I hadn't roleplayed in years before joining here, and when I did join I was happy to follow roleplays and join in other people's occasionally, but I took a leap and made my own last month. I've been trying to write up the first post... but.. I'm not satisfied with it and keep wanting to redo it, and wanting to add a twist, but not wanting to add a twist, and ARGHH ;;'

I think it's simply called writer's block. How do you remedy this?

This is a problem a lot of people face. There always used to be hundreds of threads on writing websites with ways to remedy it, so (returning to the aforementioned website for once in a blue moon) these are the tips on combating writer's block I found most useful. Most of these come from poem/story writers so I'm not entirely sure how useful they are for kickstarting roleplay writer's block, but hopefully it works with all types of this.
QUOTE
'Many writers sit down intending to write the next worldwide bestseller. That's an unreasonable goal. So sit down at your computer in front of a blank document or grab a fresh piece of notebook paper and write the first thing that pops into your head. It doesn't matter if there is no plot and it's completely horrible-- just writing *something* is your goal here. This should get your creative juices flowing again. '

It seems like an odd idea to just sit down with no goal of writing anything that has a point, but surprisingly it's one of the best methods to getting rid of the dreaded Writer's Block. (So scary it has to be capitalised.)
QUOTE
'I truly believe that in order to stay writing you must be in a writing mode.(Uh, that sounds stupid, but I'll elaborate)
In my short life, I have always been a writer, constantly at a piece of paper scratching away, and not once did I ever feel this "writer's block." As the years went on I found myself growing more and more into an understanding with what that was. The way to get over it is simply to get into a writing mode. When you know yourself, you'll know what inspires you. Then, you find yourself seeing things that you have never really looked at, and you find yourself subconsciously thinking of how that can be a story. It becomes a part of you. It takes practice, it takes time. It takes a person that really likes writing. '

Apologies if these do, again, sound a little story writers/poem writers oriented, but these were the solutions I could find that referred least to writing that type of thing. Hope they're helpful for you, they are for me.

I was hoping to incite discussion into this topic but perhaps we're too dead :(

I tried just writing. I will have to try again, and not be so critical of the first paragraph before I move on to the second one. XD
