A huge tower on an otherwise empty tower draws in heroes, villains, anyone with a goal in mind or a score to settle. Everyone knows that the top of the tower has nothing less to promise than everything they want.

Each floor of the tower has a challenge, an obstacle, a level. Each floor is presided over by a deity. These deities rotate ownership of floors, and do with them as they please. They add challenges, create rules, give and take powers, heal or harm, test the participants any way they see fit.

Your characters are aiming for the top, obviously. Only a limited number of people can claim the prize, so they can compete with others or form teams. There are many people aiming for the top, so if someone's character dies or gets injured and falls behind, they can introduce a new one and say "he was climbing the tower with a different group and got separated or something."

Here's the interesting part: You guys also get deities. One per person. We rotate control of each floor, essentially meaning that the DM of the RP is changing. There'll be separate profiles for participants and deities. The order of deities will be the order in which their profiles in person, though I'll be taking the first shift as an example.

These challenges shouldn't all just be physical challenges either. A multitude of skills and factors in characters should be tested.

This RP exists in the first continuity, but it probably won't be interacting with Renegade.

Well, yay or nay? If we still think this is a good idea by later today/early tomorrow I'll put up the profile topic and the actual RP, alright?

Yes, I believe this is an appropriate image.

An interesting premise and one that could lead to much merriment if done right.

Eh, what the heck, I'll start it now. Feel free to use any profile for your characters, such as mine in the first post of the "RP Character Form" topic. Specify whether or not they're a deity or participant. I'll post the RP profile topic when I'm done with mine.

So yeah, this whole topic was almost nearly pointless. Just lemme know if you want to ask stuff here, I guess.

So do we make new characters or can we use old ones? Human or any race? In a specific universe?

And this sounds fun. I'll do it.

Alright, the RP is posted! I'm going to take this opportunity to post some reminders and tips about the RP:
  • I know in Court Records I kinda put emphasis on you roleplayers, keeping you all from knowing each other's evidence and such, but here the focus is on the characters. Feel free to know information that your characters don't, and if there's a challenge with ambiguous enemies or geography (because seriously, who wants to write all that?) just make it up for your character. As long as it's good roleplaying, it goes.
  • Essentially, we're not testing YOU, we're testing your characters. Just roleplay well.
  • Feel free to RP background characters as you see fit, as long as you aren't godmodding. They're kinda like the NPC clones from PDS, or guildies from Renegade.
  • When making challenges, try to avoid "kill enemies" or "kill boss" challenges. Make them creative, fun to roleplay, and challenging something about our characters OTHER than fighting techniques.
  • As long as they aren't stupid or too hard or too long, there are no restrictions to how your tower floor can work. The only rule is to make it fun. Not necessarily for the characters, but for us. (If you can't make it fun to roleplay, making it uncomfortable or strange to roleplay is acceptable.)
  • Traditionally, the tower messenger Mindjask is the being to explain the premise of whatever floor you want. However, you can use any method or lack thereof as you see fit. Also, usually the goal of the floor is either the staircase in the center, or five staircases surrounding the floor (it alternates), but again, do what you want.
  • Above all, enjoy yourself and get creative. I want this to be a less strict RP than a lot of the other ones here.

Something I forgot to mention!

For your initial post, you'll need to mention which entrance your character uses. This will serve as the "groups" for the first part of the tower, until eventually everyone gets mixed up.

I suggest using entrances other characters have already used. This assures that you're not alone and that we have groups in the background we can use to introduce new characters.

A few things that have been talked about in IRC, but I'd like to make official in the topic.
  • When a player dies or otherwise fails on a floor, they become employed to the ruling deity of that floor for an amount of years equal to the floor number. Everyone who was eliminated on Floor One becomes a member of Tielord's organization for one year. Everyone who was eliminated on Floor Two becomes a member of the Judge's jury or whatever he does with his servants for two years, and so on.
  • Most deities probably have alternative ways of recruiting people. While this method may net then some particularly favorable subjects, and some deities may be more serious about the whole affair then others, for many gods this arrangement is their equivalent of a poker night.
  • Every time this challenge is started, there's probably a different arrangement of deities. They rotate out occasionally and so forth.
Also, for future reference, the deity order is the same as the order in which their profiles were submitted. This list can be seen here.

EDIT: One last thing. Although the groups are being combined for Round 3, note that there is SOMETHING UP with pre-Round 3 Group 4. Just a future note for introducing characters.
