SPOILERS BELOW

Who would have thought that the Hallows and the Horcruxes would be two different things?

My initial reactions to DH

I thought the style seemed a bit different at the beginning. I can't yet put my finger on why that hit me.

It was a bloodbath. I remember seeing little 7, 8 and 9 year olds at the book release. I hope their mommies and daddies read the book first before reading it to their tots.

I'm glad the search was hard. I'm glad it was dull and frustrating a lot of the time. I'm also glad that there was the "alternative" path that was offered up.
In a real epic, the hero is often tempted from the "true" path.

Once the wand magic had been explained, and it was clear the DD's wand was the Elder Wnad, I was thinking, Draco had the unbeatable wand in his in grasp, but didn't know it. If he'd kept it, there would surely have been a new dark lord.

I thought the Epilog was too cute and sappy. However, I may have just been too tired at that point to appreciate it. I would have rather had an interior moment from any one of the trio summing up what happened afterward.

I think need to read it again th_sombrero.gif

I just finished a few minutes ago. I thought the book was fantastic. I actually did like the Epilogue as well.

I thought all the wand information, as well as Dumbledore's back story was fascinating.

Do you think Draco would have used the power to become a new dark lord, had he realized he had it? It seemed the Malfoy's had finally come to realize the true evil of Voldemort. Draco's nod in the epilogue seems to indicate a sort of mutual truce, albeit a continued mutual dislike.

There's a saying: people who live in glass houses shouldn't throw stones. Okay, how about... nobody should throw stones. Thats just crappy behavior. My policy is no stone throwing regardless of housing situation. There is one exception though: if your trapped in a glass house and you have a stone, then throw it. What are you an idiot? So really its only people in glass houses should throw stones, provided they are trapped in the glass house with the stones.... - Demetri Martin

True...but that was a diminished Malfoy, not a confident struting Malfoy. If he had a n unbeatable wand, I think it would have gone to his head.
