Moving forward, Max strikes out twice at the Hyena with his pipe, succeeding in catching it off guard and slamming it down to the ground, its legs giving way and leaving it helpless for the time being as it desperately attempts to scamper back upright. (ZH #1 -5, -6).

Merclilessly keeping up his attack, Max hammered the Hyena until it looked in worse shape than he was.

Striking viciously at it with his pipe, Max cracks the poor beast's skull open with the second attack, killing it shortly before the third strike connects with its limp corpse. (ZH #1, Killed).

Max had probably went a bit overboard with the pelting he gave the creature, but who was going to fault thoroughness now? Heading down the path around the cage, Max takes his time in an attempt to recollect on his senses and fatigued body

Max is able to catch his breath as he proceeds onwards, unhindered by anymore surprise animal attacks.

He soon enough finds himself once again stood in front of the door leading out to the Stage area. And knowing his luck, that damn lioness was still out there. Not to mention it'd been sometime since he'd last seen Austin. Was he even still alive? Would he have to worry about the elephant coming here? Was the girl ok?

The questions are something of a headache, battering away at Max's slowly feebling mind every few minutes.

Remembering his former dedications, Max was reminded of how he needed whatever this lion was protecting, not only for himself, but for Jen- and to a lesser extent Austin. He'd kill this lion, kill the elephant and kill anything else that he had to, to make sure they all got out alive.

If someone wasnt paying any attention, Max may have looked like an old action movie hero- or maybe that was just in his head. Taking a deep breath, Max tried the doors into the stage area...
