This is just out of curiosity really. I got a GAME gift card for my birthday and I was just looking throug the Special Editions and GAME Exclusive Editions that they have, just because I've never really bought one before and was wondering if the extras you get with them would be worth it. Personally, I do love Making Of videos that you get in DVDs, and I have the Making Of DVDs for Gears of War, Final Fantasy X and Metal Gear Solid 2. Likewise, I love the developers commentaries that are included with new Valve games.

So here's basically what I'm wondering:
Do you have any special edition games?
Do you have any game box sets/complete series collections?
Do you get annoyed when you buy a multipack of games (whether it's all one series or just a selection of games like the Medal of Honour War Chest) and the case doesn't fit in your DVD towers because it's too thick?
Do you have any gaming memorabilia? (clothes, figurines, soundtrack CDs, collectibles, etc.)
Do you think the boxsets are worth it?
Do you think the special editions are worth it?
What's the best thing you've ever had bundled in a special edition pack which wasn't the game itself?
What's the worst?
Would you recommend any SE games over their "standard" counterparts?

Actually can't think of any Special Edition games on a Nintendo platform... Closest thing I have to it is a special red cardboard sleeve for Resi 4 on the GC which I've never seen anyone else own. I've got a YuGiOh game that would have come with some free cards if it wasn't Japanese.

I would have preordered the DS Castlevania titles if I was a yank to get their bonus soundtracks and booklets. I'd also have bought that special edition Mario Galaxy soundtrack off NoE back when it was in stock if I'd had the stars.

I have a lot of compilation sets. Like the Orange Box, Metroid Prime Trilogy, Zelda collectors edition etc.

Plus I've had a fair few decent special editions. Windwaker had OOT and OOT master quest. Prime Trilogy has a sleeve and an awesome art booklet.
Then you get the not so great ones, like Brawl and its sleeve tongue.gif

I also hate tins, I refuse to get the mario special edition as all it is is a tin ouch.gif
I hate how you have to pay more for them now, I am still tempted to get the spirit tracks with little link figure, he can go next to my Chun Li tongue.gif

I REALLY wanted the batman arkham asylum special edition, batarang? yes please biggrin.gif

As for Memorabilia, I have a fair bit. My room is so geeky tongue.gif
I have mini yoshi plushie from game, big yoshi from chessington (won it yesterday, cost me 8 pounds and a hell of a lot of time tongue.gif) a plastic yoshi jut bigger than the wii which my dad bought back from thailand and a mini mario kart yoshi which only turns left sweat.gif
Then I have a big toad, bulbasaur, giant meowth and pikachu. Mini Pikachu, meowth and my little chun li figurine.

I don't care for Special Editions really. It's the game itself which matters, not the art booklet and music CD...

I've bought a couple of special eds before, mainly because I could get discount in my last job :c) I usually only go for the ones with the special figures, like the Bioshock and Assassins Creed special eds. I really want to get the Assassins Creed 2 special ed, just because I love the figure :c)

Erm...what? It doesn't matter to ME, that's the point of my post blink.gif. That's why I wouldn't buy it, others are of no concern here...

Many years ago on the NES, there was a special edition Zelda II where the cartridge was painted gold. I used to have that, but my mate who I bought my NES from has now bought it back.

Also, there was a yellow Donkey Kong 64 cartridge. Can't remember if there was a game with a gold cartridge on the N64 though. Turok 2 had a black cartridge, but I think that was just standard.

Never heard of the yellow DK64 cartridge! Perhaps a running theme with DK games as DK Country 2 on the GB had a yellow cart too. The Majora's Mask cart is gold, and Pokemon Stadium 2 might have been as well. MM had two different pictures on the carts, one more common than the other I think:

The things i can think of off the top of my head are:

Arkanoid with Nintendo DS Paddle Controller

The Final Fantasy IV Gameboy Micro

The Mother 3 Gameboy Micro

Mag Kid with Nintendo DS Slide Controller

If this were about CDs, I'd have a massive list biggrin.gif

I saw them being sold in Woolworths for £12 ages ago. Maybe I should have made an investment then. tongue.gif Much too late now!
