Subplot One : This Means War

Queen Camilla Audette has reigned with a gentle hand over her kingdom, and her subjects are loyal and love her. She has been without a king for 10 years, and has proven to be a worthy, just Queen. Estellasia is a nearly perfect kingdom, where the citizens are cheerfully living out their Happily Ever Afters.

There's something stirring in the North. The Enchantress, the ruler of the dark kingdom Whisperia, has been after Estellasia from the time she came to power. She's power-hungry. She's cruel. She will go as far as she has to, and she's finally found her way in.

The Countess Medea Ophelia is the Queen's cousin and has envied the stroke of luck that placed her as Queen instead of the Countess. She will do anything in her power to remove Queen Camilla from the throne, and to remove her daughter, Gwendolyn, as well.

Princess Gwendolyn is the next in line to take the throne. While she does not wish to become Queen, she will do anything for her beloved country and will do anything to preserve the memory of her father, the late King Philip Audette.

Victoria Ophelia, like a caged bird, is constantly being manipulated by her mother. While the Countess has tried time and time again to get Victoria on the throne, Queen Camilla has stepped in and taken Victoria under her wing. Victoria is a vital aspect in the fight for the throne.

Subplot Two : Through the Garden Gate

A chance break in the seal between the Mortal world and the Enchanted world brought Emerson Callahan to the land of Estellasia. Since his arrival, he has been blending into the role as the Royal Gardener and Princess Gwendolyn and Victoria have learned of his origin. They have instructed him to lay low because of a prophecy that was made concerning a Mortal being the key to the Kingdom. They believe they are the only ones who know.

What they don't know is that Orithyia the Sprite is the one who brought Emerson to Estellasia, and that she is a loyal follower of the Countess Medea. Everything the Countess knows, the Enchantress knows, and thus the Enchantress, knowing of the prophecy, is after the Mortal herself.

Once Victoria and Gwendolyn learn of this plot, they come up with a plan to take Emerson to the Wizard in Estellasia to find a way to get him back to safety - to the mortal world...

Subplot Three : There's a Spy in our Midst

Unable to rely on her own daughter for information on the Princess, the Countess has brought in a spy, Avalyn Abastor, the first and only female Knight in the Whisperian army. She is posing as a Lady-in-Waiting to the Princess and has to get the Countess' foot in without being suspected, something very hard for the brutal, heartless Avalyn.

Subplot Four : Oh, It Is Love.

Emerson and the Princess... What had started off as a very rocky relationship that could barely be considered as friendly. But when the two open up together they find they have a lot more in common than they thought. Emerson helped show the Princess what she was missing as they both snuck out of the castle in the dead of night. It was this occasion when true feelings came out and Gwendolyn was sure she had just experienced True Love's Kiss.

However, the very next morning a very upset Queen informs her daughter that a Suitor has been chosen to be Gwendolyn's husband: Prince Simon Levasseur. Gwendolyn is hardly thrilled at all, and things only get worse as Emerson witnesses the Proposal.

A heartbroken Emerson, vulnerable and upset, is exactly what Avalyn needs to further carry out the will of the Enchantess... it is very soon after that Emerson falls for the deceitful Lady-in-Waiting.

Subplot Five : A Prophetess and a Wizard Walk Into a Pub...

Years ago a Prophecy passed the lips of Lucetta Aegeon, the trusted Soothsayer of Estellasia, which depicted a Mortal stumbling upon the Enchanted world, and stated that he would be the Key to the Kingdom during wartime. Because of this prophecy, the Enchantress has her eyes set upon the Mortal, and war is on the horizon.

There is one obvious remedy to this problem: Get rid of the Mortal. And there is one person who can help: Dimitri Oleander, the only [known?] Wizard in Estellasia.

