Everyone knows that I have had problems with theft of my work. So I started to copyright it to prevent that from happening again, or to deter those who wish to do it, as there is legal ramifications to stealing someones copyrighted work.

Well I just realized I hadn't posted how I did this and in case anyone else here wishes to do so, this is how... it is very easy shiny.gif :

You can enter symbols like the copyright or trademark symbol by holding down the Alt key on your keyboard and typing in numbers using your numeric keypad (it won't work without the numeric keypad). For example, holding down the Alt key and keying in 0169, (and then releasing the Alt key) will produce the copyright symbol. Here's a list of a few of these:

Alt + 0169 (copyright symbol)
Alt + 0174 (register mark)
Alt + 0153 (trademark)
Alt + 0233 (accented e)

Here is the link to where I found it... Accoustica

I basically just copy and pasted what they had... there were a few other links on the page though that you may find useful shiny.gif

Thank You,
The Princess shiny.gif thankyou.gif

So...if I post an original short story, then mark it as copyrighted or trademarked, it's actually legally binding?

Yes it is. I believe you don't even need the symbol. Simply stating that you copyright the material should be good enough. If someone steals your work and you can prove you copyrighted it before they posted it somewhere, the site has to remove it from their site. In some cases sites can even be shut down due to copyright infringement.
