Desmond lay on the couch, daydreaming of gum drops and candy canes as the year grew nearer to the winter season. Desmond not dare go outside to catch fresh air, because it was just to brisk outside for him to stand in his headmasters gown. " I think this day has gone to the dogs" he said looking up at the ceiling, hoping for it to move to his will."Omg ther is no one to talk to here, The school just got up and running" desmond thought to himself knowing now that his hope for someone to walk in was highly unlikly. "I am almost sad I'm here" he said to himself. The only reason he was there was because of the three students already there. He was there because he had to watch out for the 3 students that came here early. "What did there parents just drop them off here, because they couldn't wait to be rid of them for a whole year" he pondered to himself. Desmond shook off his tension and went to the staff fridge to get something to eat. Desmond didn't have anyone to impress by magically summoning his food so why bother, he wanted to get up and actually get his food because there was nothing else to do. "I wonder when all those teachers I hired will get here" he said to himself brushing his hand in his hair.
[yay I actually had time in school today to finish it]

Jin was wandering around the school, bored out of his mind, and a bit hung over from yesterday's adventure with that old guy, Shino. The bloody marry was the best liquid he's ever had, though he wished it contained real blood, that would have given it a better taste. He wanted to go to the library again, in order to find something interesting to read, but then he remembered what happened yesterday when he took a book from the restricted section off it's place. It wasn't a very nice experience, in the end. Instead, he decided to explore the castle and get more familiar with his surroundings. Despite the fact he had woken up in Gryffindor Tower this morning, he decided to go back to the dungeon and explore the area around the Hufflepuff common rooms first, seeing as that was going to be his home for most of his next 7 years of life.
Along the way, the boy noticed a door that he'd never noticed before. It was in the entrance hall, so he must have passed it many times, but he guessed it just didn't stand out. It gave off a vibe that told him he was not allowed in there, and he decided it was best to explore. He went into the room, only to find a teacher in there. Jin bowed his head submissively and kept his hes from making contact. "I-I'm sss-sorry, Sir," He stammered, bowing to the man. "I didn't mean to disturb you..."

Desmond looked at the boy standing there, apologizing and smiled at him. Desmond wasn't upset or mad or anything like that, actually Desmond was quite the opposite. Desmond was just happy that someone had entered the room and given him someone to talk to. "Young man, is there anything you wished to talk to me about, or are you just lost" Desmond said urging the boy to sit down, offering him some food from the faculty fridge.
Desmond led the boy, mostly pushing, to the couch and offered him some lasagna with all 7 cheeses. "You do know that your one of the most earnest children that I have ever seen. It isn't anywhere close to when hogwarts is to start, but here you are sitting next to me" Desmond said picking up a cookie from the coffee table. "You know what though, I'm glade you did come early. I don't know if I'm cut out for all this lonely business" he said looking up at the celling.

"No, I was just, wandering around... Jin answered softly, "I wanted to get use to the school before classes started." Jin's face turned blue with nervousness as he felt the mans hand on his back, 'Is he...' He shook the thought out of his mind, adults touch children all the time, and it was normal. plus, Jin felt he trusted this guy, though he denied it and told himself that he felt intimidated.
Jin sat on the couch as offered and stared at the Lasagna, not really thinking about it, just staring at it.... The cheese... All the cheese!! He blinked himself out of his daze then said with glee. "Ah, yes, sir, thank you, sir!" He grabbed the plait into his hands and bowed to the headmaster.
Jin had only cut off a piece of his lasagna when Desmond finished his last sentence. "Yeah, I'm glad I came here too," He nervously put his hand behind his head and began scratching the back of his head, "My dad can be crazy sometimes; I get tired of it sometimes. I can't wait to until hes old so I can put him in a nursing home." The boy blushed slightly, hoping he had not said something wrong.

Desmond slunk in his chair. It had been 250 years since he was ever thought of as young. "Lemme ask you something. Do I look old to you?" Desmond asked looking at his old hands with veins pulsing in view. Desmond was always a vampire and he was proud of it but this whole living for eternity business wasn't really appealing to him anymore. Sure it was all fine and good when he first found out but now, it just seems like it's all pointless. Desmond only got the job as headmaster because he had nothing else to do but help others.
Desmond patted the boy on the back and said "You don't have to answer that, I already know the answer". Desmond slunk back to the refrigerator and grabbed a coca-cola and set it on the coffee table in front of the boy. "Here ya go. Hope you like coke because thats all the staff ever drinks here" Desmond said with a disgusted face. Desmond didn't mind coke, every once in a wail, but he hasn't drunken anything else for 5 years so you could imagine that he was tired of it. "Well I have nothing to do, would you mind hanging out with me for a wail? We haven't a television, but we could find something else to do for the time being." Desmond asked hopefully. Desmond has tried before to hang out with students but they have all thought of him as the old creepy headmaster with the white hair and the funny robe.

