The pokemon games have reached their pinnacle, the game itself (bar maybe the changes in the metagame) are at the best they have been, and possibly will ever get.
For long term pokemon fans to have a pokemon game with everything crammed in, 2 regions that are arguably the best the series has produced, a multitude of legendary pokemon, events, the return of the pokewalker all wrapped up in a nostalgia filled bubble tongue.gif
If you thought DPP were good (and I really enjoyed them) than this will be possibly the best game of 2010. It'll probably be the best that pokemon will ever get and I for one am greatly anticipating not only the return to Johto and Kanto but that epic battle on Mt Silver and the best games of the series with all the later gen additions ^^

If they went 3D they could potentially top this though tongue.gif . One could say they reached the previous pinnacle with Generation 2, and this is why they're going back to it...

3D is the only way long term fans are staying. On another note, slightly off-topic, Pokemon is staying for years to come, a large percentage of sales come from little children right?I'm guessing millions(Err...100s of thousands) of people who bought DPPt had never played pokemon before. When you aim something at little kids, and that generation gets bored of it, there is always gonna be another generation waiting.

I think Pokemon games would look horrible in 3D, judging from the console games so far.

It could work, but since pokemon is full of tiny cities, I think they would have to make the game pretty massive to be decent console game but stay true to the pokemon formula(8 badges, hours of your life).

personally i'm not expecting anything amazing from these games, the pokemon series seems to have long gone past the stage when it can "impress me". but they have never failed to keep me amused for hours on end and helped me through many a long journey so I say let nintendo keep making them because as long as theres something new in them i'll probably keep buying them.

I second that! That's one of the main reasons I buy these games.
