Twilight, *An Eli, Devin, and Erika RP*

In the near future, Cobalt City has degraded into two basic zones. The rich, and not-rich sides. The rich half really is not bad. It looks more like a suburb with lawns, a very big, and beautiful park, and friendly area, but the other half is the pure-urban area. Hell has broken loose. Crime is on the rise, corrupt politicians, corrupt cops, thugs, and the occasional mutant. Not to mention the paranoia of an Energy Crisis.

However, three families of scientists, all employies of the Omega Corp. have been working on an experiment with two new substances recently discovered in fragments of an asteroid that hit back in 2030. They have code-named these new substances: Light and Dark Matter.

It seemed when the two were combined, a massive release of energy occured, only when two drops came together, but the Omega Corp., led by Johnathan Kreiger, plans to harness this energy in the upcoming experiment. But noone could expect the disaster that would occur...the four persons focused in the blast being three of the children of the three families, and Kreiger himself. There would be new hope for Cobalt City...through its nearly never-ending smog and rain, and the eternal twilight.....

Another day, another oppurtunity for Mr. Spears to try and make me flunk math Thought the young Devin Smith, as he walked wearing a backpack out of his house twoards the nearest bus stop. Naturally he meant the High Cobalt bus...not the bus that headed into Low Cobalt. Nobody from High Cobalt liked going into Low Cobalt...it was more like something like Gotham City than an actual city. Unfortunatly, the Omega Corp.'s labs were in Low Cobalt, and still hadn't been robbed yet. So everyday, Devin's parents went into Low Cobalt, leaving their son on his own for the vast majority of the time.

Devin was only planning on making two stops: Selen's house, and Eli's house. Everyday it was the same. Wake up, shower, turn on the news and hear of another crime unsolved, or another mutant attack. Devin always thought that most people were a bit predjudice to the mutants...I mean, they WERE people too....mostly. And then, walk to the bus to school with Selen and Eli.

They were his two best friends, and strangely enough all of their parents worked together. But Devin often became annoyed with his parents...when they were actually home, because they always thought that Selen was Devin's girlfriend. He thought that Selen WANTED to remain single, so always argued back saying that they weren't. Not to say that Selen wasnt bad looking, in fact, she was flat out beautiful! He had suggested that she be a model, but she just said that she wasn't intrested in that kind of stuff. Whatever...

Selen woke up to her screeching alarm clock of death and opened her eyes to yet another dull Cobalt City day. She glanced over at the alarm clock oh her nightstand. Okay, an hour until Devin will walk by my house. I'm so glad I showered last night. She shuffled to her bathroom and scrutinized her appearance. "Today's a curly day. Less work."

In an hour, Selen had successfully donned a black, lace up top, a black a-hem skirt, and her favorite black Converse. These make me look so pale... but then again, that's the point, right?

She wandered into her father's study, covered in papers, books, and theories on Dark Matter, most of which Selen had read. She smiled when she saw her father slumped over, asleep on his desk, which meant he was close to a breakthrough, or at least thought he was. She prodded him gently. "Daddy, you need to wake up. You can't be comfortable."

He opened one eye and sat up sharply. "Unh... did I fall asleep here again?" He scratched his head and looked at Selen. "Thanks, honey."

"No problem, Dad." She walked into the kitchen, wishing her mother would cook for once in her unmotherly life, but once again, the room was empty. She threw open the cabinet and grabbed a pop-tart and her messenger bag. Looking out the window, she saw Devin walking up her street. "Right on time. You could set your watch by that kid."

Opening the door, she walked out to the sidewalk and waited for him to approach. "Good morning." She said a little less than cheery.

"Lemme guess...found your dad asleep on his desk and your mom didnt cook again, right?" Devin asked. He knew the answer was going to be yes as usual. Funny how there was a basic schedule in every day life...hell, he was tempted to go into Low Cobalt JUST for a little change. "Well Selen, you're lucky. You actually SEE your parents once in a while." Devin said sarcastically. Most days Devin's parents were gone before he was awake, and got back after he was asleep.

"Well, at least the experiment is in a week, and things can finally get a bit normal with my family....maybe." Devin continued, as they continued walking.

Selen rolled her eyes. "Normal...? What's that?" She gave Devin a playful shove. "And don't worry about your parents. They'll come around eventually. And, until then, you've got me and Eli." She eyed him maliciously. "Don't get any big ideas though." I am so one of the guys... They probably don't even think of me as a chick... She chuckled inwardly and grinned.

Actually, that was a bit of a lie. Inside, Devin always had a tiny crush on Selen, but he knew she wasn't intrested in him, so he didn't bother. "Lets see...you and Eli in the place of parents...Hmm..." Devin said jokingly. "I dont think it would go all that great. You'd probably get in a money argument and want a divorce within 2 minutes." He added, a joking smile on his face. And naturally, like it often did in Cobalt City, it began to rain...again. Devin flipped his hood up, and offered an umbrella he always kept to Selen. "Big surprise huh?"

She took it with a small smile. "Thanks." She rolled her eyes. "How are you so damn cheerful? We're going to school in the rain." I hate it here. It's amazing. I want to live somewhere where it's spontaneous and different. Somewhere warm... where it doesn't rain EVERY FLIPPIN' DAY! "Devin, have you ever thought about leaving? Here, I mean. Going someplace warm and spontaneous and... not stupid?"

"Alot...but think about...we're basically the future for the city. Who knows? When we're adults, we could turn this place around, maybe actually turn Low Cobalt int a decent place for once." Devin said, his tone more serious. It was clear that he actually had hope for the city. Then he shook his head. "Then again....it would take someone with super powers to do that." He said jokingly.













Ironic, isnt it?

