What am I doing? I should be doing work ;]

But I am - sorta. As you know -points to banner- I do design. And Heck this is what I want to do professionally (I'm not selfplugging, just working my way into the atmosphere of the topic) ... (Honest).

So what do YOU want to be when you are older, say ...10 years time?

Even a rough idea what you will be aimming for. Why did you pick [or forced] to take whatever subjects you have? Are you expecting to use them later in life? (I didn't haha)(High School years I mean)

You aimming for these sort of jobs?

Bounty Hunter? (My dream job. Seriously)
Teacher of some sort? (did you always wanted to be a teacher Jehanne?)
Game Tester?
Game Developer?
Policeman/woman?
Janitor?
Pirate?

With your education?

Alright! Pencils down, and give me your results tongue.gif

Well my dream job would be to become a professional football player. Not even NFL in particular since I doubt I'm good enough to make it there but maybe the AFL (arena football league) for the Austin Wranglers.

If not an athlete I'd love to do something that involves sports like being a sports agent or a sports journalist.

If not any of the above I'd like to be a writer of some sort. Any kind of writer, really, from books to TV or movies. I know that's really far from sports things but I love to write and am even trying to write a book now (although making slow progress).

Psychologist. I love the human mind, I love everything about it.

I'd also like to help people with problems, since I myself have had many.

I've always kinda wanted to design and make video games, but I'll probably end up being an author instead.

Musician. I love, love, LOVE music.
If not, though, I'd really like to be a teacher. Knowledge has always been something I've valued, and I love school; learning things is always an important thing, as being well rounded gets you places in life. So, yeah. Maybe a grade school teacher. That'd be a lot of fun.

A full time artist, with a full studio at my disposal. Art and Design is what I focused on through education, where I got myself some good A-Level grades, which I took along with me to college for a while. Unfortunately, Art has little potential career-wise, I have no real interest in teaching it currently. It's taken a real back seat since I've been working, I havn't even made any doodles in over a year.

Note to self: Doodle.

My overall goal is to either be a web designer or a graphics designer. Taking a lot of computer classes this year.

I also wanted to be a musician, but I gave up after realizing that I didn't have the dedication.

I also wanted to do both. I play the cello reasonable well, but I just didn't practise D:

And art, well, I just think I'm not good enough and thus don't practise either.

Alas xD

Pffff, i have no direction. Im taking Philosophy for my degree at Uni for gods sake. I think it would be totally sweet to be a lecturer or A level teacher though. Nice work, long holidays, all tht jazz.

And yeah, it would be totally sweet to be an artist of any kind, musical or graphic or whatever, but im just not talented in those ways.

HOW DO

I've considered being a musician in the future, as a lot of my freetime goes into my guitar, but I've also considered all the turmoil and drama that goes along with it, and there's also the fact that it's a horribly unrealistic goal.

I'd like to also be some sort of journalist, preferably one who's allowed to throw a lot of opinion into his work.

Some of the classes I'm in look to be potentially effective for these and other goals (English, Phys. Science, Spanish II, Choir, and maybe even Health/Gym), but I'm still not sure why I'll ever need Geometry or World Geography in life. I don't plan on being an architect or a commercial airline pilot.

So yeah. We all spoke about what we could be doing and all that.

I'm (now) also interested in how long you actual want to stay in education. Are you willing to spend 4 or 5 more years in college/University for a single degree?

I am - or have to - spending an extra fours years out of high school (2 at college and 2 at Uni) so I should be 22 years old when I get my Degree with Honors (Bsc) at the end of it.

Are you willing to spend all that time?

I wasn't, although it was more for financial reasons more than unwillingness.

I stayed on for two years of 6th Form at the high school I went to, mainly focusing on Media and Art. I completed both AS and A level studies with good success, mainly in art. I then went on to a college not too far from home, and did another year on Fine Art. Around this time, I was getting increased pressure from my parents to get in to full time work. They're pretty old fashioned, the kind who think you should be working in a coal mine at the age of 10. I was really busy back when I was in 6th Form, doing full time education, then around 30 hours work a week in the evenings and weekends. One of them had to go, and with rent etc, further education had to suffer. I've pretty much had "artist's block" since, having little to no time to do anything artistic with full time work.

I do believe I will get back in to things at a later date though, so hopefully, all is not lost.

Oh man, that REALLY sucks.
I seriously hope you can start back up again. I understand how much work it is to get back from a slump D:

I remember a time that was true with my parents. I left my old job and was unemployed for 2 months, but I was still in education. Though I did want to go back to work - they seem really stressed out that I wasn't "really" trying hard. Almost everyday they would ask if my job hunting was successful o:

So when I left my job again in June and planned to do some freelancing, they were abit skeptical.

Then Uni came around, and I was really worried that I would have to do part time, Uni, and seeing my partner during every week - I would've done it if I had to. And my parents turned around and said, "We don't expect you to work whilst your at Uni" O: My jaw hit the floor!
