On Weds 5th Nov, the northern forces of Parliament and the King will test to conclusions on the fertile plains of Cheshire.

Fairfax is on the brink of capturing Chester and disarming the Irish veteran foot commanded by Byron. Newcastle lifted the siege of Hull and marched to York, then hearing of Byron's plight, crossed the Pennines and with all haste rushed to the aid of the beleagured and outnumbered Byron.

Fairfax, wishing to fulfil Parliament's earnest desire he capture Chester and deprive the King of a northern port, has marchd a portion of his force to delay Newcastle's arrival and the two forces have met amongst the Cheshire meres close to Northwich. Will Sir Henry Foulis with 1500 horse and 1200 foot, plus two batteries of light field guns be able to defeat or at least damage Newcastle's force of 1200 horse, 200 dragoons and 3000 foot plus two batteries of guns?

The game is Roger as Sir Henry v Paul as Cavendish, Earl of Newcastle, in 15mm using my figures and FoG-adapted rules. There are places for sub-generals in both armies if anyone else wishes to play!