Selen smiled wanly. "Maybe. We could do it. But only if we became corrupted politicians to get into the offices in the first place. Then, we could magically become un-corrupted to actually do something for the city." She sighed. "Like you said, super powers."

Selen and Devin were in practically all the same classes, including Criminal Studies, Selen's favorite class. "I hate to turn the subject to school, but who did you do your 'Famous Criminal' paper on? I did mine on Jack the Ripper. Ms. Hawthorne will flip out and probably send me to the counselor again." She laughed. "Anyway, did you finish it yet? She said if we turned it in today we could get extra credit." She bit her lip, a bit embarassed at what a geek she was.

"Yeah...I did mine on Jake Parker, that mutant crime lord that just escaped last month. I figured that I would get even more credit if it took place in Cobalt...then again, there are countless criminals...so it isn't anything all that special." Devin replied. Almost on cue, he could hear the whine of police crusiers coming from Low Cobalt. He sighed, perhaps Cobalt was doomed entirely.

Eli sighed. Another boring day for me. He thought, as he wearily got out of bed at the sound of his alarm clock. It was time to take a shower....although he couldnt be long, or Devin and Selen would have his ass again. "Damn I'm tired....I shouldve finished my criminal report earlier, but like always didnt start until 9 P.M. last night and finished around 1 A.M. I need to stop doing this to myself." He muttered to noone in particular. He also had criminal studies like Devin and Selen but was in a different period with all of what my counselor calls 'normal' kids. And he might as will end up sitting in the far back corner were the light over his head is always off.

Well everything normal so far as he got out of my long thinking period in the shower he looked at his alarm clock, "OH SHIT! I GOT TO GO!!!" He yelled. He ran outside of his house in his towel, then relized what he was doing and ran back inside. He then ran back out with his black pants and cameo shirt on. His parents were still asleep as far as he could tell, with their car still in the driveway. Well, they didnt get back until 12 A.M. but still it was 7 A.M. Then, he turned around and saw Selen and Devin waiting.

"Sorry, I didn't get out on time again." Eli said remorsefully

"We knew you wouldnt." Said Devin. "You're always late."

"I know, I know...but lets get started to the bus stop...." He replied.


Eli, this is your admin speaking. Please start posting in the same point of view as Erika and I. If you dont, I'll just have to edit your posts over and over again.

Selen rolled her eyes as Eli came running out of the house, shoes untied, hair sticking out at every angle, bloodshot eyes, and crusted drool on his face... as always. I swear if anything changed in this town, the world might spin off its axes.

"Wow, Eli." She said as they started walking. "You look worse than usual, if that's possible." She did not approve of his irresponsibility day after day. It was going to bit him in the ass eventually. But for now, it was still pretty fun to poke fun at. She scrunched up her face while she was looking at his hair. "Do you want a comb or something?" Selen rummaged in her purse until she found a comb. "You know what? I don't care if you want it or not, I can't stand your mop," she said, handing him the brush.

Everyday, comic moments like this happened. It was not far from Eli's home to the bus-stop, which was really just a street corner with a sign on it. Within five minutes of Eli refusing to brush, and eventually Selen grabbing the brush, and nearly strangling Eli just to keep him still so she could comb it, the bus arrived, filled with other students of all classes. The jocks, the preps, the nerds, the freshmen, the outcasts, and the 1 and a half seat that Selen, Devin, and Eli sat in.


Business as usual.

They got onto the bus and sat in their regular seat, Devin between Selen and Eli. "He's just mad because even in a skirt with a brush in my hand, I can still take him down." These guys are awesome. They're the only ones I know that would let a girl make fun of them this way. Selen looked around and glared with silent loathing at the cheerleader section of the bus. She hated the way they treated her like she was under them just because she had no desire to yell 'Go team! Go' like an idiot.

Even Devin secretly hated most of the "groups" of other students. Not one of them thought of anything other than themselves, or making out. It was as if they didnt care if crime ran rampant through the rest of the city while some people starved as long as they looked their best and were popular. If he wasn't so peaceful, he'd make them start to care.

The bus ride was short, about 10 minutes...and in Cobalt City, that is very short if driving. Cobalt High was easily the largest High School that Devin had ever seen. If he hadn't known it was a High School, he would have thought of it as a College Campus.....even thought THAT was about 3 times the size of this.

Selen rolled her eyes as she filed off the bus with everyone else. "So, guys," she checked her watch. 7:45. "we have 15 minutes. What do you want to do this morning?"

"Well," Devin started, "We COULD just wander like every morning......or we could fill the jocks' lockers with itching powder so that when they reach in, they will hopefully scratch till they bleed." He suggested nonchalantly. It was one of those moments where one could not tell if he was joking or not.

Selen smiled. "You're right... we could..." She grinned slyly. "Or we could tickle Devin until he screams!" She said, tackling Devin and holding him down while tickling him until tears pricked in his eyes.

Ugg another mushy love momement. Of course Eli wouldnt say it only in his head would he ever say that. Guys comeon stop fooling around. *Ding* *Ding* *Ding* comeon guys lets get to class. See you guys at luch Eli said, as he was heading off to his first period class science.....

She helped Devin off the ground and brushed him off. "You're too easy." She said, laughing. "Well, I'll see you guys in third period." By some miracle, they all managed to have Criminal Studies at the same time. "Bye!" She turned and headed off to choir. Selen is the school's leading alto, choir being her favorite elective.

Though Criminal Studies was not for a few periods, Devin's thoughts actually turned to Jake Parker. That man had been born human, but was taken under military experiments. That's how most mutants came. And now, he's a big, ugly, many armed strong genius who likes terrorizing people.

Devin's first class was one of his personal favorites: Drama. Always casting for another play or musical.
