shirt.
..::Ins and Outs:..
General Personality: Faust has a gruff, no-nonsense manner at work, which is offset by a cynical, jaded, sarcastic, and sometimes disturbing sense of humor. He can be quite ruthless to those he considers enemies, however, he takes no joy in killing. It’s just the nature of the job. Because of his constant sarcasm towards the value of human life, someone would say that he is either a sadist or a nihilist, however, this is not entirely true. His dark sense of humor is just his way of coping with the stress of his job. He knows from personal experience the kind of horrors a man can commit when that stress reaches a breaking point.
To other people, he seems withdrawn and unapproachable, and is convinced that he dose not need, or want, friends. He’s not a conversationalist, and usually holds his tongue, occasionally dropping a smart-ass or cynical remark. When he dose speak, he gets straight to the point, as he is loath to people beating around the bush. He dose not sugar coat his thoughts, no matter who gets offended by them, and is notorious for letting people know when he has no interest in their point of view. He dose enjoy drinking, though, perhaps too much, and is prone to get into trouble when he’s had too much.

Family: Redmond and Julia Faust, Parents, Disowned
History: Matthias Faust was born in Buffalo NY. He grew up as the only child, and as a child was always withdrawn, and not a social person. His one and only dream was to pilot a battle suit, and became a ‘military fan boy’, as his peers called him. He had few friends growing up, and became fiercely independent, and began to disregard authority. At age 17, he dropped out of school and joined the Terran Armed Forces, a decision his anti-military parents resented him for. However, due to his status as a drop out, he was barred from becoming an officer and a pilot, and was instead sent to the infantry.
Matthias found out quite early that the military wasn‘t what he thought it was. His independence and resentment of authority was out of place in the military, the pay was piss poor, and he spent the majority of his time doing some redundant and pointless task. Matthias made a good rifleman, but a poor soldier. His peers were surpassing him in rank, becoming NCOs, while Matthias only able to achieve the rank of Private First Class, only to lose it a few months later. Matthias was becoming fed up with the Armed Forces as he toiled away for a few years, going absolutely nowhere.
Matthias and his unit eventually deployed to fight rebels in S. America after his third year in the military. It was a hellish existence, wading through thick jungles, with an ambush at every corner. There were no front lines, and no where was safe. Attacks came on a daily basis. Nowhere was safe. Matthias became more and more disillusioned as the war dragged on. Finally, he, as well as many others, had hit their breaking points. A mission came down to clear a small village of rebels. It was supposed to be a quick, simple, and hopefully, bloodless mission. However, something went horribly wrong. The village was cordoned off as planned, then Matthias’s platoon entered… and started firing. The day was a black mark on the Terran military. Over three hundred people were massacred, men women and children. Matthias just watch the seen unfold as he fired, at that point, he just didn’t care any more. However, while he didn’t seem to care at the time, the event haunted later, and still dose to this day.
Shortly afterwards, Matthias court marshaled and sentenced to death for war crimes. His parents had disowned him when they learned the truth of what had happened, and he no longer had anything to lose. However, while he was in prison waiting for his death, he met a man who would change his fate. That man, a mercenary captured while working of the Mars Allied Forces, had an escape plan, and Matthias, already condemned to death, was more than eager to listen. The security at the prison had become dangerously lax, and several prisoners were able to get a hold of weapons. Matthias and the merc managed to get out of their cells, and then took over the security station, then opened every cell, causing a mass riot. Then, in the chaos, they escaped to the roof, hijacking a news helicopter.
Since Matthias was instrumental in the escape plan and had nowhere to go, the mercenary offered him what he had always dreamed of: the chance to pilot a battle suit. Matthias agreed without hesitation, and was given Vulcan. For the next few years, he and the mercenary group did dangerous operations for the MAF. His team was wittled down slowly until the ceasefire was called, and the group disbanded due to the lack of members. For the survivors, there were no metals, no heros welcome, not even a thank you note. But such is the life of a 'death merchant'. Matthias is currently on a ‘standby contract’ with the MAF currently, which gives him access to military facilities, as well as a salary (albeit a piss poor one), and in the event that he is needed, he can be quickly called back into action. For the time being, though, he bides his time while he accepts small jobs from corporations, security contractors, law enforcement agencies, and on occasion, a few less-than-reputable citizens.

..::Battlesuit Specs::..
Name: Vulcan
Model: GTM/X-009 MK4
Suit Basis: Ground Assault, Mid to Close Range Combat
Weaponry List: Duel Missile Launchers (10 tubes each), 40mm Linear Gun, Melee
Laser, Electronic Warfare Array
Description 18ft from ground to head, weighing 15.3 tons, Vulcan is small compared to other battle suits. It makes up for it’s size with devastating fire power and high speed, reaching a top run speed of 160 mph (max stats). To add to its’ speed are several Jump Jets, which allow it to both go hover for short periods, or triple its’ run speed. While it lacks the tonnage to go head to head with heavier battle suits, it has enough speed and maneuverability to out flank larger models. Also, its’ electronic warfare suit makes it invisible to radar, and tracking systems, forcing opponents to target the high speed suit manually, thus compensating for the lack of armor. In an age where most targeting is handled automatically by the AI, this proves to be quite deadly, as most pilots are unfamiliar with manual, visual only targeting. Vulcan’s AI itself lacks a personality, giving no illusions that Vulcan is anything other than a machine. Many of the systems are handled manually, though the AI dose assist many operations. Vulcan’s cockpit is small and cramped, with only the pilot seat and controls inside. The color scheme is mostly grey and silver, with a slight reddish hue.
((OOC note: Vulcan is named after the Roman god of fire, not Mr. Spock’s race.)
Top Stats: 160 mph Run Speed, x4 run speed with jets, ability to hover with jets. Linear Gun Muzzle velocity 6 kps, firing 120 rounds per minute
Average Stats: 95 mph Run Speed, x2.5 with jets, short jump with jets (150 feet off ground). Linear Gun muzzle velocity 2.5 kps, firing 30 RPM.

Sample Roleplay:[quote]With a shotgun blast and a ferocious kick, the door gave way, and Kage, the pointman, swiftly entered the room. Raising his carbine, he quickly checked in front him, then turned to the left, clearing that corner, the turned back to the right as he made his to the left corner of the room. Seeing to targets, he quickly scanned the rest of the room. It was empty save for himself and the three other members of his team. The team leader gave the signal to stack up on the next door, and the team prepared for another breach and entry. Kage could never understand why they were going to