Sir Gawain Malory has risen to the occasion to perform a secret mission for his Princess, to take the Mortal Emerson to the Wizard. A spur of the moment decision later, and Gwendolyn is climbing upon a horse and following close after the two, determined to help in this Quest, unknowingly kicking the War to life as the Country is certain that their beloved Princess has been kidnapped.

Subplot Six : Grab Your Torches and Pitchforks!

With the brand new war on the horizon, the people of Estelle have become paranoid and have taken to keeping their eyes peeled for people who come off as 'different'. It does not take long for Tristan Alexander III to be noticed. He is the Blacksmith's Apprentice in Estelle, and his golden eyes betray him as the should-be Duke of Whisperia. As most dark dealings happen, he is dragged out of his house in the middle of the night by a rather angry and violent mob, and is taken straight to the Castle for judgment.

The Queen can take no risks when it comes to her people and she banishes Tristan back to Whisperia, sparing his life. The one person who stands up for Tristan is Victoria Ophelia, the Countess' daughter. As she confesses that she has known his secret for some time, she is counted as a conspirator and she and her mother both are finally banished to Whisperia as well.

Once back in Whisperia, to save his neck from the Enchantress, and with anger toward the country of Estellasia for betraying him, Tristan submits to the Enchantress and takes up his role as Duke of Whisperia. Seeing a change within him, the Enchantress and the Countess feel the best way to keep the Countess' wayward daughter at bay is to bind her to someone they can depend on. Therefore a marriage ceremony is performed, and Tristan and Victoria are wed.

And let's be honest. They're not totally against this.

Subplot Seven : Dead Servants Tell No Truths

It is a very rare occasion when the Countess Ophelia decides to place foot inside the castle that should have been hers! When she does step foot inside the castle, it is very short-lived, but a lot of things can happen in a short amount of time. On this particular day, the Countess decided to pop in to see how Avalyn Abastor was doing, the spy for the Enchantress, and to check on any progress concerning the Mortal.

However, servant girl Hazel Foxglove has been caught in the wrong place at the wrong time, and walks in on the conversation, thus understanding the evil plot that was going on behind the scenes under the Queen's very nose. She had to tell someone!

Ah, but quick Ava was ready for such an encounter... one slip of a knife and the servant girl would speak no more...

Subplot Eight : A Call to Arms

With a brutal war inevitably upon the horizon, the Knights of Estellasia are gearing up to defend their country. However, their numbers are small and there is no way so few Knights can lead the Estellasian Army into Battle. Sir Tybalt Wolfe, the Captain of the Knights, has gone off to round up more warriors from the different regions.

While on his crusade, Tybalt has left two very experienced Knights in charge: Sir Trystram Haynes and Sir Gawain Malory. They have been left up to training the younger men who have aspirations to become Knights. Young men such as Arthur von Ronsenburger, who have come forth to one of the most honourable calls one can answer to.

The threat of war is merely a joke to many of the Estellasians who have been living in perfect times of peace for as long as they could remember. However, a few young men from different regions have answered to the call to arms, men such as Kieran Toomes, a con-artist and thief who is in for a chance to redeem himself, and Will Sergio, the son of a Blacksmith.

Subplot Nine : Pick Your Poison

It is no secret that Felix Ives, newest addition to the Royal Guard, has been quite taken with Miss Alexia Rose for quite some time. It just so happens that after being sworn into the Royal Guard, Felix has decided it is time to ask the young apothecar for her hand in marriage. The two are so deeply in love and the news spreads like wildfire.

Instructed by the Countess, the Spy Avalyn has come not too long after the engagement with a request for Alexia. An attempt on the Queen's life is to be made and Alexia has been chosen to deliver a very strong poison to the castle. The request does not come without a threat, though. For what citizen of the Kingdom would willingly put themselves in such a position?

If Alexia refuses, suffering would fall upon everyone she held dear to her, and that inevitably meant Felix Ives.

So now Alexia has a choice to make... will she become a traitor of the worst sort, or will she risk the lives of her family and fiance?
