A lot of performance! He is playing an adaptation of Bach's Double Concerto for Violin, the third movement of the Beethoven Moonlight Sonata, and some other stuff. He isn't playing any hymns or anything, unless you count a Christmas quintet. (Five pianos) Depending on which piano professor you get, you may get more songs that he did for the first semester.

oooh that makes me feel better...I was really worried, (looking at the audition requirments) that Masters was way worship orientated musically...and not very classical...

No way! Of course they do like that people are involved in the church in those ways, but they still do classical music! I guess the violin professor played a Bach Partita (or Sonata? I can't remember...) in Chapel. She did play some hymns, but I was surprised that she played classical. They've got a REALLY good academic program there. (2nd on intercolegiate schools in the west, but the Air Force Academy is 1st, so duh it's second. I don't know if intercolegiate was the listing, but you get the point...) I'm really excited about going there!

On that note, maybe I'll see you there, because I really seriously have to drag myself away from the internet...

SHOOT! The dumb thing logged on as Nighthawk... And I think I just changed his password...lol... Well. This is Elli, if you haven't gathered that.
*sigh* I just HAD to get on and tell you (Armeth) that there's FINALLY a George Winston Piano book!!!! I ordered mine off of www.sheetmusicplus.com (If that's not the url just google sheet music plus, but I'm pretty certain that's it.) I've been playing out of it a lot this afternoon and it makes you feel all warm and fuzzy inside. Part of that is the childhood memories...I totally grew up on that stuff! I mean seriously, probably every Christmas of my life I've watched the Snowman.Anyway. I know, sheesh, I can't seem to leave. |