Jin felt ashamed of himself when Desmond asked him if he was old, the blood rushing both in and out of his face in embarrassment. At first he'd thought he had said something wrong, his fear seeming to come true. He starred down at his lasagna, suddenly feeling as if he was unworthy of this offering. He could feel a sharp pain in the back of his eyes that told him he was about to cry, but he was able to hold back this time. He felt better when he received a pat on his back, and looked up at Desmond, only to find that he was offering a Coke. When he saw it, he got an image in his mind of himself pouring water fountain water all over a can then shoving it in his pocket.
"No thanks, I have one," He said, pulling the now dented, shaken and warm coke out of his pocket, but he used his common since and put it away then got the one offered anyways. He looked up at Desmond, "Sure, I can hang out for a bit," He said smiling, but then his tone changed, "Just don't..." he stopped himself from saying anymore, as he didn't want to bring up the subject.

Desmond looked at the boy questioningly. What was the boy afraid desmond might do? The frase please don't just made Desmond question what he had been doing and what this could be. Desmond then looked at the boy and said "Whatever you don't want me to do, I can't promise onless you tell me what I shouldn't do". Desmond pulled out a stuffed bunny that he had carried around since he was 5 (in human years) and sat it on the table. "see that bunny? well he needs a new friend since his current one isn't in need of him" Desmond said smiling with joy. "When I was a little boy like you, I was afraid of everything. Mice, the dark, you name it and it was my greatest fear. But with this young bunny named Charlie, I was able to get over all of that mainly because I knew that Charlie would never hurt me". Desmond picked up the bunny and put it in the little boys arms. "If you wish it, he is yours" he said smiling even more now.

The boy flushed pale when Desmond when he said he could not promise anything, feeling ashamed that he had mentioned anything at all. "It's nothing. You don't seem like someone how would do such a thing, so never mind."
The boy blushed when the bunny was placed in his hands and offered to keep, nearly crying. It reminded him of the giant bunny laying lonely on his bed in the Hufflepuff dorms that he's had as long as he could remember, and he thought of how horrible he would feel if the bunny was stolen. "But...He's yours. I don't think I can take him away from you."

"nonsense, I don't need him anymore. Charlie has served his purpose with me, and now he needs to pass his love on to someone else" Desmond insisted. Desmond was still wondering what the boy meant by what he said earlier so he decided to just drop it so he wouldn't create any confusion, mostly in himself. "Remember to take good care of him. He is old now and he needs to be handled with care since he is so fragile" He said looking at the scroll of parchment on the table.
Desmond looked around the room and spotted a cat walk into the room. Of course it would be his cat Snickers. "Oh Snickers what are you doing up here in the faculty room. You know better than to wonder off away from the office and it is ever so hard to find you if you go missing" He said gawking at his kitten. Desmond summoned the cat onto his lap and started to stroke him softly. He could feel the soft humming of delight as time went by. The cat was named snickers, because he had a creamy brown coat that glistened like chocolate, and Desmond had a really big sweet tooth. "You know he isn't harmful. Go on and pet him." Desmond said to the boy as he stroked his kitten under his chin.

Jin looked up at Desmond, tears taking form in his eyes. "Are you sure?" he asked hugging Charlie the Rabbit, feeling both happy and unworthy to receive any gifts at all. It was such a noble gesture that he had no idea how to react. "Th...Thank you, Professor... I'll take good care of him." The boy hugged the bunny and rubbed his face against it, observing the cat as he did so. When Desmond said the boy could pet it, he moved right next to Desmond and began to pet the kat on his head. "He's cute."
((sorry is so short.))

