Hellmouth?

Life here seemed very normal at first. Kids went to school, people lived their lives...but then there was a strange anomaly. At first, we had all thought that it was like a harmless comet. But then we recieved the news that it wasn't. It was an occurance that only happens once in many lifetimes...scientists called it a gamma ray burst. We had been told that it could be a global killer, it could possibly incinerate all life on earth in an instant...it was something none of us were prepared for.

But all didn't go as planned, and as we waited for death, alone, or with families, in prayer, or in a bar, we all saw it. The green light came, it looked like an Aurora Borealis not a killer. The green light seemed to swirl, and it turned blood red...and then it disappeared. No one had died, we all watched. We all rejoiced, we'd survived what we had thought would exterminate us all.
