i know it's only been 1 episode so far but anybody got any thoughts? i was surprised to find that i quite enjoyed it ^_^ the plot is very intriguing, the writing is pretty decent & the cliffhanger was brilliant (all though we all know that he'll survive). i also found myself absolutely hating the bad guys within 10 seconds of them being on screen & there aren't many shows that can do that nowadays :D

I thought it was very slow to start with, almost dull. But after half an hour, it really picked up.

As for the bad guys, well it's pretty easy to hate them, they're mostly politicians! Although the twist with the Asian Doctor being a double-crosser was very clever, probably the best thing about the whole episode actually.

I wish I could've enjoyed the cliffhanger, but you just know Jack will be (they kinda revealed that at the very end of the "next episode" trailer if you look closely).

Torchwood is not a patch on Doctor Wh0 though...

i dunno. the latest Who's have been pretty ropey & the writing has been shakey at best, hopefully the forthcoming specials will be worth a look tho :)

The next one, 'Waters of Mars' looks great, very horror based judging by the trailer.

As for Torchwood, it's finally picking up the pace but I still find of the acting really awful.

it's Torchwood, the acting will always be pants buy Eve Myles is nice to look at and all the women (and a lot of guys) like John the Amazing Googler Animal Cookie finder Barrowman.

actually, i found last night's (day 4) episode really really sad in the end. of course we all know that it's going to be all ok & everything will be better in the end than it was to start with.

unless the world truly does get fucked, in which case we'll never know because the Doctor will come back and change history thus negating the need for him to come back and change said history in the first place.

forget heroin, sci-fi is serious mind fuck

I thought the mini-series this week started very well with Monday's episode but went downhill after that.

Thursday's wasn't very good and they shouldn't have killed Ianto. Today's was a pile of shite! 50 minutes of running around like headless chickens before killing the aliens by singing a high pitched note? Absolute crap. Poor rip off of Mars Attacks.

yeah, i was a little bit let down by the ending. mainly because Torchwood is effectively disbanded (only 2 members left now - one of whom isn't even on this planet anymore!!). always thought it'd go out with a bang - both the team and the series. killing ianto was silly really....that's effectively 3 members killed in 5 episodes (not counting the last piss poor Doctor finale in which they appeared). methinks Russell T Davies (or whoever does the writing now) is suffering from a serious case of writer's block, which is a shame because it worked much better as a 5 part mini-series rather than the usual '6 brilliant episodes padded out with 7 shite ones' format.

but that's just my opinion

That's why alot of Who fans can't wait for RTD to go and Moffat to take over in the new year.
Yes, he should be applauded for bringing the show back, but after 5 years, his creativity is gone and the episodes are suffering as a result (just look at the dire Easter special and the lazy ending to Torchwood last night)!