"Yeah, I know. It's been a while since Snickers let anyone else touch him." Desmond said picking up the cat and hugging him tightly. The cat didn't like this and started to claw and squirm. Next thing Desmond knew, the cat had scratched his face below his left eye and darted for the door. "Snickers, you know better than to do that to me" Desmond said getting up to go to the nearby sink to get a towel. Desmond saw the cat run out of the room, so he shut the door using his wand. "I swear that cat has issues" He said. After he had said that he looked at himself in the mirror and remembered that he had issues to and laughed at himself.
"What an idiot" he said slapping his forehead in stupidity. Desmond had forgotten that today was the day he was to restock the staff room. Desmond sighed and slumped to the couch again and said "Ah who cares, It's not like theres any staff to please". Desmond remembered that he was in the presence of a young boy and changed his attitude quick. Wipeing his robe off, Desmond waved the boy over to sit nearer to him so that he could tell him something secret. "Do you wanna know something about me that no one knows here yet?" He asked the boy. Desmond now remembered that the boy was one of the few that was there at Hogwarts at the time and he slapped his head again in stupidity. "Ahh whatever, but still do you wanna know my secret" he asked.

"Really?" Jin looked at the cat dumbfounded, then got an idea as the cat left the room. "You know, I have a cat in my dorm, maybe he would like to hang out with an other cat for a while." He suggested, picturing his kitten Shadow sleeping on Wabu, his giant blue bunny pillow, all day and geting fat from the lack of exercise. Though, he was only a new born kitten and more likely to be jumping around at the speed of sound and climbing on the bed curtains then laying around all day. He was just bought in Diagon Alley before coming here, one of the few things his father did nice that day, probably because he had not been drinking.
Jin snapped out of his thoughts to see that the headmaster was beaconing him over, and he joined him once again. He was not sure what to think about Desmond wanting to spill a secret to him, no ever wanted to before, but he was curious, and he knew he could keep a secret. "Are you a," He gulped, "Wizard?" This was meant to be a joke, but he did not show it.

Desmond looked at the boy for a moment. He knew he had to be joking but his expression didn't show it. Desmond quickly snapped out of his thoughts to talk to the boy again. "Well yes but, thats not what I was going to tell you." He said making his face funny to make the boy laugh. "What I am about to tell you is a secret and only you will know it." Desmond said now with a slight more serious face. "The only reason I feel like telling you is that you seem to be quite the trustworthy type, and I feel like you and I can be friends". Desmond now held the boy within earshot of only the two of them and began to whisper his secret.
"I...Am...a....vampire". Desmond waited eagerly for the boys response. Desmond didn't know what the boy would say, or do. He might freak out, or beg him to drink his blood, or feint. Those were the most populare reactions that Desmond got. Once Desmond had gotten these reactions though he was meaning to kill them anyway. Therefore Desmond was sure that the boy would understand him and react differently than all the others he had told before him. Desmond told the boy that he was the only one he had told, but he didn't tell him the whole thing. What Desmond really was meaning is He had told no one before him that had lived to tell others.

Jin giggled at Desmond's face, mostly because it was unexpected and because he was an adult. "Sorry," he said, his cheeks a bit red, the colour going away once he felt the man pulling him closer. He suddenly became intense as the man began whispering, half expecting him to do something to scare the boy at the last minute, and that's just how the boy reacted. When Desmond was done with his last words, the boy lurched as if Desmond screamed at him, but then he realised what a fool he was being and what was really said.
"Oh, sorry about that," he said, red with embarrassment, "That's okay." He smiled at Desmond, trying to cover up his embarrassment. "I know a vampire, well, sort of, and I'm not very human my self, either." He hoped this was not wrong to say.

Desmond had hoped for this response, mostly because he liked the little boy and wanted to be friends with him. Desmond was sterile and couldn't have kids even if he tried, which he wouldn't because he wouldn't want another vampires hunger to feed. Nothing was worse than a baby vampire. Desmond patted the boy on the head and nodded. "Thats good then. I was hoping you would be ok with it. No one at the school knows so you can't tell anyone. There aren't a lot of my kind alive nowadays." he said looking at his watch. The time had gone by so quickly that it astounded him. Usually he wasn't that caring about time because he had eternity to be alive, but the clock stroked 11 am and he knew that the boy wouldn't be liking to stay much longer.
Mostly in Desmond's life he has ignored others because of the way that they treated him when they found out, but something about this little boy told Desmond that it was ok to be friends with him. Desmond had completely forgotten that he had forgotten to introduce himself as he thought of what the boys name was. "Oh how stupid of me, my name is Desmond and I am your headmaster by the way. Would you mind telling me what your name is young man" Desmond asked politely.
